Sneers looked at Smellerbee and leaned in to whisper something. "That's a firebender," he said, obviously. "How did the hell did Jet decide to bring her along?" he asked. Sneers wasn't sure about what had happened in the last three years on Jet's end, but clearly he had gone through some growth. It made him happy. The war was finally over and he was glad that Jet could leave his demons in the past.
"It's a long story. But he's right, we have to keep her safe. I'll tell you about it later in private," she responded, taking a seat in one of the chairs. She propped her feet up on the table. "Home sweet home," she said with a sigh of relief. "It's great to be back. You've done a good job keeping this place in shape," she said to Amaranth.
Suyin knelt down in front of the boy, smiling at him. "Hi, I'm Suyin. It's very nice to meet you too," she said, holding out her hand to shake his little one. "So you and I have something in common, huh?"

Jet was glad Bellamy liked Suyin. He hadn't considered that the two of them would get along, but he had hoped they would. After all, he had no idea which of his parents he had taken after.
Bellamy reached out to shake her hand with both of his own and looked up at her happily. "We do, and I like it. It makes us special here. we're the only ones. Like, the only only ones." He rubbed his eyes and leaned closer to Jet's body so he was no longer supporting any of his own weight.
"Speaking of taking care of things, Jet, we really need to talk." Amaranth said sternly. "Now." She added, looking through the others, as if telling them to go.
"Alright," Jet replied. "I'll put him to bed and come back. Does that work for you? Do you have a place for them to sleep?"
Amaranth nodded. "I live in the same place, but we rotated the arrangement 180 degrees when we moved it, that was the only way we could make it fit because of the east side." She explained. "Smellerbee and Longshot can stay next to me. One of the houses opened recently. We'll talk about that later. But we don't--"
Jet shook his head. "Don't worry about me. I'll deal with that tomorrow. From your tone, I probably won't sleep anyway. Fireweed, let's go." He walked to the door and stopped, then whistled softly. "Fireweed, come on." He gestured with his head and started walking again.

Suyin smiled at him. He was really adorable. "Yeah it does, doesn't it," she said, watching as Jet picked him back up. She stood up too and looked at Amaranth. To be honest, she didn't even consider her appearance until now. There were probably twigs or leaves sticking out of her hair for all she knew, yet here she was standing in front of their leader. The woman didn't seem to pay much attention to her, which was good. Her idea for this whole thing was to stay as low as possible until she left. She was pretty good at staying out of sight.
Jet started to walk out and it took a her a moment before she finally looked up, then behind her, before she looked back at him. "Oh that's me, I guess," she said, walking over to follow him. "What the hell is that, give me a heads up before you give me a new name or something," she whispered. "And why do I have to be a weed?" she questioned.
Sneers and the others left the room too. Smellerbee stopped just outside the door. "See you tomorrow, Jet. Longshot and I are heading this way," she said, waving him a goodbye before they walked off in the opposite direction. They were excited to get a good night's rest.
"So..." Suyin started as they walked. She was looking down at the sleeping boy.

"I'll see you in the morning." He waved to Smellerbee and Longshot as they went off to get some rest.
Bellamy was tired enough that he drifted off not long after they started walking. When Suyin reprimanded him for nicknaming her, he just shrugged. "They just come to me." He finally said. "All of the Freedom Fighter's have nicknames, and I've picked almost all of them." He glanced to her. "And fireweed is a good nickname." He insisted with a teasing grin.
They walked in silence for a short time as he carried the boy home. He glanced toward her for a moment. "So?" He asked, expecting her to say something else, like what she was thinking about. He saw her eyes on the boy and he sighed and didn't say anything. "If you ask me direct questions, I'll tell you if I'll answer them." He finally stated.

"I guess I'm just surprised to see another here," she said, looking up from the boy. Suyin contemplated for a second. "Have you found out if he can firebend yet?" she asked. She was only a little concerned because she didn't think there were any firebenders here and firebending could only, obviously, be taught by another firebender. Just like any of the other elements.
Out of the four elements, fire was the most dangerous to learn, for obvious reasons. Giving a little kid fire was never a good thing unless under supervision.
He didn't seem like a bad kid or anything. It was just that in a lot of cases firebending kids were afraid of their own abilities. Because fire was a scary thing. To get them to learn that it wasn't so terrifying was sometimes and obstacle.

"Amaranth always wished that he wouldn't be a fire bender, but she did tell me once she wanted him to be an earth bender, as her father had been." He answered as they walked. "I'm assuming if he is a bender, she'll tell me when I go back to talk to her. I want you to stay with him tonight, you should rest. Now that we're here, you're safe. There are a lot of people here that don't know me, but I know that won't be much of an issue. If anything does happen, come find me." He said, looking at her as they moved through the maze of bridges. He had designed this place in a way that made it hard for them to be raided. They had constructed areas with no one in them and used them mostly for storage as a means of confusing anyone hunting them.
He wondered that he would do if the boy was a fie bender. He looked down at the boy in his arms and considered what that would mean for the freedom fighters. Of all the children here, Bellamy was by far one of his favorites. Much of that had to do with how he came to be in this world, but he just cared for him a great deal more. It was ironic.
"Do you have any questions so far?" He asked, glancing toward her.

Suyin wanted to ask how the child was conceived to begin with, but she knew it wasn't her place to ask. So she didn't. "Okay," she said. Even though she knew she was safe and she had a good feeling about this place, it was still new and she doubted she'd be able to sleep well. It had just been a different setting nearly everyday for the past few weeks and it was slightly stressful and hard to get comfortable. Hopefully since she was going to be here for awhile she could finally learn to sleep well again.
As they walked, she took in the scenery of the area. It was a really intricate and detailed set up and she was surprised. When he said he lived in trees she kinda got the idea that it was sort of a barbaric setting, She had no idea it looked like this. It was actually a city. In the trees.
"Not at the moment," she said, contemplating if there was anything she needed to ask him. Nothing came to mind. "Maybe tomorrow when I've had a chance to collect myself." She looked at the boy in his arms and wondered why they trusted her enough to leave him with her.

AS they walked through the tress, Jet felt amazing. It felt so amazing to be home. The way things smelled, the way it looked, the way things were. It was like nothing else. He missed this place, he missed being home. His home. The home he built for the people who were still here. The home he built for those who kept coming. HE was worried the freedom fighters had gotten smaller, but they had gotten larger. That made him feel so much better.
Jet led her into one of the houses when they approached one. The doors had no locks and opened easily. He went inside the home and softly put the boy into a large bed in one of the rooms. There were toys here and there but it was mostly clean. "Do you mind sleeping in here with him?" He asked, looking to Suyin. "I promise you'll be safe." She seemed reluctant, so he gestured for her to come over.
He sat on the bed and gestured for her to sit beside him. "I know... this is probably hard for you, to be ripped away from your home and find yourself in a place you know nothing about. I felt the same way... when I was in certain parts of the earth kingdom, even when I went to the fire nation. I felt like shit and I was always on edge. I want you to feel safe, even if you never accept it as your home." He shrugged himself out of the dark jacket he was wore and wrapped it around her shoulders. "So you have something familiar. I'll come check in on you in the morning. Do you need anything before I go? Do you want me to stay until you fall asleep?"

Suyin followed behind as they entered the house. The home was spacious yet quaint and cozy due to the material it was made of. Something about wood always gave off that "warm" feeling. When they entered the room and he set the boy down, she herself sat down hesitantly. "Okay, sure." she replied, eyes wandering around the room as she took it in.
She felt a weight on her shoulders and she looked up, noticing his jacket. It was warm from being against his body. She smiled at him. "It's okay, I got myself in the situation," she answered. "And I get why you wouldn't feel at home in the Fire Nation, it's a really different place than here." Her hands reached up to tug the jacket around her. It was much bigger than her but really cozy.
She gave him a nod when he said he'd come back in the morning. Her golden eyes fell to the little boy. She hoped he wouldn't wake up and get freaked out that he was in here with a stranger. "No, I'm okay," she answered when he asked if she needed him to stay. "I'll see you in the morning." When he left, she laid back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. The jacket covered a good portion of her body and kept her warm. It smelled like him, which sort of helped. Like he'd said, it was nice to have something familiar.
She closed her eyes but she didn't bother to sleep, instead she just rested.

Jet watched her as she settled into the bed. He nodded when she said he didn't need her to stay. He still waited a few minute until he was sure she was comfortable.
When Suyin woke in the morning, she would likely smell breakfast cooking. There was nothing the alluring smell of bacon and the crackling of it cooking in a skillet.
"Jet brought her back, does that mean she's one of us?" Bellamy asked softly in another room.
"Why don't you ask Jet that question, hm?" His mother replied softly. Amaranth looked toward the room and patted her son's head. "Go wash up for breakfast." When Bellamy left the room, Amaranth softly came into the room and put a warm basin of water next to the bed with a cloth for her to wash her face and hands when she woke. She then placed out some bandages next to the basin and something for her to brush her teeth. Once she left, she started to plate things for breakfast. She didn't want to wake Suyin, but wanted to make sure she had everything she needed. If the water cooled, she could always reheat it. After all, Amaranth knew she was a fire bender.

Suyin woke from her light slumber to the sound of birds chirping outside the window. For a moment she was tense because of the unfamiliar setting, but once she remembered where she was she relaxed. Slowly, she sat up, Jet's jacket falling off her shoulder. She slid out of it as she sat up, looking around the room. She noticed the basin of water and the materials next to it. Assuming it was for her, she slid off of the bed and began the daily routine of waking oneself up - washing her face, brushing her teeth. Then she undid the bandages around her neck so that she could clean the area and replace them.
Her fingers skimmed the scarred tissue. The wound itself was healed now but still slightly tender to the touch. Truthfully she probably didn't need to have it bandaged anymore, but she felt more comfortable that way. Keeping it covered made her feel more confident. She cleaned the area and then re-bandaged it.
Once she was done with the usual daily tasks, she cleaned the area up. There was talking outside the door and she thought maybe Jet was out there. She picked up the jacket she left on the bed and slid it back over her shoulders with a slight shiver - the air was pretty chilly this early in the morning.
She opened the door to the bedroom and stepped out. Immediately her eyes spotted Bellamy and then his mother. "Oh, good morning," she said politely. "Um, is Jet here?" she asked, hoping for a familiar face.

Amaranth looked up as Suyin entered and she gave her a warm smile. "Good morning. He's not here at the moment, but he should be back soon." She encouraged. Then she stood up and walked toward the stove. She was wearing black clothing with dark armor. IT was made of metal, but not as refined as Jet's. Although she was not tall, she had elegant features, almost as if she was upper class. Her skin was tinted a dark amber, no where near as dark was Jet was. Her green eyes were slanted, complimented with high cheek bones and large lips. Her hair reached her shoulders, but still had large wavy curls that crowded her face with black hair. She bent forward to grab a pan from the stove and brought it to the table and brought it to the table, making Suyin a plate of bacon, some eggs, homemade bread, and jam. She placed it on the table and placed the pan back on the stove.
She sat in her chair and crossed her legs, watching the girl. "Please, eat. I want you to feel safe here. For the time being, the Freedom Fighters are mine, which makes you my responsibility and I won't have it said that I was ungracious to you. We're all glad you're here." Amaranth always held her head high, and given her height, this made her appear over confident or full of ego. Her voice was soft and soothing, much like what one would expect for a mother.
Bellamy was playing with his toys while the two of them were in the kitchen. "I know... this is likely a strange way to meet someone. I am Amaranth and it is a pleasure to have you with us, Suyin. If you need anything, I hope you will come to either myself or Smellerbee."

Suyin followed her to the table, taking a seat. She hadn't been hungry before, but smelling the food made her realize that she, in fact, was. Her golden eyes followed the woman around the room carefully. Even when she felt at ease, she constantly was aware of her surroundings. It was something her father had taught her to do.
When Amaranth brought the food to her, she looked down at the plate. It really looked delicious. The last time they'd had an actual put together meal like this was when they were in the village where Meng lived. She didn't want to seem to eager, but she picked up her utensils and started eating. "Thank you," she said, kindly, appreciative of the meal.
She gave a slight bow to the woman from her seat. "I'm glad to be here. This place is like Jet described it, if not better. It's really amazing what's been done here." As she talked, her eyes skimmed the room again, noting the structure of the place. Everything seemed handcrafted, most likely by the people here.
The one thing she quite enjoyed was that they were away from a city or town. Everyone here seemed to know one another so there was that comfort between them. It seemed to nice to be a part of that.

Amaranth was glad she was eating and seemed to enjoy it. The girl was going to need her strength if she was to stay here, "Oh?" She asked, a little curious. "What did Jet describe?" A part of her wondered if she talked about what he had built here or the people he had left behind.
She then grabbed a scone and started to eat it with a bit of butter herself, eating over a mall plate. It was still warm and smelled like cheese. "I'm glad you're happy to be here, the way you speak about us makes it seem Jet didn't totally forget everything while he was away.
When she looked around, Amaranth smiled and looked around as well. "Yeah, it really is amazing. You can always tell who made the houses by the hearth and the main door way." She pointed to her hearth. "See how it's rounded and made with oak?" She asked. Then she pointed to the main door, which had a large and thick frame on both the top and the sides. IT was stained in a dark brown tone. "Most of the houses have this pattern. You'll see as you visit more homes." She added with a grin.

Suyin gave a nod. "He didn't," she answered, spreading some of the jam on the bread. "He talked a lot about this place and the people before we went to sleep at night. I don't know him incredibly well, but I could tell that he missed it a lot." Often when they slept around the camp, Jet, Smellerbee, and Longshot would often reminisce about living with the freedom fighters. She would stay awake at times, listening to them. Sometimes Jet would talk to her about it too. He really was proud of them.
She took a small bite of bread. The jam was lightly sweet and tasted like strawberries. It was delicious.
Her eyes followed Amaranth's finger when she pointed to the door. "Is that how you guys make them here? Like the builders follow a certain pattern?" she asked. It made sense as it sort of unified the different sized houses. Each house, she noted as they walked, were made of wood obviously but they were all different shapes and sizes but all still very practical. "It's very beautiful," she said. "Whoever makes them is really skilled with the craft."
