Ruffnut rolled her eyes. Damn, her brother could be an idiot sometimes. Oh well, the problem was over for now. When she returned to Fishlegs, she felt more calm. Once she had, the tenseness in her muscles seemed to leave her. He had been someone she never needed to be tense around, even when he taught her about dragons, he hadn't been condescending. She hated reading and she'd much rather listen to someone talking about dragons then reading things about dragons. It was just boring. Fishlegs like reading and studying. Ruffnut liked doing. Their partnership worked out well, especially to this point because of it.
And, sadly, Fishlegs was right. "Alvin... isn't one who just backs down. He let all those whispering deaths hatch here. I can't imagine he'd be willing to get let us go completely. I can see him doing something to us from inside... That's what Mildew was at first, before Alvin betrayed him and got Hiccup." They had no idea that it was part of their plan all along, but Ruffnut had her doubts. Alvin seemed to know too much, but she kept this to herself, she didn't even tell Tuffnut.
"I'm sure he's planning something, but we just have to wait until it surfaces. Whatever it is, I can't see him launching a full attack without dragons, and rumor has it that he hadn't been able to keep a tame dragon." This she was sure was true. BarfBelch had a connection to the twins because they cared for one another, mutually. It was like having two other siblings.
Another song started up and Ruffnut turned to see Astrid dancing with Hiccup, much to the envy of some of the chief's daughter. That made her smile, her best female friend finally got what she wanted. And she'd never seen Astrid look happier. "I think we shouldn't think too much about that now. Let's follow Hiccup and Astrid's lead and just forget about the danger for tonight." A pause. "Thank you, though, for being straight with me." She raised her mug and finished the ale inside of it before standing up.
The party went on into the twilight hours. At one point, one of Snotlout's students came to her and told her that her brother's students were playing games near flower falls. This was one of the high points of the island, a cliff that overhung the sea. It was a dangerous place, but some of the most beautiful flowers were there. Wild flowers that grew on no other place in the island. Sighing, Ruffnut went up there with Calder, Snotlout's student. Once they were at the top, she found two of the boys, who, admittedly had gotten into some ale that they shouldn't have. She yelled at them both and threatened to throw them off the cliff. As much as she wanted to, she refrained. The boys calmed after sitting with her for a while and told her they were tired. She whistled for their dragons who weren't far off and once they returned, she had the Monstrous nightmare and Nadder take them home to rest.
After delivering Ruffnut there, Calder ran off, not wanting to see her legendary anger. He had enough problems with Snotlout.
Looking over her shoulder, Ruffnut started to walk up the hills to the large patch of yellow and blue flowers. She looked around, a strange feeling in her heart. Her father proposed to her mother here. She'd heard the story a million times as a kid. They had gone on their first date here. Ruffnut even heard that the twins might have been conceived here. Yeah, too much information, right? But, that was why some of their mother's ashes had been sprinkled here. The twins never came because this was where they considered her to be buried, for her soul to rest. They'd come here once, with their father to spread her ashes. After that, they only looked at it from a distance with Barf and Belch from the sky.
A sound of footsteps in the woods made her turn. They were heavy, too heavy to be one of the students. This was the walking of men, multiple men who didn't seem at all intoxicated from the evenness of their steps. They were cautious not to be heard, but she could hear them even so.

Fishlegs ended up agreeing with everything that Ruffnut said, though it did little to comfort him. It was amazing how a sociopath wanting you dead tended to make a guy nervous for his own life. After all if you couldn’t worry about your own life, what could you worry about? Alvin had tried numerous tactics to get Berk to fall, and so far had failed every time. Despite this, he didn’t relent in his attack to destroy Berk or kidnap Hiccup. “I have a feeling that he’ll never stop trying….not until he’s dead, or he’s succeeded.”
At seeing how Astrid was, Fishlegs could only smile. Hiccup was his best friend and it was nice to see him and Astrid looking so happy. Fishlegs decided that it was moments like these that kept them all sane. Perhaps that was why Tuffnut was so happy all the time. He didn’t let anything slow him down or hold him up, he just kept pushing forward with that grin on his face. Even with imminent war, nothing bothered the guy. “You’re right, we should stop talking about this. Hiccup said they should have fun tonight, and that’s what they were going to do.
“Don’t mention it, it’s what you do for me after all,” Fishlegs said before finishing his ale as Ruffnut decided to finish her down drink. After a little bit the party decided to get a bit more festive as more couples began to dance. Fishlegs was surprised when Ruffnut told her to join him. Before he could argue at all, she pulled him to his feet and they were off. The night continued on, and it was certainly going to be a night that was going to be remembered in Berk for some time…
“Ohhhhh my head,” Tuffnut mumbled to himself the next morning. He woke up groggily and let out a yawn as he opened his eyes. He was immediately met with confusion. “Why is the world upside-down?” he asked before suddenly he fell and smashed his head against the floor. When the others had taken Tuffnut home, Snoutlout had decided that it would be funny to let the twin sleep upside down. Apparently he had stayed there until morning.
“I’m gonna kill that guy,” Tuffnut said as he knew that only one person would have made him do that as a joke. He shook his head several times before looking around. “Sis?” he asked before noticing that she wasn’t there. Her bed didn’t even look like it had been touched. The twins weren’t exactly what you would call tidy, so the fact that her bed was made and her shoes weren’t here were very strange for Tuffnut.
He spent the next while searching the house to see if she was around and had just gotten up before him. She was nowhere to be found though, even the dragon didn’t seem to know where she had been. The only other thing could be that she was in the village. Yeah that must have been it. Tuffnut soon moved outside and looked about. For the most part business was going back to usual, with the exception of several of the other tribes still being here. Thankfully, he soon saw a familiar face.
“Astrid!” Tuffnut shouted as he walked over to her. “Have you seen Ruffnut? I’ve been looking for her for like….ever and I can’t find her. You seen her?”

Well, the night could have ended better for all involved. Hiccup agreed to drink a bit more with his father and the other chiefs. He was a lightweight. Two ales made him woozy. The other chief heir's teased him, but it was in good fun. They asked him questions into the night, especially about the beautiful blonde girls he'd been seen with earlier. he mentioned Ruffnut in passing, but talked a bit about Astrod, about how strong she was, how much she'd scared him when he first started training dragons, and how it was Toothless that finally made it so he wasn't invisible to her anymore. The men laghed at him, but where happy all the same. Following that, they started up a commotion and had the band play couples dances and forced Hiccup to ask Astrid for a dance.
Holmes, the son of the chief who had traveled a month to come, stated that he would sign the treaty with his father the next day if, and only if, Hiccup asked the blonde Nadder rider for a dance. he did far more encouraging then even Stoick and, with a promise in mind, he did ask her to dance. The young heir was a year Hiccup's senior and the vision of what a viking man should be, strong, wise, and vast. But there was a caring look within his green eyes. Seeing Hiccup and Astrid dancing later in the evening, he held up a mug to celebrate them.
The next day, Astrid was happy and walking happily through the village to bring Hiccup some breakfast. Her mother warned her not to cook for the chief's son if she had any desire to marry him, but the girl didn't listen. She refused to believe that Ruffnut could cook and she couldn't. It just, it didn't make sense!
Tuffnut cut her off and she blinked. "Ruffnut?" She asked, a little confused. "I saw her last night. She was with Fishlegs for a while, but then Calder came over babbling about Ivan and Roscoe fighting up in Flower Falls. She left to go make sure they didn't hurt one another." She placed a hand on her hip. "Do you think she's still there?" The Viking girl was worried about her friend, especially since she'd never seen Tuffnut look worried. "Do you want us to go with you?"

Tuffnut just blinked for a moment as Astrid delivered the information to him. His students had been fighting again huh? Since he was out cold she must have agreed to go fix things so that the two idiots didn’t kill each other. Tuffnut wanted to laugh at picturing his students pushing each other off a cliff, but he refrained for the time being. His concern was far overpowering his desire for a good laugh right now. He wanted to find his sister, why would she still be up at the falls? Surely it didn’t take her ten hours to stop a fight.
“Us?” Tuffnut said before looking behind Astrid. “Is everyone else hiding from me again like the time when I ate that scorched dragon pepper…man that was a bad day,” he muttered before thinking back to why he had come here. “Well wherever they are, yes I think we should go look for her. It’s not like her to stay out all night, she and I always wake up at the same time, and it didn’t even look like her bed was made or her clothes had been moved…I don’t feel good,” Tuffnut said to the point where it truly sounded heartbreaking. His concern was wildly clear in his voice.
“Go get the others, we can go when they’re here….please hurry.”

Astrid had never seen him like this. She nodded. "Go get your dragon and the rest of us will meet you back here. I'll go get them." She said, putting her hands on Tuffnut's shoulders to assure him. "It'll be okay."
She waved to him and ran off. She went home and mounted Stormfly and flew to Hiccup's house since it was the furthest from where she'd seen Tuffnut. She then went to the shop to find him saddling up Toothless. He'd made a few adjustments that morning since Toothless' tail had been torn at the feast. As soon as he heard that happen, Hiccup told Astrid to get get Fishlegs and he'd go get Snotlout.
Once there, Hiccup had a hard time getting the Yorgensen up and moving, but succeeded, after a little of Hookfang's fire got the partially hungover teen moving.
"Fishlegs!" Astrid called, running into the other boy's room without knocking. "Ruffnut didn't come home last night, we're going to go meet up with Tuffnut to look for her. Did she tell you where she was going last night? Did you see her after she left to go to the Flower Hills with Calder?"
Once they'd all gathered where Tuffnut was waiting, Hiccup rubbed Toothless' side. "Come on Bud, lead the way!" And with that, the dragons took flight for the highest point on the island.

“Okay, yeah, I’ll meet you back here. Go get them!” Tuffnut shouted before sprinting back towards the house where Barfbelch would be waiting for him. “Sorry to wake you guys, but we gotta find Ruffnut,” Tuffnut said before hopping on to the back of the dragon. He had to scoot farther down than usual to sit at the back of their necks. It was the only way the he could instruct the dragons now that he would be riding alone. God he hated sitting like this though, it made his legs spread much wider than he liked. “Come on guys, let’s find her,” he said before flying out and heading back to the spot where they had agreed to meet.
Fishlegs looked up as Astrid jumped in and asked her questions. Normally he would chastise her for not knocking, but once she explained the situation he couldn’t help but forget the rudeness. “No she didn’t tell me anything. Last I heard she was going up to help her students, she was going to go home right after that.”
It didn’t take long for everyone to assemble, they would never leave one of their own behind after all. They all wanted to find Ruffnut, though none as badly as Tuffnut did. “Great you’re all here, good to see you, let’s go,” he said in one extremely hasty sentence before having his dragon immediately take off towards the falls. Tuffnut never spoke that fast, and his concern seemed to be growing by the minute. He couldn’t even remember the last time he had woken up to not have his sister in the same room as him. Having her gone just felt wrong.
“She probably just fell asleep by a rock or something….yeah, that’s probably it,” Tuffnut said as it appeared that he was speaking with himself quietly. Everyone would notice despite the twin’s best effort to hide it. His grip on the reigns tightened to the point that his arms felt like they were literally shaking.
“We’re here! Everyone spread out and try and find her!” Tuffnut said before immediately having his dragon dive down to the forest in an attempt to see if they could find their missing rider.

Hiccup looked worried, and that was rare for Hiccup. The thought that she was missing made him nervous and he hated the fact that one of his friends could be in danger. They flew there, mostly in silence as Tuffnut mumbled to himself. It was weird, to see the male-twin so frightened. For a while, they all just sort of assumed that Tuffnut was the stronger of the two, since sometimes Barf did as he commanded, but after seeing Ruffnut's skill with dragons after working with Fishlegs, they released how strong the younger twin was.
That wasn't to say Tuff was useless, but Hiccup knew that the twin's fighting was mostly the fault of Tuffnut's antics. Still, they needed to find her. If anything, just to make sure she was safe. "If we find anything, have your dragons send a blast of fire into the air and we'll come to where you are."
"Okay bud," he said, when they split up, can you smell her?" He asked as Toothless started to sniff the air. He flew for a bit, caught a scent and bore his teeth. "Woah!" Hiccup yelled as Toothless dove into the trees and landed, scurring across the ground, following a trail. HE stopped at a trail of blood and HIccup felt his heart clench in his throat.
It had only been fifteen minutes. "Toothless, plasma blast!" Hiccup ordered, watching his best friend shoot an purple ray into the air to alert the others. He dismounted and started looking around.

“Yeah what Hiccup said, when you find her shoot a blast in the air so I can come kick her head in for scaring me,” Tuffnut said before beginning to search on his own with the dragons. They scoured for some time trying to find anything, but everything appeared to be normal as far as he could see. The others looked as well, but it was Hiccup that found something first. Tuffnut would recognize a plasma blast anywhere…considering there was only one thing he knew that could even do that. It significantly decreased the odds of it being anything else at least!
Once the plasma blast was shot, all the riders and dragons came to look at the area that they had found. “What, what did you find?” Tuffnut asked as he was actually the last one to arrive. Before anyone could answer him though, he saw the blood that was lining the ground. “My god, no no no….whose blood is that?” he asked as he looked around at everyone as if he actually expected a different answer. No one responded though, they were all thinking the same thing.
Before anything else was said, a low whine came from Barf. Tuffnut turned just in time to see the dragon lower his head and pick something up with one of its teeth. It raised it before leaning towards Tuffnut and dropping it in his hand. Tuffnut’s back was turned to everyone, but it didn’t take him long to slowly turn around and open up his hand. Everyone would recognize it immediately as Ruffnut’s necklace. She always had it on, hell she even bathed with it on!
“She would never drop this, she would never lose this, she would never just walk away without this….not by choice,” Tuffnut said slowly as his eyes just stared at the blood on the ground.
Fishlegs looked over towards Hiccup. “Can’t toothless like track where she went or something? She’s not just gone she must be somewhere!”

Astrid was the first to arrive. She landed near Toothless and gasped when she saw the blood. And it looked like there was blood everywhere. A hand was at her face and she slid off Stormfly and started to look around the area. This... this was... She touched some of the blood, it was sticky and dry, this had happened during the night, at least six hours ago. She kept looking, finding more blood trails.
There were marks in the dirt, from what looked like fighting. At least four set of boots could be identified in the dirt. All of them were rather large and circled around the smallest set of footprints, the fifth set. Ruffnuts. Blood had dripped on the ground in several places and there was one place were a considerable amount, as if from a body had soaked in. There were drag marks that pulled the considerable sized corpse into the woods to their right, heading toward the steepest part of the mountain that lead down into the water.
Throwing daggers were stuck in trees and in the ground, some bloody, some with cloth, and one with a long string of golden hair tangled around it. Ruffnut could keep up to fifteen of them in her hair at a time, however, the way that Tuffnut had done her hair the night before, she had only managed to fit ten back inside her thick locks. And there were five littering the ground.
The blonde looked heartbroken and concerned, especially when Barf sadly presented his rider's brother with her necklace. They all recognized it, and hearing Tuffnut express what it was made tears well up in Astrid's eyes. She ran over to Hiccup, burying her head into his shoulder. For one, she had no idea what to say or do, just sadness to replace the anger she'd felt for Ruffnut ruining her morning date with Hiccup.
Hiccup held Astrid. He looked worried too. "Yeah, let's mount up." he tried to encourage Astrid to be strong by rubbing her back. "Come on, it looks like something was dragged that way, toward the cliff. Let's follow the trail. That.. that should lead us to her."

Tuffnut didn’t see as many of the details as everyone else, he didn’t have to. All he needed to see was this broken necklace to know that his sister had been taken. It was one of the few possessions that they had left of their mother. If Ruffnut had woken up to see this on her bed, he’d be equally worried. This was getting worse and worse by the moment though. His eyes slowly raised up as he saw how many throwing knives were scattered around. She had tried to defend herself from multiple foes, tried to get away…but they had taken her anyway.
The others were pretty much silent. What was there to say after all? Words of comfort? No, Tuffnut wouldn’t accept such things right now. He wanted his sister and he was going to do whatever it took to get her back. Snoutlout took a step towards Tuffnut to speak, but stopped as he saw how tight Tuffnut’s grip had gotten around the necklace. Snoutlout and Tuffnut had always given each other a hard time, but the look on Tuffnut’s face was something that the other rider had never seen before.
It was the look of someone that was filled with absolute rage and bloodlust.
He said nothing before moving quickly and hopping on to his dragon. Whatever discomfort he had, he hid it well. It wasn’t his own comfort that he was worried about right now. His sister was either captured, or dead. Either way, Tuffnut needed to find out the truth and settle it. Had these bastards hurt her as bad as Tuffnut imagined, he was going to do to them tenfold. Berk had a reputation for being a peaceful tribe, but in this moment Tuffnut could safely say that there was nothing he wouldn’t be willing to do to get his sister back.
Without even waiting for the others he flew off in the direction that the drag marks indicated. Even from up here if there was a body, he knew that he’d see it. He didn’t care though, good or bad he had to find her. He had to save her…he had to try.
For the first time in years, Tuffnut was scared.

No corpses had been left behind. They searched the sides of the cliffs. At first it looked like there was nothing, but the closer they looked, the more obvious it became. There were markings in the rocks. In blood. The markings seemed nonsensical, as they were messy and blurred. They weren't letters, at least, not in Norse. The messy symbols were symbols the twins used to write messages back and forth to one another when they played games outside with groups. They'd learn carvings in trees or small symbols in the dirt to follow one another when they played Hide and Go kill, or whenever they were playing a game on teams and were separated for one reason or another. Some of the symbols were smudged and unreadable. On the small outlet of sand on the beach just below the cliff, there was of the guard Ruffnut kept on her arm. It half buried in the sand. The tide was coming in and part of it was wet.
However, there was a symbol on it that the twins used often in their childhood games. It was a swirl, their symbol for water. They'd taken her to sea. But, she hadn't been able to say who had done so.
Once on the beach, Toothless sniffed around, growling slightly. The water had washed away most of the blood that was in the sand, but there were still very subtle drag marks that someone had tried to wash away. "She killed one of them." Hiccup said, as if this would comfort the others. "They dragged his body off so we wouldn't know who they are." Suddenly, a terrifying thought struck Hiccup.
"We need to tell my father. And we need to find out of any of the other tribe's ships are missing, and if any of their soldiers are gone too."

They had all searched high and low, what little they found only seemed relevant to Tuffnut. While they all recognized the arm guard that Ruffnut wore, it was only Tuffnut that could translate the symbols. At first he just recognized them, they didn’t mean anything. In truth it was only the one on the armguard that meant anything to him. Water, she was heading for water. They must have taken her to a ship of some kind. Damn it! There like eight tribes here! It would take forever to search all of the ships that had been brought, they could already be getting away!
Despite the turmoil that was going through Tuffnut’s mind, his face indicated the seriousness that he viewed the situation. For the first time in a long while, it looked like he was concentrating only on this situation without spacing out. Ruffnut needed him, she was his sister and he had let her down. He had to fix this, he had to save her no matter what. It wasn’t going to be easy though, but thankfully that was why Hiccup was there to make plans for everyone to follow. He was glad that they were all there, he had no idea how he would be if he had discovered this by himself.
“Your father needs to lockdown the island, make sure that no one leaves until we figure out what’s happened, “Tuffnut said in a cold voice that was so distant from what he usually sounded like. “I don’t care what reasons they have to leave, no one will be leaving until we find my sister,” he said as he placed the arm guard gently in his pouch. This and the necklace were all he had of her now. Until she came back, he’d wear both of them for good luck. At least this way a part of Ruffnut would be with him until they found her.
“If it’s been six hours since the attack, the ship could be long gone by now…and we don’t even know what direction they went,” Fishlegs said quietly to himself as he looked towards the ocean. While he was trying to be brave for Tuffnut, the sister’s disappearance was bothering him as well.

Hiccup's mind went into overdrive. "Okay. From the way the ship must have been docked and the flow of the ocean around the islands, they must have went south, at least until they could go to the northern channel where the current changes. The winds were slow last night. Toothless is the fastest dragon, so I'll go to see if I can find anything. Astrid." He said, glancing to his girlfriend as he ran to his dragon. "You take Tuffnut and tell my father what happened. Since Ruffnut is leaving clues for Tuffnut, then we need him to search all the ships and the island. It's possible that the ship is still docked here, or that it went out to meet another ship to hand her off. Lock down the island. Have all of our students help, this is what they were trained for. Search and rescue. Fishlegs, I want you to go back up the cliffs. Look for anything else that could help us find her." Fishlegs was the smartest and could piece things together. "Find out how many there were and anything else you can find out about the struggle. We need to know if there was a presence of dragons there."
Hiccup clicked his prosthetic leg into the saddle. "Snotlout, you and Hookfang go North. Three of the tribes would go south to get home, and four of them would have to go north. There's only one that wold go east and considering probability and our time table, we should do the most we can with what we have." He wasn't sure what this was going to do and he knew his place was to tell his father this, but he couldn't. He had the fastest dragon, his place was trying to save his friend.
Astrid nodded. "Right." Stoick the vast was going to be furious. "Alright, we'll see what will happen tonight." She looked at Tuffnut. "Follow me, the chief's in the great hall. I saw him when we flew off."
Astrid flew as fast as their dragons could to the great hall were all the chiefs and their heirs had gathered. There was no mass of children as their bad been last night. There was one chief and the hair to the tribe, two from each, so fifteen men from the other tribes, and Stoick sitting by an empty seat. Gobber was also at the table, as well as Spitelout and a few of the other ranked Vikings. Among them, of course, was Astrid and Tuffnut's father.
"What is the meaning of this?" Stoick asked, standing. "Where is Hiccup, he's late for the meeting and now you lot burst in?" But Stoick saw the look on Astrid's face. She looked terrified.
And he was not alone. Seeing the panic in his daughter's eyes, Astin stood from his seat beside Spitelout. "what happened?" he asked, fearing something far worse had taken place. He thought that Hiccup had been hurt, not noticing where Tuffnut was seated on his dragon, both saddles empty.

Everyone had their job and everyone was moving as quickly as they could. This wasn’t just about a friend or a comrade, this was about family. While they would search equally vigorous if any of the others had been lost, there was something so devastating about seeing the change in Tuffnut since his sister had been taken from him. It was as if he was just waking up from something that he hadn’t been expecting. He was acting angrily, infuriated, and outright frustrated. No one could blame him of course, they would all do the same time thing if the positions was reversed at all.
“Don’t worry man, we will get her home,” Snoutlout said before flying off with his dragon to the North as Hiccup instructed. He pushes his dragon as far as he could and kept his eyes peeled. No ship could outrun a dragon, so he would fly as hard as he could to make sure that the gap was lowered no matter who he was chasing. They may have a head start, but nothing was impossible when you had a dragon.
As Astrid and Tuffnut burst in to the meeting of chiefs, Tuffnut allowed Astrid to speak first. She got everyone’s attention and allowed him to breathe slowly. He needed to be smart about this rather than a total asshole. He needed to make sure that everyone understood exactly what was going on before someone caused a panic.
"Where is she Tuffnut?" a voice suddenly came from next to him. Before Tuffnut even realized how close his father had gotten, he was being yanked by his shoulders and thrown on to the ground where he crashed. He was gripped and lifted off of his feet. "Where is my daughter!? Where is Ruffnut?" he said angrily. He could tell the moment they came in that something was wrong. Tuffnut never rode the dragon without his sister, it was clearly that something had happened. "What the hell happened!?"
"I got drunk at the part last night. I was taken home while she went to go settle a fight between students," Tuffnut began to speak. "This morning I learned that she was attacked and taken to a ship....it's got a six hour head start at least," the twin said dejectedly. It was only a second delay before he felt a powerful punch to his stomach as he was dropped to the ground.
"Worthless, after all these years you still can't even take care of her....you should be ashamed of yourself," Tuffnut Senior said before turning to Stoic. "We have to lock the island down and search every single ship while they're still here. It's possible the ship with my girl is still here. Please Stoic, we have to act with haste before we never find her!"

Hiccup flew as fast as he could, all the way south. He made it to where the currents changed. Nothing. He had to make a choice of which current to follow. To head up south, or to to go east, the only other way the current went. Toothless growled at Hiccup since they had idled for so long. He sighed and decided that he needed to do what eh said and kept flying east, following the current. They had to find her.
Astrid looked at her father and almost wanted to cry. She couldn't imagine what it felt like to be in the position Tuffnut was in. There was just.. this doubt. She needed to be strong now, though. Everyone was counting on her. Everyone. She had to be strong now, since Ruffnut wasn't here to support her as she'd been doing for months. In all her insecurities, Astrid had never once supported Ruffnut, who had always been so strong, so independent, and powerful. Astrid never though she'd have to fight for her best female friend. The only true female friend she ever had.
However, the violent reaction of Tuffnut's father shook her bearings and she had no idea what to do about it. She... she had never seen a parent be violent to one of their children, except Spitelout and Snotlout. And, even that was a rare thing. Spitelout was usually just emotionally manipulative with traditional vikings ways.
"H-hey!" Astrid said, coming forward, as if to help Tuffnut. "There's no time for this, we need to lock down the island and find her before anything happens!" she whisped Hiccup was here, he had a knack for this.
Stoick looked alarmed and was furious, just as Astrid predicted. "Very well." He was relieved to know that his son was safe, but at the cost of one of his friend's children? No. He wouldn't stand for that. "The island is locked down then." He glanced to the council around him. "We will find her." He stated, putting a hand on Tuddnut Sr.'s shoulder. "My friends." He turned to his tribe. "I ask that we postpone the signing of this treaty until after we find one of our own."
Holmes stood from the council. "We accept this. We'll begin by saying that you may search all of our ships and we will have all of our tribesmen who came available for injury inspection, if that is what you wish." It was clear from his tone that he already assumed much of the ruling in his father's place. In battle, his father's throat had been cut, making it difficult for him to speak loudly. Since Holmes was a child, he was used to projecting his father's words, but, now a man, he had the same fame with words that his father was said to have. And he was known far and wide a a man of honor.
