The mural outside? Hikaru smirked. So, the art students here are the ones that did all of the work on the walls of the various buildings. That gave him hope. He'd have to plan something big, especially if he was going to return to Japan at the end of this year. America would have a permanent reminder that he was there and Hikaru Hiitachin had been here.
"Mermaids are really old school. I thought the one on the east wall was impressive. I like that she's not some cliche human beauty, but she actually has features like a fish." It was true, although her mermaid was beautiful, she had kills and her skin was not the same tone as humans. But she was captivating none the less. It reminded him of something he'd have done if given a particular inspiration.
She was happy about her coffee drawing, so he kept it in mind that she liked things like this. He mentioned that he had a pond at home with koi fish in it, and that he liked to watch them swim when he was a kid. They walked to their next class together, and a professor assigned them seats and introduced them to Alex, their student teacher. She was working on gallery entries, so she was someone they should go to for guidance. She was a skilled painter and was starting to dapple in sculpture. Hikaru was sitting beside a girl who introduced herself as Candice Halbert. she was also a blonde, and she was dressed... in clothes appropriate for summer, let's say. There was a tattoo on her hip that showed just outside of her neon blue short shorts, which were covered in patchwork and sewn designs.
After introductions, the blonde leaned toward him, running her hands through her ombre green, purple, and blue hair. "You see her over there?" She asked, gesturing to Alex. "Well, now, I wouldn't want this to go any further, but I heard that last year, she hooked up with one of the senior guys during one of the shows and that's the reason the show didn't do so well. I mean, really? Who does gross things like that backstage, during a performance right? It's like, she has no respect for the arts, you--
Hikaru stared at the girl infront of him and found that he wanted to shop off the monstrosity she called hair. She'd look more attractive if the mess was just gone from her body. It was almost like staring at vomit and blueberry juice mingled together in corn flowers. But, what she said bothered him even more. Alex... didn't really seem like the type, and gossip spread around Ouran like wildfire, so why would this be any different? But, still, some of the Ouran rumors were true: Tamaki and Haruhi dating certainly was, even if no one found out that she was a girl until the end.
Still, Hikaru felt a little strange about this. But, gossip was gossip. She seemed too nice to be all over someone like that. She wasn't really the slutty type. And did Hikaru know about types. For now, he'd try to put it out of his mind. He did have some inclining that asking someone he barely knew about her sex like would likely get him slapped. Even he wasn't that stupid. He liked her too much to torch a friendship that had yet to blossom.
Painting went by pretty uneventfully. They were given a rather extensive list of supplies that they needed for the class. Their teacher was laid back enough not to give them a "theme" for their art, but he wanted something on watercolor, canvas, charcoal, and pencil (or pen) drawing due in the next month and a half, in any order they chose.

Naomi called Alex and told her that she couldn't take her home today. She was staying after for a student council meeting. She apologized, of course, and said that she'd meet her at the Green Bean, later. Haruhi waited, wanting to meet one of the several students who took part in the Theater Club. One of them was a law major, and acting was his hobby. He was the director of this show, and he loved anyone with an accent, so he was glad to talk with Haruhi, and found any mistake she made endearing. That of course upset her, but she showed almost no sign of it. She was glad to have another law student give her advice however, and said that he could talk to one of her professors, who was his sponsor for an internship he got at a local law firm. Anything to help a friend of Naomi's, as he said.
Following that, Naomi helped Haruhi with an English paper, and it was after it was finished, they realized they were going t be late to the meeting with the host club. Just then, Haruhi's phone rang. Tamaki was whining about how his Haruhi was missing. She sighed, and hung up, saying she'd be there soon. Shaking her head, the two girls laughed before driving to the Green Bean. Then, the two entered together.
