Alphonse nodded to her and stood up. "I'll go with you." He picked up the basket and walked with her. Mei had a small room that Alphonse normally stayed in with her. It was mainly because they were short on rooms. Al didn't have the ability to sleep, so he normally was just her protector - or at least she was now. As they went into her room, Al placed the basket on the edge of the bed, which her legs where too small to reach. This of course meant, she wouldn't accidentally kick them.
Ran Fan nodded. "I'm sorry." She leaned forward, bowing to him and looked up at him. "Come with me." She should have noticed he was tired, she was now mentally scowling herself for not noticing. How could she not!? He always had the same look on his face and it made her mad at herself. "I'll bring you to a place where you can sleep." Walking inside with him, she went up a small hallways to a staircase, climbing it and bringing him to the tiny second floor. She pointed into one of the rooms. "You should sleep." Her mask was around her waist and she smiled, grabbing it, showing she was going back outside.

Mei smiled, climbing up onto her bed. She was already in her pajamas because she had changed earlier. "Thanks Al." She began pulling out her braids, letting her long and wavy hair flow down her back. Yawning, she settled herself below the sheets and rolled over so she was looking at him. At first it had been pretty weird talking to a suit of armor and having it respond back like a human, but over time she'd gotten used to it. It was like there was someone actually there. She wondered how he looked like and if she'd be around Amestris long enough to see him when he got back to his body. Pushing the thought aside, she closed her eyes. "Goodnight.."
Ling grinned. "Thanks." He said, pulling off his shirt and tossing it over the chair. He undid his pony tail and sat down on the bed, sighing in relief. For the past year or so he had been sleeping on an old mattress and the floor, which he found more comfortable, so it felt good to finally have a bed. He stretched and then plopped down on his back, closing his eyes. He could feel himself start to slip away the second he fell back. His back relaxed and his head felt lighter. "'Night..Ran Fa.."

Ran Fan smiled as he closed his eyes and instantly fell asleep. he was always so tired. She couldn't say that she wasn't used to it; but it was in the same beat of her heart that she hated thinking what happened to him while they weren't together. F was angry about her arm and how she failed, he'd even struck her. Of course, she neglected to tell this to Ling this. He'd just died, telling him that would be like trying to undermine his death. This wasn't something she could bring herself to do. It made her heart pound thinking about it.
"Winry..." She muttered, walking into the shop she'd set up. Seeing her working, she stopped. "oh.. you're busy..." She muttered, biting her lip. "Forget it, never mind." Now she could say that she at least tried to get her arm looked at.

Winry lifted her head and looked at her, wiping off her grease stained hands with a towel. "Oh no it's fine, I was going to take a break to get something to drink anyway." she smiled and got up, stretching her arms over her head, hearing her back pop slightly. "So what's up?" She asked, walking out the room to the hallway where she was. As she left, she could hear the faint snores and a few words from Ed. Something about geese and potatoes. She picked up a glass out of the cabinet and poured some water into it, taking a sip.

Ran Fan sighed, instantly disappointed that she had time. It sucked, but she expected automail to be painful at certain times. "I... think I broke a nerve." She muttered, putting her hands behind her head. It didn't hurt too much, but it was enough to make her realize she should at least tell Winry. If it broke when she was with Ling she'd feel like even more of a failure. Letting him down twice, not to mention letting down Fu... she couldn't live with that...

Winry put her glass down. "I'll look at it, it's probably not that bad. I might just have to replace a wire." She left the room for a few minutes and came back with a few of her tools, taking her arm and unscrewing the cover so it opened and she could look inside. "Yeah, it's a wire, I think you just twisted wrong and snapped it. It's no big, I was sorta expecting worse when you came home today." She smirked and sat down, motioning for her to sit down next to her. "We can probably get it fixed in a about 15 minutes or so, you can keep it on." She said, starting to work. It was quiet for awhile before she smirked evilly. "So..Ling huh?"

Ran Fan felt her face heat up, but snorted a laugh to hide it. Rather than being honest, she decided it would be best if she was more negative. "So... Edward, huh?" She asked, tilting her head back to look at the ceiling. "Ling is from a much higher family then I am. When he becomes emperor, I will still be his servant, and his father will arrange a marriage between someone closer to his own social standing. A princess from a distant land, or an empress of sorts. My job is to protect him." She sighed.
"Besides... he's immortal. What use would he have for someone like me? I'm imperfect and disfigured. I've never seen anyone in Xing with automail. They might not even allow me back into the country after this."

Winry glanced up at her. "Oh come on, you're being way too hard on yourself. He cares about you, I can tell. Otherwise he wouldn't have come this far in search of you." She smiled. "And besides, when he's emperor don't you think he'll be the one deciding who he marries? He seems like a pretty stubborn guy, not like the type that would let his family persuade him into doing something he didn't want to, like marry someone he didn't want to." She said, disconnecting the wire from her nerve before taking it out and cutting a new piece to replace it with. "You're in high standing with a royal family. I'm a mechanic - not saying I'm not proud - that's not exactly what the guys 'dig'"

Ran Fan shook her head. "You don't understand how Xing works. No one marries because they're in love. It's almost all political or arranged. There's no disillusion of being in love and having things work out inn your favor. I wish it was different, but it's not. My parents had an arranged marriage. It doesn't surprise me at all that you think differently here. It doesn't work the same way. You're free to marry who you want." She put her chin on her hand.
"I'm not being hard on myself... I'm being honest. He deserves better than me." She stopped, her voice seemed weaker. "Not to mention.." She paused again. "He's immortal and the ultimate shield. He doesn't need me anymore."

Winry shrugged. "True, I don't know how Xing works but by the way you constantly talk about him I can tell he's a pretty good guy and loves his friends. Therefore I know that even the rules of Xing won't apply to him anymore." She shrugged. "Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know him. You do. All I'm saying is that you're not as insignificant as you think." She muttered, concentrating on fitting the wire into the correct place. Ran Fan had this done before so she didn't have to warn her about the pinch that would come along with it. It was just one nerve so it wasn't as bad as connecting a full arm but it could frighten a person if they didn't see it coming.

Ran fan shook her head. "I never said that I don't care about him and that I don't love him." She said sternly. "I'd die for him... I grew up by his side and my entire existence has been based on protecting him. I remember the first time I trained I ended up getting hurt." A sweet smile drifted onto her face. "He was there, and he put a bandaid on my knee. I knew then that I'd go t the ends of the Earth for him and risk it all. I was prepared to die for him when I lost my arm. He wouldn't leave me behind. That's just the man that he is. He's perfect..."
A solemn look crossed her face. "Which... is why he and I can never to together. He deserves someone that's perfect too."

Sighing, Winry closed her arm and screwed it shut. "And I never said that you don't care for him or that you don't love him. I'm saying the opposite." She closed her box of tools and got up. "I wish I could help but I'm not exactly skilled in this topic, but what I do know.." She said, pausing and pointing at her face. "Is that by the vibe you're giving off now, I know you like the boy and I kinda get the feeling that he likes you too. And in my opinion, when stuff like that happens, you shouldn't even care about 'rules'. Also, if he's going to become and emperor, he can change any rule he wants right?" She laughed slightly. "I would suggest staying in Amestris but our country fails at peace, even I don't want to be here anymore.."

Ran Fan moved her arm. It felt better and she smiled in thanks. Hearing what she said, the smile didn't fade, it grew a bit wider. "Thank you Winry, but I doubt something like that would happen. If Ling were to change the rules, I doubt it would be for someone like me." She got up and walked out of the room. "I'll be back around dawn." She moved her arm and the blade instantly shot out of the elbow socket in her automail.
She paused. "I doubt you'll need me because you have Edward, but if you do." She grinned. "You know how to get me back." She darted off into the woods to parole the area. Now that Ling was here, she felt even more compelled to do this.

S E N R A; a small town 8:36 AM
"I can't believe you! I'm going to beat you so hard your grandchildren will be born with dented heads!" Someone yelled as Ed exited the room, seeming annoyed. "No wait, the only grandchildren you'll ever have are the ones Alphonse produces because you're too much of a jerk for anyone to even attempt it!" A flash of silver flew out of the room and hit him on the head just as he was about to turn the corner. Winry left the room after it, picked it up off the ground, and shoved passed him, stomping off down the hallway.
Ling came down the stairs rubbing one of his eyes. He wobbled slightly as he walked. "Inside voices please, I'm still technically asleep." He said yawning, almost running into one of the walls ahead. Even though he had barely been in the house for one day he knew exactly the way toward the kitchen. "I'm huuungry~" He whined, his tummy growling, agreeing with him. His eyes were still closed but that wasn't a surprised. He felt his way around for a chair to sit down on. "Are you making food?" He asked seeing Winry in the kitchen. "And where's Ran Fan?"
Winry glared at the bag she was searching through. "No, I'm going to the market to pick up stuff so we can make breakfast, but thanks to Mr. Asshole over there I can't remember where I left the list of the market money." She turned and sent a narrowed glare at Ed.

Alphonse sighed. He was outside, leaning against the wall. Why did this happen all the time? Why couldn't brother just keep his mouth shut?" He wondered, the large empty glove rubbing one of the kittens which rested in the basket on his lap. They were outside most of the time. Mostly to keep watching but also because Mei discovered last week why Winry was so threatening to Alphonse.
Ed glared at her. "What do you mean you can't believe ME?!" He yelled back, following her out of the room. He was still shirtless, but was wearing pants. His leg was back; his arm on the other hand was disconnected from his body. This threw him slightly off balance. "How was I supposed to know that you was your breakfast?! I woke up and you called me downstairs! I assumed it was mine. You were walking away with my arm and left the food on the table. Of course I ate it!" He called back objectively.
Hearing Ling, he looked over at him, examining him. He was quite pleased to see that it was in fact Ling and that Greed wasn't joining them this morning. If there was one thing he hated, it was waking up to greed. Feeling Winry's cold stare, he turned around to glare back for a moment. "What? Do you want me to go with you and help you carry stuff?" he asked. "Just give me back my arm and I'll go..."
