Kazuma chuckled, the idea of spreading suntan lotion on his skin again... Well, it was interesting. He wondered... A blush plastered itself across his cheeks. Would it be possible to maybe meet someone here? His grandfather had said that he didn't care if Kazuma was gay... So perhaps... he might be able to have a bit of romance?
No. That was too much to think. After all, who would want a hikikomori? He wasn't someone that would easily have relationships, and he never really expected to anyway.
So he put that thought out of his head as he served his grandfather and himself some curry. Ah... The sake DID add a nice zing to it. He smiled. "My compliments to the chef." He teased, smiling properly for the first time in weeks.

"I don't think a romance would be wise." Mansuke interrupted the teenage boy's thoughts. He smiled at hsi grandson, who looked at him, almost mystified that he knew what he was thinking. "I was your age once, you know." He teased as they sat down for dinner. "I think you're not emotionally strong enough to be with someone right now."
He started to eat, and did love the taste of the curry with a little sake. "It's too bad you're not old enough to drink." He mused, thinking it would be appropriate to give Kazuma a glass of beer. He thought of Kazuma as an adult, despite his age and the circumstances. Oh well though.
"Oh yes, I wish this chef would stay with me forever." he teased with a chuckle.

Dark eyes widened, and that blush that had almost dissapeared reappeared when his Sensei seemed to read his mind. How had Mansuke known?! He swallowed, confused, but nodding. Truthfully, that's pretty much what he'd just come to the conclusion of... He wasn't sure what he should do about being 'emotionally weak', but he figured his sensei would help him.
The food done, the two settled onto the couch, Kazuma with his laptop, and Mansuke with his evening news. It was a simple thing, really, quietly spending time together. Another reply to the turtle, who seemed to have JUST signed back on, and he turned to another portion of OZ, gathering a few minimal items.
"I suppose you have a point. And even I fail in my dedication occasionally. But not everyone has as generous a teacher as I do. I will say no more against Macros. However... I do have a question. Would you be willing to include a regular english novel with the shipment of books? I can return it if it is a borrowed one."

Mansuke watched the news, mostly the weather, wanting to know what it was going to be like this weekend. He needed to go out onto the boats. They were short an overseer, and he could use some squid and cash since Kazuma was coming to stay with him. He wasn't retired, but he was taking a little vacation to spend time with Kazuma. But... if the teen wanted to come and was willing to work for the weekend, he didn't see a problem with it. He could always learn something and it could increase his strength, considering how much he lost. And, it would help him work on the tan he was so intent on getting back.
He let the teenager play around on his computer, and he stood when the news ended, going into the kitchen. He did the dishes, dried them, and put it away. He walked into the room, rubbing the back of his neck tiredly, and sat down, turning on one of the games.
"English Novels? Yeah, I think I could manage that. I like reading, so if you have a genre you like, I could send you whatever books I'm reading. I'm reading one right now called the hunger games that one of my girl friends suggested that I read. I like it so far. But this sending you books and stuff is going to get expensive, so could you pay to send them back to me? I don't mind sending them to you, but I like paper books, and they're rare now-a-days. So, as long as I get them back, I'm fine with sending them to you."

Another rare smile blossomed on Kazuma's lips, and he was in his own world now. He barely noticed that Mansuke had gotten up to do the dishes. He probably should've done them himself... But he hadn't even thought of it. His fingers flew across the keyboard, and soon, he had a reply sent out.
"That shouldn't be a problem, I can cover the cost to mail them back to you. And I've never heard of the hunger games... I suppose if you wanted to send me a copy... but I'm not sure. I was actually thinking I would enjoy fantasy, or perhaps science fiction more." He really wanted adult books, but he could find THAT easily enough online, just by frequenting the yaoi section of the internet archive's with his miniKazma.

Wow... this fucking kid was smart. They had more in common than he thought. He preferred fantasy and stuff and science. Personally, he liked math a little more than science. But, science fiction was more interesting to read math text books. At least... most of the time.
"The hunger games is a story about like... okay, the world is post-apocalyptic. And every year, the names of everyone in every town between the ages of like 13 and 20-somethign are put into a drawing. One male and one female name is drawn. They're trained, and then they have to fight to the death. Whichever champion wins brings food to their village for a the next year, until the next game. I thought it sounded dumb, but I like it so far. The main girl is kinda dumb, but whatever. I like the story itself."

That... actually sounded vaguely interesting. Kazuma nodded, before pausing. "Sensei? Have you ever heard of a-" He paused, because when he looked over, the elderly man was asleep, head leaned back on the back of the couch. He sighed, smiling at the sweet scene, before setting his laptop aside for a moment.
Leaning over, he gently took his sensei's arm over his, and heaved the old man to his feet, supporting most of his weight so that he wouldn't have to wake up fully. "Time for bed, Sensei." He murmured, tucking Mansuke into bed. Strangely, that in and of itself helped him feel calm.
Then, back to his laptop.
"That sounds interesting, I'm not going to lie. Care to send me a copy? I can forward you some money for the extra shipping charges?" He offered.

Xerxes was starting to feel better, really. He used to think that Kazuma was just some stupid 40 year old douchebag that just hung out in his mom's basement trolling and being a jerk... but he was wrong. He was surprised to admit that he was super wrong. He was actually a nice guy and seemed to have issues. If he was moving to live with his grandfather, then something was wrong. Something had to be seriously wrong with his home life for that to be like... his option. Not to mention he was an Asian that was out of school. His parents must be upset or something happened to them.
It was wrong to say that he pitied Kazuma, because he didn't. In truth, he felt empathy, or rather, compassion for him. It sucked that something like that happened, but he wasn't going to pry. Kazuma was blunt, he well knew, so there was no point in fighting with him about his homelife. They weren't... friends, as it were, and nor were they close enough to confide such things. So... whatever.
"Yeah, I like it. I'll send it to you when I finish it. And I make enough money to send you some stuff. I'll just send multiple books at a time to keep things on the cheap. That way, you'll get a few books a week. You can send them back the same way too. That way you'll never run out of books to read."

Kazuma nodded, not really thinking about what he'd learned of Mercury. All he knew was that he liked good literature, had learned english as a second language, and had one female friend, at least. So, he replied, rather than wondering.
"Alright, that sounds fair. I need to go to sleep, so... I'll reply when I wake up, if my teacher lets me. If not it'll be later in the afternoon. Goodnight, Mercury."

Xerxes stretched, yawning. He needed to get ready to school. He stretched and cracked his back. Standing up, he started stripping. He went into the bathroom and started to shower. He jumped inside, washed up, and then dressed. He fixed his uniform. His high school was one of the few that required a uniform, it was a upstanding private school that cost a decent amount of money and high test scores to be allowed in. And he did well in his school. He met his sister downstairs, smiling at her. She didn't have classes for another hour because she was in college. But she was always up in the morning to eat breakfast with the family and to see him.
"Do you need help with your calc homework?" He asked as he sat down at the table. Whenever they had school, his mother made these giant breakfasts and always made sure that they had lunch if they wanted it. Kali was going to a nearby school, but his dream school was almost half way across the country. He grabbed some marmalade and started to spread it over the bread his mother had taken out of the oven, maybe five minutes before because it was warm and the kitchen smelled amazing.
He smiled and stared to drink the frappe his mother made him happily. God he loved coffee and chocolate frappes in the morning. His father was just having coffee, reading the newspaper, looking displeased about something about the economy, but what else was new.

The family was a happy one, if a busy one. The father worked hard, the mother took care of the home. It seemed like your typical family. Kallias loved it. After all, she was the product of such a warm, and loving family home. She couldn't imagine anything more homey.
"No, little brother, but thank you anyway. You're way too sweet for your own good." Reaching over, she stole his slice of bread, taking a bite off of it, before putting it back. It was ridiculous how he was so put together in the morning. Just because she was up didn't mean she wasn't in small shorts and a tank top she'd worn to bed thenight before.

"Hey!" Xerxes pouted when she took a large bite of his bread and then took it back. "Girl cooties..." he mumbled, teasing her. Of their entire family, she was the most accepting of him being gay. She didn't seem to expect him to "wise up and fly straight" as he got older. And he really appreciated the support. He did appreciate that his parents were supportive of him. They allowed him to date men, bring them to the house. They didn't usually let his boyfriends sleep over in his bedroom, but they were allowed to stay from time to time. They defended him when the school wanted to throw him out for being homosexual. He won the lawsuit, and he remained at the school. Because of Xerxes struggle, a lot of other guys and girls came out about what happened. Xerxes felt comfortable knowing so many people relied on him, and despite the fact that he was gay, he still had straight friends.
"Do you have your morning class?" He asked as their mother started to finish what she was cooking on the stove. Melanie also put a bowl of olives on the table for her son and husband.
Xerxes took a handful of olives and stuffed them into his mouth hungrily. His mother always teased him for his appetite, and it was true. He was always hungry. For breakfast, their mother made Patsas, a warm soup made out of beef tripe. It was a traditional dish that Xerxes grew up eating. A lot of his friends thought it was nasty when they found the meat was a cow stomach, but it tasted good. And his mom made the best.
"Are their any parties on campus this weekend?" he teased his sister. He had gone with her to a few of them because her campus had a fair share of gay men, and some of them were really really hot.

"Yes, and if there were, why would I tell you?" Kallias teased, sticking her tongue out at the other boy. She'd recently gotten it peirced, so it was lightly swollen. The best part of Patsas? No chewing. At least, you didn't HAVE to chew. Just drink the juice.
"Oh, and by the way? Get your own eyeliner." She grinned, knowing he hated when she brought up his beautification. She knew it was a faze, because his eyes and face were grecian beautiful. There could be STATUES made of him. She smiled, "Wanna come to my first class again? Or do you have school today...?" She sometimes forgot what day it was.

"H-Hey!" He flushed, looking away. Damn it. He hated when she caught him using some of her makeup. Truthfully, he didn't want to be a girl, but he was one to experiment with ways to make guys think he was more attractive. It sometimes worked and it sometimes didn't. But, he was starting to dislike it. He tried this morning, but washed it off because it looked so fake.
Xerxes did in fact have class that day, but he wanted to go with her. " I have a substitute in my first class, so we're not doing anything. I can come with you." He smiled at her. He wanted to take early enrollment classes, and he was, next semester. He would be a senior then, and he had enough credits. When he went to college, he wanted to go to a different university, but he wouldn't mind attending his sister's part time and looking for a boyfriend. He WAS single after all. "Please let me come to your first class?" he asked, happily. "I'll buy you some ice cream." he knew that her tongue was bothering her, so something cold would help, right?

Kalli grinned, looking down her elegant nose at her brother. "I don't know..." However, the offer of icecream was just too tempting. "Mama? What do you say?"
Looking over the two, Melanie frowned, "Alright. But Xerxes, you better make sure you don't have any homework. How would your mama look if you skipped school and didn't do your homework, hm?"
This of course was Kalli's signal to stand up and go get ready. After all, she was a grecian bombshell with a reputation for hotness, so she had to look her best! Showering, curling hair, dressing up, makeup. What took other girls hours, took her a few minutes. She smiled, "Ready to go, little brother?"
