Maka stumbled back when he jerked away abruptly, her eyes wide as she caught her balance. She stood staring at him, unsure of what to do. Soul never pushed her away before, not like that. He stood up too and suddenly, his voice was booming as he shouted. She continued to stare, her green eyes caught by his now burning crimson ones, moving only to flinch when he hit the wall. She slowly shifted her glance to his hand, which was shaking, blood forming at his knuckles from the strength he’d placed into that hit. Her shoulders rose a bit, tensing up. Her eyes met his eyes again and she wasn’t sure what to do or what he would do next; she wished she knew. He was so angry and upset and she was trying to remember the last time she’d seen him this way. Then the boy faltered, much to her surprise, and fell to his knees. His next words pulled at her heart, made something inside of her sink. With shaky knees, she followed him to the ground. Then, slowly, she laid her hands on top of his, keeping them pressed against the ground. She leaned in until their faces were decently close. “Stop,” she whispered.
“Stop apologizing, stop saying stupid things…just stop thinking.” She stared at him, her green eyes hardening again, her eyebrows pulling down. “You’re right, you’re not Wes…who the hell cares? Maybe the two of you look the same, I don’t know, I’ve never even seen him…but you are definitely not the same person! You’re never going to be like Wes and Wes is never going to be you because you’re two different people! So maybe I’m a little biased since I’ve never met your brother. And let’s say your brother is this great musician or whatever, but can he turn his arm into a scythe? Can he fend against Kishins and eat their souls afterward? No, he can’t do anything of that. Has he ever learned about sacrifice and how easily life can be cut short? What about driving his partner insane with worry? He hasn’t, because he’s never jumped in front of a blade for someone without so much as a care about whether or not he’ll survive it.” Slowly, she slid her hands off of his, lifting them lightly to place on either side of his face. She moved his head upward so that he was looking at her. “That girl that you saved that day, she never forgets about that. And she doesn’t care about how great your brother is or that you’re not good enough. She doesn’t see a guy named Wes or the things that he’s done; she only sees you, Soul, because you’re the one who’s always there and the one who never gives up on her even though most people would. If you ask her what instrument is her favorite, she’ll say piano because it’s the one that you play. Her favorite music is the one that your hands create because it’s always the one that she understands the best, because it’s you.”
And sometimes, she worries how much longer you’ll stay with her.
Maka slid her hands off of his face, pulling herself back up to her feet. She looked down at him with firm eyes. “Now stand up, you don’t belong on the ground,” she demanded.
Kid smiled. “Good, I’m glad that I made the right choice,” he said, happily. He knew that she enjoyed Italian food and therefore had made sure that he chose the best place with the finest Italian food so that she could enjoy it. Either way, it was good to double check and make sure her tastes hadn’t changed, otherwise he would pick a different place for them to eat and reserve a table there. Luckily though, she still preferred Italian. It made him smile. At least he was able to figure that out. Actually, last night, when he’d headed to bed, he’d stared at the ceiling for a good hour or so debating over the things he should do. Was he to buy her flowers? Would she think that was too forceful or that he was going to ask something of her? And if she did like flowers, what kind was he supposed to buy for her? She liked lilies right? He was pretty sure she did but he never knew exactly and he didn’t want to make a mistake. Oh god, what if he bought her flowers that she was allergic to?! Oh not…What if he killed her?! What if she was allergic to the food there? Or the drinks? Or the air? What if she---
He stopped suddenly, feeling, once again, that same painful feeling he’d felt from her earlier. He looked back down at her, blinking. Should he ask? There were a lot of people there and he knew that if he brought it up here, it would make her angry. Liz didn’t like for the whole world to know her problems. Then…she became happy again? He blinked, confused for the most part. Well, then again, she was a girl and they changed emotions a lot…especially during their menstrual period. Maybe it was something he could bring up during dinner that night, when she was away from everyone else and they were alone. Yeah…that was a good idea. He could definitely do that. But she was feeling better now and that was what was important.
“I’m also taking her to a nice dessert café. There’s a gourmet chocolatier not too far from here. I’ve had it once or twice, maybe you guys should try it one day too?” he asked, trying to make small talk because they were suddenly all staring at him really weird…like he’d done something strange. Oh no, they all thought it was a date too, didn’t they?

Soul wasn't sure what was going to happen, but Maka was suddenly holding him. Her hear poured over him and he never felt better about himself. No one had ever laid out for him what he was, and what Wes was. They had never told him that they preferred him. That they wanted Soul to be Soul. And that's all he ever wanted to hear. His heart fluttered for a moment and mystified garnet eyes met glowing moss hues, making a strange emotion to cross his face that even he could not identify. A mix of happiness, love, confusion, joy, anger, and satisfaction mixed into an unrecognizable jumble; like a load of laundry that made love in the washing machine.
Without thinking, or even wondering if it was right, Soul stood up. Staring at her, he leaned closer to her, a hand reaching out to grab her wrist, pulling her forward without warning, the other forward, catching her cheek against his palm. Leaning forward, his lips met hers softly, but had a driving force behind it. Leaning forward, he tilted his head to the side just enough so their noses didn't crack together. Her soft lips didn't respond; but he didn't care, ignoring the melodic soul that under any other circumstances would have alerted him to her fear and made him react effortlessly.
Softly, he broke the kiss, opening his eyes to look at her face. A small smile met his lips as he stared at her; fondly. And still, he said nothing, but sure what he should say or do, or if it was even real.
For one reason or another, Patti wasn't sure if she liked what was going on. She could see how content Liz suddenly felt as soon as Kid touched her. Her older sister had melted against him instantly. But he didn't seem to notice. He felt her wavelength, but he just... Maybe it was just because she was on the outside looking it? But Liz wasn't like normal woman... She would never want to seriously be with someone; and Patti felt that she was the only person that saw that. Liz loved her sister too much for that. She would give up everything to be with Patti; whether she realized it or not. Even now, she was scared of dong something to hurt Kid. If that happened, Liz was scared that they'd be homeless again: but Patti knew Kid loved her too much. He'd never do that to them. Liz could kill someone and Kid would kill any army that tried to take her from him; and not just because he needed her to fight. This went beyond symmetry, discouraging her.
Liz smiled, hearing his voice ramble on, it just made her feel at ease. "I'm already looking forward to dessert." She added with a small laugh. Opening her eyes, she looked up at him and smiled. He looked happy, and she noted that he was a head taller. Sure, she noticed his height before, but never in this position. God, he was just... perfect. And she hated herself for thinking that. Maybe Black Star was right. Maybe she would do anything he asked her to; if for no other reason than because he was so close to her.
Tsubai glanced at Patti. Before, she agreed that they'd be cute together, but never thought there was anything significant between them, aside that they cared. But now, that she saw Liz melt into Kid's embrace, unable to separate her body from his... Patti was right. The two of them looked amazing together, and they just... Fit. She couldn't believe that Black Star almost ruined it.

Maka watched him get up without a word. She wondered if he was angry with her or if he just didn’t want to say anything. Either way, she didn’t care because she wasn’t going to take back anything she’d said. Green eyes widened when he wrapped his fingers around her wrist, pulling her forward. “S-Sou-“she rushed, but was cut short when his lips collided with hers. In that moment, Maka became aware of many things. One, Soul was kissing her; two, his lips weren’t as rough as she had expected them to be; three, she wasn’t breathing; and four, she was afraid. Her body was frozen and the only thing she was able to do was stand there while he kissed her, feeling awkward and scared and she didn’t even know what because Soul had just kissed her. This wasn’t supposed to happen. No, this couldn’t happen! He couldn’t kiss her; he couldn’t possibly like her this way! Her heart sped up, pounding against her chest in a way that made her feel as though it would burst through her sternum and fall to the ground before her.
His lips ghosted hers for a few more seconds before he finally pulled away. She couldn’t handle the way he was looking at her, like…like he loved her! Her eyes dropped to the ground to avoid looking at him, to avoid the garnet eyes she knew were still on her. It was hard to breathe, there was something constricting her throat. This wasn’t happening; this wasn’t happening…The blonde moved back, her legs feeling wobbly and broken as she tried to keep her balance. She stepped wrong, stumbled backward into the railing of the balcony, sucking in a breath when it dug into her back. “W-Why?” she asked, her fingers shaking as she gripped the railing, not bothering to straighten herself up. “W-Why’d you do that?”
Kid smiled and gave a nod. “Dessert will be amazing,” he replied sweetly, squeezing her a little tighter to his side. He was a bit surprised. Of course, he’d hugged her before – he’d hugged them both countless times – but never in this manner. The way she leaned on him felt more intimate, more personal. She’d never done this before, at least not with him. It made a warm wave of happiness wash over him, knowing that he meant enough to her that she was willing to be this close to him. It felt nice too. She was warm and soft and smelled amazing. And even though she was still in sleepwear and her hair wasn’t made up or whatever, she still looked beautiful, making him lose his breath whenever he caught sight of her. Could someone like her actually exist for him? Could she really be made for him? She seemed too divine, too far off, for someone like himself – a boy who was seemingly perfect on the outside, but was, in truth, not at all alright on the inside.
Something tickled his nose and he became aware of just how empty his stomach felt at that moment. “How about some breakfast?” he asked, looking down at Liz. The table nearby was set and Tsubaki had finished whatever she had started making while they had their rendezvous. His eyes scanned over the table, examining it for any imperfections. The center piece was a bit off, some of the plates weren’t positioned directly in the center of the place mats, and a few chairs weren’t exactly the same distance from each other. He took Liz by the hand, pulling her gently to the table, where he slid out a chair for her to sit down on and then arranged things to make sure they were symmetrical. He gave her a nervous smile before he sat down beside her. The others had also gathered around the table and food was beginning to be passed around as the people at the table picked and chose what they liked.

After he kissed her, Soul's consciousness returned and his eyes grew wide, taking a step back. Holy... shit. What the hell had he just done?! Staring at his partner, he couldn't comprehend the lethality of his actions, or how he could possibly make up for them. "M-Maka." He watched her stumble and instinctively grabbed onto her, pressing his body against hers, so he was supporting her and not the railing. Which just made things much more awkward. Putting her into a chair on the balcony, he stared, not knowing what to say.
"I... I'm so sorry... I hadn't realized... My intention wasn't... It just..." Looking down, he let out a heavy sigh. "I didn't mean to scare you. It just... That was the best thing anyone had ever said to me. I hadn't meant to kiss you... You're... my partner, that just makes things weird between us.." He rambled; seeming scared. "That wasn't a come on, Maka, I swear... It just happened!" There was no way out of this... What the hell? Why had he KISSED her?!
Liz wasn't sure what she was feeling; but a strange happiness moved into her stomach when she saw Kid smile, and she knew that he was happy. It was strange. She never had this feeling before, except with Patti. Normally when her sister was happy, Liz got this same blissful feeling. Maybe it was because they were so close? It seemed like a stupid reason, but it was possible that she could pick up on his soul wave length while they were in contact... It wasn't unheard of either. Tsubaki talked about how she could feel when Black Star did certain things, and Maka had mentioned Soul's ability to sense her a few times. So maybe it was plausible that it was just because they were partners and she could sense him when they were close.
For whatever reason, it made her happy. Kid was happy with her, and since they both seemed to need that mutual comfort it worked out. At least until his arm slowly released her and he made his way toward the table. But, it helped her that he took her hand and lead her to the table, pulling out her chair, which made her smile. Damn... Black Star was right... Everything she ever wanted was real in Kid. And he actually cared about her. And she wasn't sure if that should depress her, or make her jump him in that instance. Of course, she picked the previous, sitting down, looking at the table as Kid fixed it. Sadly, it made her smile, shaking her head because she'd noticed what was wrong with it too. But the idea of breakfast sounded fantastic, and as soon as food was put in front of her, she smiled, realizing that she was hungry.
"Wow, Tsubaki this looks fantastic." She smiled and then took a bite and instantly wanted to learn to cook with Tsubaki. They'd had her cooking before, but wow. This was fantastic. Rather than making Black STar a sandwich, she sat down with the others and started to eat. There was enough for him if he wanted to come eat with them. She wasn't too happy with what he'd said either. She assumed the sandwich would have stopped him, but of course... she was wrong.

Maka sat down awkwardly in the chair, eyes flickering to her hands, which fidgeted in her lap. Her lips tingled and she rolled them back, rubbing them together to try and clear them of the feeling. She tasted orange juice, just barely, and maybe cinnamon but she was too disorientated to tell exactly. Despite that she wasn’t looking at him, she could feel him staring at her. “I-It’s okay,” she replied, listening to him ramble and only hearing a portion of it because of how fast he was talking. “I uh…didn’t mean to lean in so close…I’m sorry if I made it look like I was asking you…to um…kiss me.” After all, she had been the one that had clasped her hands on either side of his face and leaned in, but that was because she’d wanted him to look at her, not because she’d wanted a…kiss!
At least she knew that it was an accident. At least, he didn’t want to change their relationship. He didn’t want anything more; he wasn’t going to ask her to be his…girlfriend or confess that he liked her. They were just going to stay friends – weapon and meister – and hopefully, forget about this situation. However, she wasn’t sure what else to say, so she just sat there, head bowed as she messed around with her hands, suddenly very intent on peeling off the chipping nail polish that Liz had painted onto her fingernails a few days ago. What else was she supposed to do? What were they supposed to do now? She supposed they could maybe pack up and head back to the hotel; they’d been gone long enough anyway. But even so, she couldn’t make herself speak up or even stand up. She felt like if she did lift herself up, she would lose control of her legs and stagger into things. Her knees felt weak, so maybe it was just a good idea to stay sitting.
Kid was rather happy looking at the plate of food he’d arranged symmetrically for himself. His stomach growled and he realized just how hungry he was. It all looked amazing too, and he was usually picky with his food. However, it seemed that Tsubaki had taken his problems into mind and made sure that everything looked presentable. Then again, Tsubaki had always been the most skilled chef out of the group, so this wasn’t surprising. He’d learned, in the past few years, how to expand his ability to eat foods that weren’t made by him. First, it was with Liz. Then his other friends like Tsubaki and Maka or Soul if he’d cooked that night. He still found it shocking that he was able to go have dinner at someone else’s house. Either way, it was a thought he didn’t care for much right now as he was starving and couldn’t wait to eat. Picking up a fork, he began to carefully dig into his plate.
“This is delicious. Marvelous job, Tsubaki,” he complimented, smiling at the chain scythe who sat opposite of him at the table. Black Star had sulked over and taken his spot beside her, promptly beginning to stuff his face with homemade foods while mumbling and complaining under his breath like a baby to his partner. Kid realized that it was good that he was paired up with Tsubaki, because no one else could handle him. It was almost comical, since they were completely opposites, Black Star being loud and obnoxious while Tsubaki was reserved and shy. The two seemed to work though, so Kid didn’t question it. When souls could sync together, it didn’t matter how different the two people were.

Soul glanced up at Maka and sighed. "I'm sorry..." He repeated, looking down at his feet a minute later. "I didn't think you were gonna kiss me... You just comforted me and I had never felt better about myself. I've been compared to Wes since I was a kid... Everything about him; his smile, talent; appearance, shit they used to say that our teeth were the only reason we looked physically different." Pulling his phone out of his pocket, he opened his internet application and Googled 'Wes Evans'. Dozens of images came up and Soul picked one of his brother smiling and showed it to Maka. "You have this uncanny ability to help me Maka... and the sound of your soul passified me. I won't do it again."
He was stupid; and selfish. He'd screwed everything up and made things between them awkward and he hated it... Especially because it just made his desire for her worse. She'd rejected him, making it clear that she didn't want to be with him, but at the same time he still wanted her... This was stupid. Leaning over, he took Maka's hands, stopping her from chipping off her nail polish. "Don't. This is my fault, so take it out on me. We can forget about it... It was an accident. It was just my way for thanking you, for comforting me because I didn't know what else to do. I felt... out if it. I know that you could sense it."
Liz was happy that Kid had nothing to complain about and was content with his meal. He even complimented her. A small smile tainted her lips. And she had to agree, it tasted amazing. She continued eating, watching her sister wolf down food as fast as she could. Sighing, Liz leaned toward her sister and pulled her head away from the table; forcing her to straighten out. "Patti, relax. It's not going anywhere."
Patti laughed, then swallowed what was in her mouth. "That's not what I'm thinking, Big sis, It's just too good to waste! I don't want to stop tasting it."
"Then eat slower..." Liz urged, poking her with the back of her fork. "Savor it."
"Eh..." Patti mumbled, laughing and resumed eating, but wasn't eating as fast as she was before. Despite her disagreements with her sister, she did heed her. "So where are we going shopping? Tsubaki and I found a mall not far from here when we were on our way to the zoo 'cause Black Star got us lost." She chimed, watching the blue haired meister whine to his weapon. Staring at him, she stared, shocked. "Wow! Black Star that's gonna be an amazin' shiner!" She said, seeing the bruise starting to form on his face where Kid had punched him. Turning to look at her meister, she laughed. "Good job Kid!" She praised, serious. "Protecting my sister's honor!" She said, slamming him on the back, hitting him in the center and returned to eating.
Liz smiled at her sister, glad that things were returning to normal with the group of them.

Maka glanced up when he held his phone out for her to look at. For a moment, she thought he’d pulled a picture of himself, which confused her. But then she realized that the man in the photo was older, facial structure just a tad bit different. His eyes were a little darker, hair a little more silver. Most of all though, his teeth were flat and for some strange reason, Maka found them rather unfitting on such traits. White hair and red eyes always came with sharp teeth; it was odd to see those qualities without the other. She stared at the photo, not sure what to say. She felt that if she commented on how similar they appeared, it would only upset him. So she didn’t. But even though she hadn’t voiced her opinion, she did find them strikingly similar in appearance. However, despite the similar looks, there was something off. Maybe it was the way the man in the photo carried himself, all proper and fancy, while Soul didn’t bother for such things. According to him, it was uncomfortable, so he sat lazily, walked with his hands in his pockets, spoke fluent sarcasm, and grunted when he was too indolent to use words.
“It was an accident, it’s alright,” she continued, looking away from the lit up screen in front of her. He soon pocketed his phone and enveloped her hands in his, sending a shiver through her body. She blamed it on the cool morning weather. Standing up rather abruptly, Maka rubbed ha hand down one of her arms, trying to rid the skin of goosebumps. “M-Maybe it’s time we start getting ready to leave. I didn’t call anyone last night to let them know we’re here, I’m afraid they’ll wonder where we are.”
Kid glanced up from the corner of his eyes to watch Patti continue scarfing down food. He let out a sigh and averted his eyes again. It wasn’t exactly anything knew and he’d become quite accustomed to seeing it. Well, actually, not exactly seeing since he usually kept his eyes away from her. Something about sloppy eating was distasteful to him, but he was the king of perfect so that was probably why. However, Patti was much easier to look at while she ate than someone like, say, Black Star who was currently trying to lodge four sausage patties into his mouth while yelling his own name after each patty, claiming that it was a game that he’d invented in which the person with the most food in their mouth while still able to say ‘Black Star’ was the winner. Currently, Black Star was the only game’s supporter, as everyone else was looking away in disgust while Tsubaki apologized.
With a sigh, he looked back at Liz. “Are you all planning on waiting for Soul and Maka to come back before you depart for your trip?” he asked. He himself decided it was best if he and Black Star waited for Soul to come back before they left to play basketball. One, because he knew the white haired weapon would like to join them; and two, because he figured it was easier to search for one more person to play with them instead of having to locate two others to make the match even.

Soul could see the look on her face, the assumption that it was him. But, something strange happened; her face warped suddenly, as if not liking what she saw. It worried him, yet the sound of her soul wavelength comforted him. She didn't... like the way Wes looked? How.. how could that be? IT was strange, to see her search for him in a photograph of another; noting the similarities, but ignoring them. That was one of the most powerful things he had in his life, to have someone like Maka that just... was. A soft sigh escaped him, and he nodded, slowly.
"Do you want to leave now? I'm not too worried..." He felt his phone vibrate, just now getting the text message that Kid sent twenty minutes ago. Opening the text, his eyes widened. "N-No... no way... We were..." He mumbled, looking away, blushing. "We... we were on tv." He mumbled, slightly irritated, showing her what Kid texted him. "The concert..." Duh... of course it had been televised, but he hadn't seen any camera; not that he had actually been looking. "Do... you think we should call them?"
Liz was rather mortified by this little game Black Star was playing, but she felt worse for Tsubaki. Yeah, Liz had to look at him, but Tsubaki had to live with him, and fight with him, and... yeah... She just felt bad. Glancing at Kid, she shrugged. "Yeah, I want to wait until Maka comes back, I don't want to exclude her from this, especially if they show up not long after we leave. We can wait until around lunch times and go then. That way you guys don't have to hustle to guys into playing with you." She said, knowing that it was harder to get two people instead of just one. Then again, it sorta depended on the circumstances. Here it might be easier to find two, or they might even get to play a full game with a group of guys.
"I'm not worried though. I'm sure that Maka and Soul will be back around that time anyway. I can't imagine Maka wanting to stay the entire trip there, especially since she hasn't called us."

Maka suddenly perked up, hearing what he’d said. Her face broke out in worry. “Oh no…Oh, that’s not good,” she said, rushing to open the door that led back into the hotel. They had to leave pronto. “Papa’s probably already seen it. He’s going to know where we are. I don’t really think I can handle him right now, he’s all hungover and ugh..!” she clenched her fingers together as she stomped back into their room from the previous night. She grabbed her phone and the shirt she’d worn over her tank top. They didn’t have much stuff with them thankfully. Staring down at her pale green phone for a moment, she sighed and gave a nod, coming down from her sudden mood shift. “Yeah, that’s a good idea…We should call them. I’ll do it, you grab your things,” she said, remembering that his pants and shirt were still in the bathroom.
Maka hit the speed dial for Liz’s phone and pressed the device against her ear, listening to the dial tone for a moment before it began to ring. When someone finally picked up, she straightened up a bit and released whatever pent up anger was still in her body. “Hey, Liz. Uh, I just wanted to call and let you guys know that Soul and I stayed out last night, but we’re on our way home now. Sorry about just disappearing, I didn’t know about until last minute and didn’t have a chance to let anyone know.”
Kid continued to ignore Black Star, much like everyone else did. He kept his eyes on Liz, partially because he didn’t want to lose whatever food he’d just managed to eat, but mostly because, well, he was talking to her. “Alright, that’s a good idea. Until then, however, I suppose I can run through a cleanup of the suite…” he mused, looking around the dining area as if trying to spot anything dirty. Hmm, maybe a dusting was in order. Perhaps he could clean the female suite as well. He was pretty sure they wouldn’t like that but it wasn’t like he really cared. His father was paying for them so it was only fair that he got to clean them! He realized just how odd that sounded, especially since most people wanted others to clean the hotels they were staying in for them, but he just didn’t like the idea of anyone messing with his area, even if they were trying to clean it.
Hearing a phone ring, he glanced over at Liz and blinked. “Maybe that’s them now,” he said, almost positive that it was. He shushed Black Star so that Liz could hear her call and went back to cutting a portion of his waffles off.

Soul couldn't help but smirk. Spirit seeing the concert after being the reason he preformed made him strangely happy. So, needless to say, the mental image of his partner's father's reaction to his performance was strangely satisfying. Okay... it was really satisfying.. But in either case, he was already starting to forget what happened with Maka. A broad grin on his lips, shining white teeth gleaming in the light, he glanced at her. "Hey Maka? Don't worry about your Creepy dad. I'm sure he was too hung over to watch T.V. or anything on the computer. He's probably hugging a toilet wherever he is. So, we should have time to get to the hotel before he starts hunting us down." Then, he laughed at the image of Spirit running after them, crying and complaining about Soul's attention to his daughter.
Walking back to their room, he pulled off the pants he was wearing and started to get dressed. As he did, he could hear Maka talking on the phone. Then he made sure that the room was as clean as it was before they arrived. He made sure he picked everything up, put the towels (and the pants he wore) in one of the other bathrooms to make sure that someone would notice it. Reviewing the room, he was content, and dressed. He made sure that he had his keys, wallet, and his phone in the pocket of his pants. Good.
- - - -
Liz sighed and leaned over took Kid's hand, holding it tightly. "You're not cleaning the suite Kid. I've kept this one clean, and I know there's no way you're letting the other one get dirty." If she let go, she had a feeling that he'd get irritated or compulsive and believe that the hotel needed to be clean. Naturally, Liz was fairly clean person, and living with Kid exaggerated it just enough that she would pick things up more often. Or at least she tried to. The mess in her room wasn't what she normally did, considering Kid's mannerisms, but she couldn't find the outfit she wanted; and because she changed her outfit, she had to try on half a dozen pairs of shoes to get it right. Then they had to get to school, so she hadn't bothered to pick it up. Of course, they'd had a mission not long after, so she postponed it again, and eventually she just didn't feel like it in that moment (her nails weren't painting; it was bothering her).
Liz pulled her phone out of the pocket of the shorts she was wearing. Oh! "Maka." She stated, pressing the accept button on her phone and raising it to her ear. The explanation made her laugh. "Yeah, you two were on the news. Patti woke us all up to watch it this morning. Did you enjoy the concert? I can't believe you got to get up on stage! You're totally lucky. And don't worry about it Maka. We wondered where you were, but you were with Soul--- Hey! Black Star, fuck off!" He yelled. "It's not Soul; it's Maka. Call him if you wanna hear about him getting lucky." She kicked the blue haired meister. Sighing, she rolled her eyes, and returned to Maka. "Sorry... Anyway, you were with Soul, so we weren't all that worried. All of us were out most of the day, so we only had dinner together, and then me and Kid went out for a ride."

Maka sighed, leaning the phone against her shoulder as she unfolded her shirt and attempted to pull it on without tangling herself and the phone in it. “If we’re lucky, he won’t remember anything that happened yesterday,” she replied to Soul before she heard Liz speak up. The blonde smiled upon hearing the familiar voice of her friend. “Yeah, we just heard about it. I can’t believe they broadcasted it. I mean, it was a big festival but…” She remembered that they’d killed a kishin that night as well, but somehow that hadn’t been as big of a story as Soul on stage. Well, that was America for you. Hearing Black Star shout something over the phone, Maka’s face reddened and she glanced over at Soul quickly. “T-Tell Black Star I’m going to kick his ass when I get back!” she replied in a stutter, hoping that she still sounded threatening enough though she was embarrassed. Sighing lightly, she brought her other hand up to her face, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she listened to Liz tell him to settle down. Once she was back on the phone, Maka returned her attention back to phone.
“Ah, sounds like everyone was busy, eh?” she asked, eyes watching Soul as he collected and shoved his phone, keys, and anything else of his into the pockets of his jeans. “I’m assuming Patti got her zoo day since you and Kid got some time alone,” Maka replied with a laugh. Crouching down, she dropped to her knees, holding the phone to her ear with one hand while she searched underneath the bed for her shoes with the other. She let out a small grunt upon realizing that, somehow, they’d been shoved far under the bed. Angling herself, she managed to push half of her body underneath the bed and grab her shoes. She dragged herself and the gladiators out, letting out a long sigh as she straightened herself up, but remained sitting on the floor. “What’d you guys ride on?” she asked, partially because they way she’d said it made it seem like they’d taken a bus or a train or something, and partially because Kid’s skateboard just hadn’t crossed her mind.
Kid frowned. “But there’s nothing else to do!” he replied, not at all caring if Maka heard him on the other line or that he was interrupting Liz’s call. “I don’t plan to sit around doing nothing like some lazy moron until we begin our game. Plus, I don’t want to play anymore video games with Black Star and I know that’s what he’s going to suggest. That or something ridiculous like bungee jumping off of the roof.” The stripe-haired kid let out a sigh as he picked through his food, arranging it around symmetrically. He picked up some hash browns and ate them, though keeping his eyes on Liz while she spoke on the phone. He wasn’t exactly sure of what girls talked about, but he was pretty sure this was the time they brought up random feminine things like decorating desserts or what destinations they would hit once they got into the store. That was what girls talked about right? Hell if he knew; he was just in charge of eyebrow plucking and fingernail painting.
He watched Black Star as he fought to grab the phone, rolling his eyes in exasperation. Apparently he hadn’t gotten the memo when Liz said the call had been from Maka who probably wasn’t sharing the phone with Soul as he had his own. Reaching over, he plucked the neatest piece of French toast that he could find, tearing it in perfectly in half before he started to eat it.
“Nyeh, quit pushing me!” Black Star whined before he leaned over the girl’s shoulder again. “Hey Maka~! Was it as good for you as it was for him?”

Liz shrugged. "The media loves ordinary people doing extraordinary things. And Soul isn't bad looking, so it gave them something worthwhile to look at. Besides, bands almost never let someone they don't know up on stage. If they had a connection with Soul, it wouldn't have made the news. But not only did he play, but he sang. And, speaking of which, damn! It was so good and he was making lovers eyes at you. It was cute, the two of you looked amazing on stage together. I can see him playing piano in a concert, serenading you on top of it." she teased.
"Maka's gonna Maka-Chop your ass out your mouth." Liz translated Maka's sweet girl speak into Brooklyn chick.
The assassin didn't seem phased and Liz rolled her equally blue (but much more appealing) eyes. "Yeah. Patti went to the zoo and didn't even wake me up. She went with Tsubaki and Black Star, and they stole something and brought it back. Black Star kicked it out the window apparently though, so we had quite a wild evening. Not as wild as yours though. Did you like the concert? I told you that you should go to one with Soul. Wasn't I right?"
She paused, letting Maka talk, and blinked. "We went for a ride on Beelzebub." She answered, realizing later that it was an out of the ordinary thing. "Kid taught me how to skateboard yesterday. But there's nothing like seeing an aerial view of the city from a skateboard... As weird as that sounds."
Glancing at Kid, she rolled her eyes. "Kid is having a freak out. When do you think you'll be back? He doesn't want to play basketball with just Black Star, and we're having a girl's day to go shopping." She said simply. "I want you to come with us, and he wants Soul to play with them."
Soul watched Maka get ready and talk on the phone. Somehow, he liked that he was close with Liz. Liz knew a lot about Jazz, and could help him get Maka more into it. ACtually, Liz was really the only one in Shibusen that liked Jazz. Patti didn't like music without words, but Liz was like those who were moved by it. From what he knew about her, it wasn't that surprising. It gave him someone to talk to about it. He loved Black Star, but he wasn't well educated on music, or much else... for that matter. He hated that Black Star wasn't into music, at least music that wasn't rap. But whatever. He was starting to get Maka into it, so it wasn't as if he had to worry about having no one into his genre of music for much longer.
Or, maybe Liz could just help Maka understand it... He was okay with that too. Watching her put her shoes on, he wondered where his bike was parked. This was going to be weird. They had to retrace their steps and find where they'd left it in town, and that was if it hadn't been towed for like overnight parking or something.
He wondered what Maka was planning to do. A smile met his lips as she bent down. Well... What a reward.
Patti popped up beside Kid and hugged him. "Don't worry Kid! Me and Big sis will be good shopping. I promise I won't buy any animals, alright?" She wanted to distract him. With Liz on the phone, she knew that he'd want attention. That and she wanted to make sure that he was ready for this date. That she was going to call a date.

Maka straightened up suddenly, her head colliding with the nightstand painfully. “He was not!” she replied hastily, dropping a hand over her aching head. Remembering what had occurred not too long ago, she made a whiny sound and covered her face with her free hand, leaning back against the bed from her position on the floor. Thank god Soul was too busy doing other stuff to notice her currently. Peaking between her fingers, she stared lazily at her feet and the shoes she had halfway finished strapping onto them. She was suddenly not in such a hurry to head back to the hotel because it meant that Liz would probably ask about the things that had happened and then she’d accidentally blurt out that he’d kissed her and it would be the end of the world as she knew it. Glancing up through her fingers, she watched Soul make his way around the room. “Yeah, I liked it. It was different than what I’d thought it would be. It was kind of a last minute thing though, since there was no one else for him to go with – someone more musically inclined, I mean.”
Luckily, Liz had decided to change the topic, much to Maka’s pleasure. She listened to the girl on the other end talk about her trip with the Shinigami. A smile rose to her face and she leaned forward a bit, feeling a tad more comfortable now. Dropping her free hand to her shoes again, she went back to strapping them up. “Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun,” she replied. “How’s the city look from up there?” Standing up, she moved her feet around a bit, trying to get comfortable in her shoes before she started walking. Heading over to the vanity that was set in their room, she reached into her back pocket for a few hair ties. Then, she pressed the phone between her shoulder and cheek as she freed her other hand, tying a pig tail up on one of her head. She switched position, doing the same to the other side.
“Shopping?” she asked, blinking as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. “That doesn’t sound too bad. We’ll try to get home as soon as we can so that we don’t hold you guys up. Soul’s probably not going to want to pass up the chance for a game of basketball,” she replied with a light laugh, knowing her male partner heard her this time. To be honest, she was actually looking forward to having a day of relaxation at one of the local malls. Granted, she wasn’t as big of a shopper as Liz, she did like to indulge and browse around like any normal girl did.
Kid turned his head to look at Patti, chewing what was in his mouth before he rolled his eyes and returned them to his plate. “Yeah, right. That’s exactly what you told me before you went to the zoo and brought home something, then had an argument with me about pets, which apparently we’re getting now,” he said, nonchalantly. For now, he was more hungry than open to Patti’s promises, which were usually broken whenever she found something worth breaking the rules he’d carefully grafted. With a sigh, he brought his fork back up to his mouth, taking in another piece of food. “Just please, for the sake of that is deathly, don’t do anything stupid. I beg of you, Patti…Give me at least one break.” It sounded like he was pleading, and maybe he actually was. Too bad he currently didn’t care. Glancing over at Liz, he listened to her speak into the phone. Although he couldn’t hear what Maka was saying on the opposite side, he did have a general idea of what the conversation was about. Liz brought up the ride they’d taken the night before, seeming happy about it. A smirk arose on his face and he looked back down at his plate, feeling rather confident.
He was generally happy about spending some time with the guys today. One of the main reasons why he’d even brought it up was so because he felt that he needed a fellow male companion to speak with – someone other than Black Star but that idiot was going to be there no matter what anyway. Soul, on the other hand, was a decent human being and someone that Kid could have a serious conversation with without him bursting out in laughs - or maybe not – or declaring that he was a god. Soul wasn’t that experienced in the opposite gender either, but he had a general idea on things. Kid did too…but he just…this was confusing to him. He just didn’t want to screw things up.
He couldn’t believe he was going to ask his friend for relationship advice. Sigh, he really had hit rock bottom.

Liz laughed, hearing Maka bang her head. She knew that she wasn't hurt, she'd have heard it if she was. But it amused her that Maka was so startled by the compliment. Whatever, she wouldn't talk about this publicly. They could talk about it when she got back; when it was just the girls. A smile appeared on her face when Maka mentioned their ride.
Truthfully, she felt good talking about what her and Kid had done the night before. It was one of the coolest things she and Kid had ever done together. And, strangely enough she wasn't sure if Patti being with them would have made it more or less interesting? Would she have been able to be with Kid as she was last night? It was strange... for her to be around him alone, but it was pleasant at the same time. Did that make her selfish? She wanted to be without her sister with someone, not to mention someone her sister's age...
Sighing, she couldn't help but question her own choices. "Sweet! Hurry back then. We'll be waiting for you. I know Soul can't drive with you on the phone, and I don't want to keep you later than I have to. You can tell us all about the concert and stuff when you get back. And make sure you hurry back, I don't want to be walking around carrying shopping bags in the dark." She looked over at her sister and Kid and smiled. He looked happy with her, in a weird way.
"I'll talk to you soon Maka. Bye." She said, waiting for the blonde's response before ending the call and putting her phone down on the table. "It'll take a few hours for them to be back. It'll give us some time to get ready. I'd assume Maka's gonna wanna shower when she comes back though." She shrugged her shoulders and got up to get a drink from the fridge.
Patti could feel the pride in Kid's body as he watched her sister. Somehow, that made her happy, because he felt it too. He loved Liz as much as she did, and he wanted to protect her. He wanted to love her. But he was scared that she wouldn't feel the same. And Liz didn't see Kid the way she saw everyone else. Maybe she thought she deserved less than what Kid was to them, or she'd just diluted herself into thinking he was too young and was in a position so high above them that she could never reach him. Patti knew that Liz was afraid of the consequences of her actions, but not what they would do to her. Rather, she was scared about what would happen to Patti.
And Patti hated it. Liz had never not worried about herself, just about Patti. Watching golden eyes trail her body, she wasn't sure why Kid was suddenly depressed watching Liz. "She likes flowers, you know that right?" She pointed out, ignoring what he asked of her. For the sake of her sister, she was willing to do what Kid asked, even without being asked. "Lilies are her favorite flower. The white ones and the pink ones." She stated. "The pink one that points up to the sky that smells really good? There was a flower shop in Brooklyn that we used to walk by when going to school. The first thing Big Sis ever stole for herself was a lily on the way home. Our mom was glad Big Sis got her something and took it from her. The same thing happened every day until mom had a bouquet and Big Sis never said they weren't for her or took them back. I never understood why, but it didn't seem to bother her."

Maka smiled. “We will!” she replied happily, standing back up when she finished her hair. “Alright then, talk to you soon, bye!” Hitting the end button on her phone, she locked the screen and shut it back into her pocket. Then she turned back to Soul, hands on her hips, and let out a sigh before she smiled lightly. “Ready to go?” she asked. Once everything was packed up and they ventured out into the living area, he and Maka bid their farewell to the band, who was more than happy to have had them. One of them asked for a few pictures with Soul. Once they were finished with that, they left the hotel. Maka wandered a few feet down the street but then stopped.
“Do you remember where you parked your bike?” she asked, remembering that they hadn’t arrived at the hotel on it the night before. That meant that it was probably somewhere back near the entrance of the town where they had left it when they arrived. Looking around, she couldn’t tell where they were. Having been driven there while she was half asleep, she hadn’t exactly followed where they were going. Plus, it had been dark and the city had no streetlights, which made things very difficult to see. With a sigh of determination, she started down the street again. They wouldn’t find it if they didn’t start looking, so she was going to take the liberty of starting. And if they got lost, well, then they’d just ask someone.
Kid glanced up to look at Patti, chewing his food rather slowly. He blinked, taking in the information she told him. She liked flowers…Alright, that was good. He had to store that in his memory. Maybe he could have a garden built into the manor. That or he could have more flowers and plants added into the landscape. He watched Patti intently, listening to her. Narrowing his eyes in concentration, he looked down at his food for a moment, taking another bite. He chewed, swallowed, and then started to speak again. “Are you talking about…orchids?” he asked, noting that they were pink flowers that pointed to the sky. She hadn’t exactly given him a name of which flower she preferred, so he would just have to infer.
Orchids seemed like her type of flower though. They were tall and slender, curving slightly in whichever direction they pleased, much like Liz, who traveled and moved in her own course. They came in different shades of pink or lilac and sometimes even white. However, he liked pink because it matched her soul’s color. “Your sister is very selfless,” he said with a small smile. “She probably liked to see your mother happy, which was why she didn’t ask for them back. It’s like that with you, Patti. If you asked for the moon, your sister would find some way to pull it from the sky…though I don’t know why you would ask for the moon. It’s a very cynical thing that I assume wouldn’t be to pleasant to be around.”
