Near wondered if Matt and Mello even wanted him to go sometimes. He didn't doubt that they cared about him, but he just didn't believe that they wanted him to be with them all the time. If they were going to move the hell away from here, wouldn't they want to be together and not have to hide? Not have to censor themselves? He just couldn't help but wonder if they'd get bored of him, or if they'd want him to live somewhere else. He'd never dare ask, because he couldn't risk hurting Matt. He loved Matt too much for that.
He'd never felt romantically for him, or anyone, really. He knew he should, and that the absence of it was strange, but people didn't interest him. They never had. People hurt him. "That's true." Near looked out the window at the pond in Matt's back yard. "I just can't imagine that anywhere else would be different from here. Since I came to live with my dad, I can't remember anything about what it was like anywhere else." Nathaniel had a very small southern accent, having been here for so long, and born here before he went to law school. Near, however, had no such accent, and was raised mostly in Maine. Where iti was cold.

Near's words did hit a soft spot in their plan, and Matt acknowledged it, sighing. "Don't think of it that way. Its not like that. Here, everyone knows our weaknesses, where we live, what we like, all of that. Somewhere else, no one will be able to hit us as personally." he shrugged. "And other places are more tolerant."
He had to beleive that they were. For his and Mel's sakes, and for Near's too. he just KNEW that boy had some queer in him, because goddamn, he acted like it. And plus, it wasn't like they were losing anything by going somewhere else.

Near nodded. "I guess." He agreed. He knew that Matt was right, but he couldn't even remember what main was like, beside the fact it was cold most of the time. He got up out of the chair he was sitting in. Then, he glanced to Matt. "Do you want to play video games while this cooks?" He asked. It was something they had always done together, and they had a lot of fun doing it. Video games drew them together, really.

Matt grinned, "Oh fuck yes. And I'mma beat you this time, too!" He joked, running for the bedroom, where his games were. He had to put a padlock on his door the first time his dad stole them for crack money. He unlocked it, and threw mels back inside, and pulled Near in too. "Alright, what should we play?"

"I picked last time." Near answered, putting his own backpack down. He sat down on the bed and curled up one of the blankets around himself. Matt's AC was always cranked as high as it could go, it reminded Near of Maine, and it was why he always felt so comfortable here. Even in middle school, when he slept here, he'd curl up on the floor and sleep, covered in blankets, and feel completely at ease. He was happy with Matt. He always had been happy here. But, since Mello, he couldn't help but feel out of place.
Near wasn't the type of person to ask for attention, or anything, when he needed it. He'd never asked for anything he wanted or needed, he just learned to do without. He was sure he'd die in this place without Matt, but he just gave Matt and Mello space, because they wanted it, and, Matt served to be happy.

The red-head, however, also had major personal space boundaries. So, he put in a two player shooter, picked up the controllers and put them on the bed, and then picked up the bundle of near-and-blankets, and sat down with it in his lap. He smirked, "Alright, get ready to lose!"

Until Near met Matt, he couldn't remember being hugged. His father had never touched him, probably afraid that he was like his mother, crazy. He would rest a hand on Near's shoulders, but Nathaniel had never been one to give either of his sons much physical affection. Near barely remembered his mother, but he knew that she didn't touch him. The first time Matt touched Matt, back in middle school, the whitenette froze and stood there, in complete shock, having never experienced any physical contact between people before. He didn't know what to do or how to react, and felt strange when Matt had to explain what a hug was and how it felt. Since then, the two of them were in contact a lot. It was a mutual comfort for the two of them. They'd been starved for affection or love, so they found an affection for one another.
Not a romantic one of course, since they'd never had feelings for one another. At least, Near hadn't. He doubted that Matt had been interested in him either. "I think you'll lose."

Matt snuggled the little bastard regularly. How else was he going to keep Near from becoming all sullen? He could remember the sad, dead look in the kid's eye back in middleschool, and he'd just... never thought that it was worth it to stop. So, he happily let himself hug the kid.
Not to mention, Mello was great for being supportive and stuff, but he wasn't all that... huggy.
"I'm gonna own your ass!" he chirped, starting up the game, and getting them to the first zone.

The game loaded up and they played for a few hours, and in the middle of a game, Near suddenly paused it. "I think we should check on the food." He whispered, looking up at Matt. He had always been quiet. He smiled and wiggled out from inside Matt's lap and got down onto the floor. He went to Matt's door and opened it. They went downstairs and Near grabbed a drink, already a little thirsty. The cake was done, but the lasagna could use a little more time.
They played for a little longer, and, the second time they went downstairs, Near stood in the door, something heavy on his mind. But, he was never one to speak freely about anything he though. He once told Matt that he could figure things out before they happened, and it scared him a lot when he was a child. He could tell how things would progress, and where falling objects would hit the ground. He thought he was a freak, or that something was wrong with him. Matt had much the same capacity, and had told Near it was intellect, rather than something that was wrong. Still though, Near didn't like talking about his theories, but kept track of them. He'd only ever been wrong once.

Matt knew that pensive hide-in-the-doorway stance. And as he took out the lasagne, he shruggged, "You gonna tell me what's wrong, or am I gonna have to guess?" He asked, tilting his head to look at him. He didn't want to make near nervous, but still. It was rather ridiculous.

Near jumped, a little surprised. He'd forgotten how well Matt could read his mannerisms. "Sorry..." he said quietly. "I was just wondering if you wanted me to go home when Mello got here, or if I should just go so you wouldn't feel guilty about asking me..." He said, bringing his hand to his face, biting the nail on his thumb. "It doesn't bother me..."

Matt rolled his eyes, looking over at Near. "You don't have to leave if you don't want to, Near." He smirked, "Just because he's my boyfriend doesn't mean i want to exclude you, jesus christ." he muttered, pulling out the Lasagna entirely, and setting it aside. He turned to face his little white friend.
"Seriously, Near, if you want to go home, go, if you don't stay. It's that simple." He smirked.

Near looked up at him and smiled. He hugged him tightly. "Thanks. I'll eat dinner with the two of you, but I have the feeling my father will want me to come home." Considering how little Nathaniel had to do with Near's life, Near actually wondered why his father cared if he came home or not. But still, he knew better than to disobey him. He'd slept out almost all weekend, and wanted to make sure that his family was still there and hadn't just moved. That and he missed sleeping in his own bed.

Matt smiled, "Alright, if you say so... I'll have Mell drive you home, that way you don't get like, fucking kidnapped or something." If near was anything, he was total pedo bait. Adorable, naive, and small. Seriously, the kid needed to bulk up or something.

Near looked a little confused. "I live ten minutes from here, Matt. I can walk home. I know the last thing Mello's going to want to do is drive. I walk home from here all the time. Really, it's fine." The whitenette didn't have much of a problem walking, it was the one physical activity he could do it. He smiled and looked at the cake as it cooled. "Do you want to frost it now?"
