Winry sighed. "That's not what I'm...forget it." She shoved a piece of paper and some money into her pocket and left the room, tugging his human arm so he followed her. "That's actually a good idea, I'm gonna need some help, but you better not start whining about how much you hate shopping around." She picked up his arm from the table and hooked it up, looking up at him for a second before she pulled he lever that connected his nerves to the automail, holding a hand on his back in case he fell over. She gave him a minute before he regained himself, letting him go after checking to make sure it hooked up correctly. "Well, I'll be in the kitchen, come out when you're dressed and we can go."
Mei poked her head outside. "Found you! Hey, since Winry's got a new pack mule, do you want to go for a walk?" She asked, stretching her arms above her head. "I need some fresh air and maybe we could go find some toys for the cats." She said, holding Xiao Mei against her shoulder, she was still asleep and shifted here and there, waking up before going back to sleep. Mei reached down and pulled on her shoes before making her way down the small stone steps.

Ed looked confused when she said that's not why she was mad. Then why was so mad at him?! Ugh... why where woman this difficult? He followed her when she dragged him along and he spread his legs a little bit more apart when she was about to connect his arm. Normally they did both at once, but she didn't fix them both at the same time. He gritted his teeth as the pain ripped through his body.
He's grown used to it, so the pain was nothing. It was a forced reaction for him to not make any noise. A hand was on his bare skin and he turned around to leave. "I just need a minute." He said walking away. He grabbed his shirt and pulled it on. Getting dressed he wrapped his jacket, swinging it around his shoulders. It felt good to have to arms again as they moved through the sleeves. "I won't complain." He said, smirking at her.
As much as they fought, he was glad to see her, and glad she was ok. Not that he liked getting yelled at; but it wasn't as if he wasn't used to it.
Alphonse smiled at her. "Sounds good. Do you want to take them with me?" He asked, smirking at the small girl beside him. "I can always put them inside of me." He looked down at the small girl and picked up the basket, taking off his head. Placing it down on the floor, he bent down so Mei could jump inside of him and put the basket down. Leaving the basket here with anyone in the house was a bad idea. This was mainly due to the fact Ed would normally give them away like he did with all the cats Al found. Not to mention he'd seen Greed and didn't want to push it.
Al walked with Mei down the stairs once she jumped out of his body and he put his head back on his body. As the two walked, he smiled, looking down at the small girl. Reaching down, he pulled one of her braids out of her shirt where it was stuck - more than likely when she dressed.

Winry picked up her jacket. Around this area it was usually cool in the morning so she brought it along just to be safe, she could always take it off and put it in one of the bags if she got hot. When he finished dressing and came out of the room she walked out of the house with him, looking over as Mei and Al went to leave. "Breakfast will probably be done around 10 so make sure to come and eat." She called after them.
Looking at Ed, she walked off with him towards the market. It was usually fairly crowded even though it was a pretty small town. Then again, it was one of the free towns under the protection of the Resistance which made me people want to be there. "Let's go to the bakery first." She smiled and walked off slightly ahead. She hadn't meant to get angry at him but he'd been nagging at her for his arm which usually meant he was headed somewhere. It made her wonder if he was actually going to leave after he'd just arrived. Then again, it didn't surprise her. Show up, get his brother, and leave to fight evil again. Sighing, she pushed open the door to the bakery.
The smell of fresh bread instantly hit her, along with the sweet sugary aroma from the pastries as Sanya removed them from the oven. "Hello Winry, you need something sweetie? I have bread fresh out of the oven." The old woman turned to face them placing the loaves of bread down. Her thin grayish eyebrows rose. "Now, who's that young fellow...is that.." She pushed her glassed up toward her eyes."Mr. Elric? the young alchemist boy who the towns been talking about?" She chuckled. "Everyone said he'd be shorter..."
Mei nodded. "Okay." She put the kittens down before popping back out of the suit of armor and onto her feet. Hiding inside of him wasn't as weird as it had been before. "Where do you want to go?" She asked. "We can go to the park or that path we found a few days ago." She smiled at him when he pulled out one of her braids. "Thanks." She pushed it out of her face and walked off with him, not really caring where they went. It wasn't exactly safe walking around when the military could strike at any time but she decided it was better than sitting inside all day.
The meowing echoed out of the Al's armor, making a few people turn their heads and look but if they had lived around this area long enough they didn't think anything of it.

Edward nodded. "Sure thing." He loved the smell of baked bread, inhaling the sweet scent of pastries and fresh bread. Smiling happily, he walked inside. He seemed surprised that this woman knew Winry by name. It shocked him even more to discover that she knew his. "Yes... I'm Edward Elric." His eyes suddenly widened and he almost yelled at her until he heard what it is she said. "shorter...?" he muttered, looking over at Winry, glaring at her slightly. "What's that supposed to mean?" his voice was even, but it was low and he seemed fairly annoyed by what she said.
Al knew that they could be attacked, but the two of them were strong enough to hold their own. he was continually surprised by Mei's skill and how well she used alchemy. He'd been trying to learn from her, and he'd been teaching her a few things. He got along well with her, but she didn't seem to want to be talked out of her search for immortality. More so than anything, he wanted her to be safe. He knew that she wanted to find Scar and Marcoh. she felt safe with them and they were her company; in a sense. Al on the other hand, thought she was much safer with them.
Ran Fan came back inside expecting to see people, but was surprised that no one was there. She was going to switch with someone and crash for a while. However, she decided against it and went inside. Getting something to drink, she gulped down four or five glasses of water before putting the cup down and walking out of the room. Her eyes narrowed when she heard something moving behind her. She tilted her head to see it, and she sighed. "I'm guessing you're hungry?" She asked, walking over to where Ling was, sitting by the couch.
"You can go and sleep in my room if you want?" She sat down on the edge of the couch. The look on her face was that of exhaustion; and there was a small amount of blood on her black cloak. "Here." She took out a bag and handed him some pastries she'd went to town to grab for him - knowing he'd be hungry and that there wasn't much food left in the house. Not to mention her first priority was to watch and protect him, not anyone else in the house. At least, not anymore.

Winry laughed slightly. "Take it as a compliment Ed, it just means you got taller." She smiled at the old lady. "I just need the usual, a few more loaves this time though."
Sanya nodded, letting out another chuckle. "I haven't seen Winry with another boy the whole time I've known her besides customers and that little one in the armor...your little brother right? Alphonse. He comes with her to the market." She asked looking at Ed. She'd known Winry back in Rush Valley but moved away just before the war started and was relocated here. "The bubbliest kid I've seen in ages, he never let those terrible stories shake him." She said, referring to Al. With a smile she packaged the loaves of bread in a brown bag, handing it to Winry. "Keep that one around hunny, he's got some muscle on him, would do a woman good around the house.." She said before turning to look at the door behind her. "Roger! You'd better have that window fixed by the time I come upstairs or you'll really have pain to complain about!" She yelled, shaking her head. "Nothing like that old geezer..."
Winry's cheeks reddened barely and she took the bag from her, handing her some money to which Sanya to which she shook her head. "This ones on the house dear."
Mei smiled and walked off. Xingese alchemy was called alkahestry and was more used for healing rather than fighting but Mei used it for both. She had to, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to get the immortality she was after. "I can't believe Ling got it before I did. I have to hurry, otherwise his family will take the throne and the rest of us will have nothing." She shook her tiny fist in the air. "If we found the philosophers stone you could get your body back and I could get the immortality I'm after, but this wars making everything harder."
Ling lifted his head up and shook it. "No thanks. Too hungry to sleep..or even move.." He said, adding pause to make it seem more dramatic. His head perked up when he smelled the food she'd gotten for him. "Yes!" He snatched it and shoved his hand into the bag and the food was quickly deposited into his mouth. He sighed with delight. "Thanks." He muttered through bites. Ran Fan knew how to take care of him, whether it was watching his back to make sure no one was spying or planning to attack him or making sure he was well fed so he didn't pass out. Needless to say, he didn't know how much longer he could have lasted without her.

Ed turned away, seeming content with the fact Winry said he was taller. That made him feel proud, and he instantly thought of what she said about a boy being shorter than her carrying her and how embarrassing it was. He felt proud and it wasn't until how that he realized he was taller than she was. Something inside him made him swell with pride. A grin came to his face and he took the bread from Winry, going to carry it.
Hearing the woman's words however, he nearly dropped it. As if his neck was automail, it turned to the side, staring intently at the woman with a confused and deadly look on his face. "Wh-what?!" He asked, feeling Winry walk by, pulling his jacket so he didn't cause a scene. Sighing, he continued to walk with her.
A silence overtook them before Edward boldly decided to break it. "Where do you want to go now?" He asked quietly, his eyes on the ground.
Alphonse looked down at Mei and sighed. "Ling gained immortality but he almost lost himself in the process. The philosopher stone is created with hundreds and thousands of human lives. Doesn't that bother you?" he asked, looking down at her. "Many people died for the stones that have already been created, most of them that were used were Scar's people. You don't want immortality if people have to die to get it, do you?" He asked, looking down at the small girl beside him. it worried him to think she was still considering this and that she wanted it. Ling went far to get what he wanted, and he was unable to predict and could be dangerous when Greed surfaced. Alphonse knew that the two were having a constant internal battle for control and dominance.
Ran Fan smiled at him. Instantly, she seemed pleased that he was eating and happy with it. Taking out another bag, she put it down in front of him. This one had a lot of pastries and sweets in it. In other words, food that would give hi a sugar rush and would keep him going until Winry returned with something more suitable for breakfast. Sitting in front of him, she watched him eat with a smile, not objecting at all to the rapid nature with which he was eating. Normally she'd tell him to slow down a little before he choked. "You slept well right?" She asked. "They got that bed for me when we arrived, but I've only slept in it twice... so it should still be fairly new and comfortable."

Winry smiled and pointed ahead. "Basically everything else, we can stroll around and picked up what we need." She said. There were stands set up around the place with fruits and vegetables and various other things. Meat was indoors to keep it out of the heat as well as dairy products and bread was inside because that was where it was baked, almost everything else though, was outdoors. It wasn't all just food either, there were things like beaded necklaces and vases and rugs, just about anything. "Maybe we should make blueberry pancakes." She said, stopping in front of the blueberry stand. She got some and paid the the man working it. "And maybe get some milk." She looked back, smirking, testing his reaction to see if he still hated it as much as he did before.
Mei sighed. "I know but..Al you don't understand...I can't go back to Xing without anything, everyone's going to mock me and my family's depending on me. I know that the philosophers is made of hundreds of human lives, but if I can't find any other way then...And your body, you need it to get it back. How else would you do it? I mean, you aren't creating the stones. Those people are dead either way and you can't bring them back, don't you think it's better that they died for SOMETHING?" She shook her head. "Maybe I'm wrong, but I just know that I need to find a way fast, otherwise the other families will lose their standings. I'm a girl Al, they could sell me off if they had no other choice."
Ling finished the food and took the other bag. "Thanks." He repeated. Nodding, he smiled. "Yeah, I slept great up until the point when I heard arguing. I haven't slept in a bed for awhile now, it felt good." He smiled, stretching slightly and leaning back against the couch. He was feeling better now that he'd gotten something to eat. He was feeling less tired. "Why don't you use it?" He asked, blinking. "Where do you sleep? It's not good to let a bed go to waste, and you need the sleep too. Don't tell me you're out when you should be sleeping..." He said suspiciously. "When we came Winry mentioned something about you fighting.."

Edward grinned. "Pancakes sounds good." he said, nodding. He followed her, taking the bags from her. He felt bad considering he came and she was trying to carry stuff. He pulled his wallet out of his pocket. "here." he said, looking down at her. "With how much I eat, I feel like I'll make you go bankrupt if I make you buy all this. Save it." he said, almost forcefully. "Buy something nice that you want rather than something you need." He wasn't looking at her in the eyes, and a light blush was on his face.
All the people around here knew her by name and liked her a lot. They seemed close to her, and that made him smile. Winry had a habit of touching and being loved by all the people that met and knew her. It made him feel special. She cared a lot for him, and even if they fought he knew that it would work out and the war would end. "I'm also going to have to go see Roy later. Do you know where he is?"
Alphonse sighed. "I'll never allow anyone to get my body back by using those lives." he said sternly. "They died for the purposes of the stone, not because they were dying naturally. It was deliberate and intentional. I can't ignore that. As much as I want my body back... As much as I want to be able to eat, feel the sun, and see my body; I refuse to do it at the expense of all those people's lives. I'd rather destroy the stone and put them to rest..." His voice was firm. "I'll never let them sell you Mei. I'll go back with you and protect you if that's what it takes. To be honest, I'm curious to see what your country looks like."
Smirking at her, at least on the inside, he bent down, taking her hand in his own, stopping her. Kneeling down in front of her, the glowing red eyes met her brown ones and in a stern voice said; "I promise to protect you, no matter the cost. I'll help you gain whatever you need to help your family, but I'll never allow you to use the philosopher stone... I can tell that you'd enjoy it at first, but it would haunt you." he moved her hair from her face tenderly. "Please Mei... give up on the stone like I did..."
Ran Fan smiled at him when he said he slept better than he had in months. It made her feel good inside. She felt herself slowing with pride. "I... don't usually sleep in the house." She said with a small laugh. "To be perfectly honest... I was out looking for you or fighting. A key core of the rebellion was located here. It's why the town is so secure and why people flock and flourish here. When we arrived they had a problem with officers sneaking in, raping or killing others. When we arrived, the problem stopped." She smiled at him. "I've been protecting the people here and watching over Winry. After what she did for me... I feel like I owed it to her for what she did for me."

Winry smiled at him and shook her head. "It's fine Ed, I've taken enough of your money in the past." She tucked the money back in his pocket. "I sold one of my better models to a guy yesterday, so we have more than enough to buy groceries and some more automail parts." They weren't wealthy or even close to it, but they could live off the money they had. Winry was one of the few automail mechanics stationed here that managed to escape from the military so they would have enough for food, bills, and other necessities. She took the wallet he had held out in front of her and tucked it back into his pocket. She didn't want to make it seem like they could hold their own. Wait..were his cheeks..nah. Glancing around, she pointed to a house far off. "That's usually where he stays when he's here."
Winry bit her lip slightly. "You're not planning on leaving soon are you?" She asked, trying to sound casual even though she was worried that they would. It had been almost a year since she'd heard from him, if he went off again god knows when she'd see him again.
Mei watched him for a second before she took one of his fingers into her hand, it was big enough. She frowned. "Fine." She was thinking about what he said, and well...it made sense. But, she sighed, what was she supposed to do now? Xiao Mei stirred and sat up, looking around before she stretched and yawned, sitting up on Mei's shoulder. "So..what do we do now? Even if you managed to save me Al, I still love my family and I don't want to leave them. And you have to stay here, with your brother. I wouldn't take you back to Xing with me, your brother needs you. I just need to keep looking for some way, a loop hole, something. Ling found one, maybe I can too." She tapped her chin. "If that guy needs to bring back one of his homunculi..." She wandered off. It wasn't something she wanted but if worst came to worst...well, look at Ling?
Ling looked at her and his face became more serious. "I don't want you to keep fighting. There a difference between protecting someone and going out to fight. This isn't your burden, the war I mean. I don't want you to feel like you have to fix it, you're still in rehabilitation after all. How long have you had your arm, a few months? You shouldn't be out fighting in a state like this. You could..die. Like Fu. And then I'm alone and I can't go back to Xing with the two of you dead.." He said, becoming more worried. "I'm here now so you don't have to search for me anymore, I don't want you out at night looking for trouble. Tonight you're staying inside and sleeping, you need it."

Edward didn't seem pleased with that response, but sighed all the same. "Still... you have no idea what it's like trying to feed Ling and I together." he said, looking down at her. "At least take SOMETHING to help cover expenses." he whined, looking at her. "If not then make me pay you for maintenance for my automail last night." Like in the past, he was stubborn as ever and didn't show any signs of backing down from this argument. He really didn't want to take anything from her. When he did leave, she'd still need to live, and he intended to leave money with her.
Whether she wanted it or not. He'd put it in her wallet and leave before she noticed.
Pausing for a moment, he didn't answer right away. "I... don't want to leave right now..." he said seriously. "I want to make sure you're ok. I need to figure out what the resistance is planning and what I can do to help. I have to stop the Fuhrer King. I want to help Roy become Fuhrer. Then I'm going to pay him back, and take more, and make him promise to turn this country back into a democracy..." He seemed determined, a confident look crossing his face. "I do want to make sure you're alright. I intent to protect you, and if I have to take you with me to make that happen... then I'll do it!"
Al shook his head. "You don't have to leave them Mei. I'll help you protect them. I'll find a way to make things work out for you... I promise that I'll make sure you're safe." he picked her up and continued to walk. He wasn't sure why, but for some reason carrying her just made him feel better. He'd gotten used to carrying things in his travels with his brother. With Mei however, she was just so small and sweet. It was just easier to carry her. Not to mention she was inside of him a lot.
"I do want to see Xing, but I don't think I could live there for a long time." he said with a small laugh. "it would be nice to see. Ran Fan says it's beautiful there. You seem pretty fond of it too." Al sighed. "Ling didn't find a loophole Mei. he sold his soul. His soul is only one of two in that body. He changes from himself to Greed easily and rapidly. There's no warning. His voice just changes and he's an entirely different person. There are very few left. If you were to get what he did..." he trailed off. "You'd most likely be lust."
Hdidn't want to say this, but it was true after all. "If you became Lust... Mei." He looked down at her. "You'd be my enemy..." He was silent for a few moments. "I don't want to have to fight you. Many of the ones who undergo that transformation don't make it out alive. I don't want that for you. What happens if you die rather than live? What would happen to your family then? We've been with Ran Fan for a while... Don't you think Ling would make sure your family stayed safe?"
Ran Fan shook her head. "I wasn't out looking for a fight. I was looking for military officers that I know aren't on the non-monster side of this war. I kill or injure the ones that I know for a fact will hurt the people here. I occasionally bring them to the strong part of the resistance that's stationed here where they can interrogate more information. I was doing this to get used to this arm and make sure I'd be able to serve you upon your return. That was the purpose of this. You saved my life, and I'm making you proud for it. The skill I have with my arm is through practice, Ling-sama. I didn't learn it over night. During the day they normally have an alright watch. I take a nap around now, then I get up at noon and go back out. This isn't my war, but I was pulled into it..."
There was a pause. "I want to make him pay for what he did to me..."

Winry smirked. "Usually I'd make you pay for automail, but since I barely did anything to it and you didn't completely destroy it like you normally do, I'm not charging you. See, taking care of my work has it's advantages." She said, tossing a few apples into the bag. "Everyone's gotta get by Ed, even you. So it's best if you save it for yourself, you might need it." She said, as they made their way through the crowds of people. The only goal he'd started out with was to get their body's back, but he'd gotten so side tracked. It wasn't his fault, no of course not. Ed just wasn't the type of person to sit back and worry about himself when something else was going on, when other people were dying. It was only a matter of time before he would try and fix the war too, she saw it coming.
He was always growing, always changing - maybe not physically but definitely as a person. It made her feel slightly useless because all she could do was sit, make automail, and wait for him to come back. And then when he did, he left again, chasing yet another dream of his. Her life was, always had been, and always would be automail. That was as far as it got. And while automail was nice and shiny and probably the love of her life, there was only so much you could do with it. You could give a person back their arm, but you couldn't make them feel again.
"I want to help.." She looked back at him, turning around so she was standing in front of him, making him almost run into her. "I can't do much, I don't know alchemy and I can't fight like Ran Fan can, but I can study harder, learn even more about automail and then give you the best limbs I can, at least until you get your body back and don't need it anymore." She pointed a finger at him. "But when that happens you'd better not use that as an excuse to never visit again." She said sternly, but smiled at him.
Mei let him pick her up. Normally when a person did that to her she'd demand they put her down, because she had legs and could walk on her own. But she didn't really care much when he did it. She sighed, lifted Xiao Mei up and smiled at her. "We'll go back home soon, and we can show Al around Xing. Maybe convince him and his brother that's it's better there...maybe convince them enough to move there." She sent a sneaky look toward Al and smiled. Xiao Mei moved around and jumped up onto Al's head, using the spike to balance herself so she didn't fall off. She seemed to nod with Mei, looking down at Al slyly. Mei dropped the subject, deciding it was best if they discussed something a little more hopeful than her and her future of turning into a homunculus - which wasn't a high priority on her list. She could find immortality some other way.
Ling opened his eyes, something he only did when he was serious - really serious. "It's too dangerous Ran Fan. I'm not allowing you to go out alone again, you're supposed to be with me remember? Your job isn't to worry about Amestris and I don't want you to, I don't want you to worry about anything. I'm going to make that bastard pay for what he put you through. Greed has already betrayed him and now that I have what I want, he can die. He seems to like to think he's god and mess around with people's lives, but that's going to end. I don't want you getting involved, you've already lost an arm for me Ran Fan and I can't ask for anything else. If you were to die...I..I wouldn't be able to stand it. Fu has already died because of me, I can't let you die too. It has to end, or I'm going to send you to Xing alone."

Ed was really surprised at her reaction. It made him smile slightly, but he just sighed. "Oh.. Winry..." He said, looking over at her. He rested a hand on her shoulder, shifting what was in his arms to look into her eyes. "No... You're already the best automail mechanic there is. I can't imagine anyone doing what you do as well or as fast." HE moved her bangs from her eyes in order to continue looking into the beautiful sea blue pools. They were ocean like and it was so easy to get lost in the vast space they occupied.
"You're not a fighter. The greatest strength you have is helping people. You're the type of person that is best suited to helping others and making them happy. You give them back their happiness, their life..." he continued to stare deeply into her eyes. "their livelihood... Winry, you helping me be a dog of the military would violate everything I stand and worked so hard to keep you away from. I don't want you in danger or around me when I'm in danger. I can't let you be hurt... If that ever happened. I could never live with myself." He said, moving his hand from her cheek.
"You mean too much to me for me to allow that to happen."
Alphonse smiled when he felt Xaoi Mei move across his armor. It was strange to explain, but he wasn't sure if he actually felt it, or if he just knew it was happening. He didn't feel pain when the armor was broken; so he most likely didn't 'feel' the small panda moving over his prosthetic body. He did however know she was there. Looking down at the small girl in his arms, he sighed.
"Thank you, Mei. I promise to help you make things ok with your family. If I can get my body back; I'm sure we can find a way to make you immortal without the philosopher stone."
When his eyes opened, Ran Fan moved backwards slightly, knowing that he wasn't happy with what she had told him. She didn't move and the look on her face remained neutral as he lectured her. Sighing, she looked over at the wall. "Ling-sama.." She said sternly. "Listen, I was doing his to protect you. By paroling the area and making sure no one is around, you stayed safe. No one woke you up and I made sure you were alright. I checked on you every hour through the window and I made sure that you were still breathing. When I was sure you where ok, I went back to paroling around. I only got into two battles last night, and one of them couldn't really be considered a battle. I didn't even break a sweat." Trying to object to him in this way made it seem more polite and she wasn't insulting him.
"I took a vow to protect you. By your clan and from my grandfather. I will follow you around, defying your orders even if it means you banish me from Xing. I will follow you to the ends of the earth and protect you no matter what." She said, looking into his eyes. It made her smile despite the nature of their conversation. He had the most beautiful eyes. Not to mention... he was the only person she spoke to in Xingese. Rarely did she ever speak to Mei, and they only once spoke in Xingese.

Winry bit her lip to keep the blood from rising to her cheeks. When his hand dropped from her face, she took it and started walking again figuring that if they continued to stand there people would start to wonder. "You're my friend first and foremost. And I'm correct, you stopped obeying the military when it started ruining Amestris." She glanced back at him. "I don't care what kind of danger it gets me into, I'm not exactly safe just sitting around either. This place won't be military free forever. I'd rather die knowing I brought you a step closer to your goal than die regretting not doing so. Like I said, I can't perform sweet ninja moves or clap my hands and bring forth a wall of steel, but I can make sure nothing ever goes wrong with your limbs for as long as you wear them."
"And.." Her blue eyes drifted over to his metal limbs before stopping at his honey eyes. "I want to see you take your first steps on a real leg again. I want to see you be able to hug someone and feel it with both arms." On her face was a smile, one that was present a lot in their childhood. She reached into the bag and pulled out a few blueberries before biting her lip."Damn, I should have had breakfast started already. We just need to grab a few more things and then be on our way."
Mei smiled. "There's no 'if' it's 'when'." She said lifting a finger. She sat up and sighed. "I'm hungry, I hope Winry and Ran Fan started cooking..." She put a hand on her stomach and whined slightly. "Do you want to go back home now?" She asked, before peeking down to check on the kittens which seemed to be sleeping. "Maybe they're hungry too.." Xiao Mei rubbed her time on cue and made a whimpering sound, signaling that she too was hungry and wanted food. Mei hopped down and took Al's armor hand, pulling him along.
Ling sighed and rubbed his forehead, sitting up and crossing his legs. "Okay, but..It's just that, this isn't safe. I'm not even fighting yet and you're over here already in battle. I won't sleep tonight if that means watching you, because I will make you go back to Xing and wait until this is all over, if that means you're safe. Just, just don't get yourself killed for the sake of all that is under the watchful eye of whoever the hell is watching us and pushing the this shit onto us." He watched her, sighing. He'd never seen her so stubborn and not wanting to listen to him. His reddish eyes stared into her dark, yet warm, hues wanting nothing more than for her to just tell him she was giving up fighting. For the sake of her safety..

Edward looked down at her and sighed. "And you're mine..." he muttered softly in response when she said they were friends. "I Do care the danger it gets you into!" he said loudly. "I don't care if I don't follow the corrupted part of the military! I still follow the rebellion part of it! I was more scared for you all this time than I was for Alphonse! I know that you're not a fighter and that's what scared me! He threatened you! He said he'd kill you if I..." He trailed off, looking away from her.
Now he wished that he could take it back... His head jerked up and he wrapped onto her shoulders, dropping what he was holding. he held onto her, pulling her over to him, bending down, his eyes meeting hers and focusing intently, "Winry... if you want to see me walk on my real leg again..." he paused. "I want YOU to be the person I hug. I want YOU to be the first thing I feel with my limbs back." he said, shaking his head. "I need you to be there for me. I will do anything to make sure that you live and that you're there with me when it happens. Ok?"
Al nodded and started to walk back with her. He smiled at Xiao Mei and rubbed her head softly. He normally forgot that people around him got hungry because he no longer felt hunger. To be honest, he didn't even remember what hunger felt like. When he got his body back, would he recognize it? "Winry-chan makes breakfast every morning, and I'm sure she's on her way back now." He said, looking down at her. "Don't worry."
Ran Fan sighed. "Just because you're not fighting doesn't mean I shouldn't. Ling-sama, I'm a warrior. Fighting is what I do. I was born and raised to do exactly what I'm doing now. Anything that I think is necessary to protect you and make sure that you'll become emperor. Before we left I took a vow to do anything within my power to save you. Remember?" She asked, biting her lip softly. "I just want..." She sighed, looking down at the ground. "I'm worried about you. No matter what you say, I did fail you. Losing my arm is physical proof of that that I can never forget and will never be allowed to let go of. I see and feel it every day..." She looked at the ground.
"I'll do anything to protect you. Even if it means my life."

Winry widened her eyes, her cheeks darkening when he touched her. Azure blended with gold, the purest gold. The shock was evident, everywhere. On her face, in her eyes, across her slightly shaky legs, and even on the poor bystanders who'd managed to overhear. She recovered, held onto him with almost the same amount of force, and looked him in the eye again. "I don't deserve to be the first, not when I did nothing to help you recover them!" She said, tightening her hand over arms and she buried her head in his shirt. He smelled good. "You don't have to tell me anything, Ed. You can keep everything from me, you can tell me that it's none of my business. But I'm going to help you regardless. You do so much for everyone, you do so much for ME, so why can't I do something for YOU? I want to be apart of your life again, I don't want to see you once every few months.."
Mei smirked at him. "I know, I hope it's already done. I'm starving." She said, hopping up onto his back, her arms wrapping around the head of his armor, letting him carry her like that. "Hey, didn't you tell me once that you had a list of the things you would eat when you got your body back?" She asked, moving her feet slightly. "Maybe I could get you to try some Xingese food too, it's really good trust me. My grandma makes moon cakes whenever we're celebrating a holiday, they're really good. And when you get your body back it'll be like a holiday."
Ling frowned and fell back against the couch, groaning. He sat up quickly and sighed. "You can't if I tell you to stop.." He said slyly, leaning his face towards hers and smirking. "You know, since I'm a prince and all and you gotta follow my commands..but I have a better idea of dealing with this." He got up and smirked. "How about, if you beat me in a spar then I MIGHT let you continue your stupid antics, BUT if I win - you stop fighting unless for Amestris." He said taking her hand. It had been awhile since they sparred and they used to do it all the time when they got bored or wanted to warm up. They were both skilled in martial arts so it was always interesting. He leaned down so he was face to face with her. "Or are you scared of the big bad Ling?"
