There was always something about chemistry that made everyone's brain explode. So many unneeded and incomprehansiable numbers, letters, symbols. There they were, arranged on the board in a semi straight line, the heavy air hot with the boiling temperature from the boiler room which was two doors down in the thick aired basement.
The air wasn't clear, a thick fog hung in it from smoke and chalk dust. It was... twenty degrees hotter than the rest of the schools. Girls fanned themselves as males loosened their ties and unbuttoned their shirts.
James tie was pulled down, the knot around his chest, rather than at his neck. His tie pulled low, almost undied and undone. It was heavy, like a lead weight around his neck. His overcoat had long been disrobed, resting against his chair. His eyes lids were heavy, threatening to close behind his glasses. He'd spent most of the night studying for an exam, and with three hours of sleep he could barely keep his eyes open now that he was at his 11 am class, in this blistering heat, tired, bored, and unable to focus on the most useless class in the world.
Closing his eyes, he was trying to stay awake. THe teacher's voice shot through the room like a bullet and he sat up, not allowing his weight to rest on his hand anymore. He needed to stay awake. The teacher thought it was best to rearrange seats to keep them "interacting" with their peers.
Sitting down in his new seat in the front row - just what he needed - a girl was sitting next to him. One he'd never seen before and could tell by her uniform that she was a freshman.
A/N: This school is a magic school, they can learn whatever, and I don't want it to be based off of Harry Potter. A few ideas from there are fine, but the last thing I want is another rip off HP rp. Anyone is free to join. I expect the female's role to be taken. Have fun. Please/Thanks.

Astraea was already copying notes down almost word for word, there was no room for errors here, despite how pointless many of the others thought it was, everything had a purpose, no matter how small, someday even the slightest miscalculation could ruin a spell, or a wrong number could turn a life-saving potion into a deadly poisen.
And perhaps concentrating on her notes would keep her mind off how annoyingly short her skirt was, or perhaps it wasn't the skirt's fault, but thanks to her height, her whole family was tall, at least all that she could remember, and with her shapely long legs it certainly seemed shorter than it probably was, not to mention back at home she always wore long dresses so to her, knee-length was short, and this was just embarassing. It also didn't help that her brother had teased her all morning about it.
Suddenly a fragment of a pencil (or what do they write with?) hit James in the back of the head. Giren was etching something with such a heavy grip that it snapped, Giren cursed under his breath as he looked around for a spare. He of course was not writing down notes but drawing things, little doodles and comics all over his parchment. Unlike most of the kids up front, this kid was practically hidden in the back of the room, his face and hair oily and not well cleaned, his uniform was also worn and old, probably second-hand, it wasn't even tucked in properly, a button was missing and his tie hung around his neck not even tied. And though he couldn't really see it from where he sat there were a few specks of dried blood on the kid's cheek.

Feeling something hit him, he grew irritated, but did nothing about it. This was why he didn't write notes for this class. Everyone that was written on the board was copied from the book. There was so real purpose for copying something now he could read on his own. His exam had been in the class he had from eight until 10:50. Now of course, he realized he should have skipped this class to go back to his dorm and sleep for a few hours. This particular charming class was useless to him and he had no interest in taking it. At least, not now. His eyes just grew heavier and heavier. This class was two hours long and he felt as if he'd die if he continued to stay. There was no way he could stay awake for the rest of this class. It was so hot. THe air was stigfling. Closing his eyes, he restd his head on his hand.
The girl beside him was writting with rapid speed, which caught Jame's attention. His eyes drifted to focus on her and just watch as the pen moved over the page. She seemed quite focused and had deceit handwriting. He watched her, almost like he was staring, but he was watching her hands rather than her face. Maybe it was just the sharp and rapid movements, but it was serving well to keep him awake.
He paid no attention to the male behind him, because, quite honestly, he didn't care. Something about his grades and the fact woman found him charming made a lot of men different or hostile towards him. Not that he cared. He had his own friends, so the thoughts of others were purely insignificant.

"Can I help you?" Astraea asked noticing he had been looking at her for quite some time now. She kept her voice down so the teacher wouldn't hear.
Meanwhile Giren used a spell to bring another kid's pencil to him, the kid was asleep and probably would think it just rolled off the desk. Giren went back to doodling images of mages killing soldiers.

James shook his head when she questioned him. "No, you're keping me from falling asleep, so it's all good." He said, moving some of his hair from his face. His hair wasn't strangely long, but it was long enough to hang in his face and get in the way. Moving his hand through his hair, he smiled. He continued to watch her, the teacher was now lechuring, talking about how to properly do something or other. to be honest, the green haired male wasn't actually listening. Yawning, he stretched and turned his focus to the teacher. Staring at freshman students tended to make them uncomfortable, so he decided not to stare at her and instead, attempt to pay attention to the lecutre.

Astraea wondered how she was keeping him awake but didn't let her mind wander too long, she had to get back to concentrating on the class, as soon as the teacher would finish the lecture and give them the class assignment she'd be ready, finishing most of it in class to allow more time to spend on other things without having to worry about homework.
A few kids' stomachs growled, they could smell the faint scent of food coming from the Cafeteria as lunch was being prepared.
Suddenly a boy walked through the door, Astraea tried to pretend like she didn't know him but it was clear in the way she looked at the boy that they were close. The boy had very similar features to Astraea, only more masculine, his skin tone and hair color identical, and if one could see his eyes they'd notice the peircing bluish green that seemed to look right through you also matched in both brother and sister. Of course he was older, the same grade level as James.
"I'm looking for a Giren Morgan, Charon wishes to speak to him" said Juno, not really caring that most teachers hated to be called by their first names. Or that it was usually unappreciated that another teacher call for a student in the middle of class. Giren withdrew into the corner of his seat, hating the fact that he was no longer invisible, he hated having the spotlight if even for a second as he was called for.
(OOC: Are you in control of the teacher? I don't want to post the teacher's reaction if that's part of your role)
