Maka sighed, Great. In her head, she counted down from five in order to calm herself down before she blew up in the girls face. Even Black Star seemed a little less self absorbed than this girl. Either way, they had to get this finished. Ignoring Regina's remark, she looked at her other teammates before her glance shifted to the girl. "It's not going to work if you force yourself on anyone. Let's just take a breather and try again. You're a new addition so it's only normal that we connect and work you in as well."
Kid wanted to double facepalm himself. "Patty, Liz, would it be suicide if I shot myself?" he asked, quietly so no one else would hear him and think he was crazy. He looked down at his pistols and shook his head. "Unfortunately, I think that would just make her more angry." He let out a sigh and instead of doing anything, allowed Maka to do the talking. She was a girl and girls could make other girls be quiet. Or so he hoped.
Black Star groaned. "LOSER? Me! You're the loser here! Your soul wavelength is so annoying that we can't even connect to it!" he shouted, waving Tsubaki in the air. "Just shut up and let us do the connecting!"
Gretchen released a sigh. "I hate my life," she said, sadly.

Regina rolled her eyes at the three other meisters. "Fine. Do what you want. resonate with the others and I will try to match with you." He stated boredly, crossing her arms, mindful of her weapons to avoid cutting herself. "But if I we resonate today then Soul has to go out on a date with Gretchen and Kidd should escort me so I don't feel lonely without her."
Patti giggled softly at Kidd. "Well, if you shot yourself then Liz and I would have to go back to Brooklyn! We need you Kidd, please stay alive for us? Liz can make you more symmetrical pancakes!" She exclaimed.
"Technically, if we shot you, I think it would be murder." Liz explained, not wanting to admit that she didn't want anything to happen to Kidd. "If there was ever someone who was garbage, it would totally be her." She added, glaring at the other female. So she wouldn't get lonely. "Sounds like someone's a little desperate if you ask me." She stated, louder than she normally would have.
Soul groaned, sure he just figured out how to face palm in weapon form.

Gretchen made a noise. “Hey, I’m not desperate! Don’t think so lowly of me!”
Maka smiled. “Alright then, let’s try it again,” she said, a little more calmly than before. The blue aura engulfed them, her pigtails fluttering with the wind. They slowly started to resonate again. However, as soon as she heard the second part of Regina’s statement, Maka’s soul wavelength spasmed and the connection was shattered yet again. She found herself gripping the handle of her Death Scythe a little harder than she usually did, a scowl on her face. Ugh, wonderful. Now she’d messed it up. “Sorry,” she apologized, focusing herself on the situation at hand. Once again, they began the resonance process.
Black Star fumbled around, growling. “THIS IS SO ANNOYING! Can we just resonate and get the prize?!”
Kid sighed and shook his head. He gave a smirk toward his pistols. “Alright, alright, I won’t kill myself. Let’s just get this job done. I don’t even care for the prize anymore, I just want to get this over with,” he said, focusing his wavelength, making sure it was steady and ready to connect to the others. They started again. First him and Maka, then Black Star, and finally, they moved onto Regina.

"Maka..." Soul muttered. "I'm not against you holding me tightly or anything, but please don't squeeze that hard. It doesn't hurt, but it feels sorta weird." he thought, knowing she'd be able to hear his thoughts. if he spoke, everyone in their soul resonance group would be able to hear him, and he didn't want to hurt her feelings or call her out.
Regina, as if to prove herself worth to the others, most notably Kidd, she let out a sigh and lowered her soul wavelength, allowing it to be passive, and therefore to bond with the others. A smile met her lips as the four meisters became one in that instance. A smile came to her face as she looked up at the others. "See? I told you we could do it!" She stated triumphantly, as if showing that she had messed up the previous ones on purpose in order to get something out of it.
"And don't be so rash, Gretchen. You're just too shy to ask Soul out on your own, so I was doing it for you."
Once all of them were resonating, Patti started to cheer, 'jumping' in her weapon form. "Yay! Yay! we did it!" She exclaimed. "I bet we were the first group to do it!"

Maka blushed, releasing her grip on him. "Sorry, I just realized I was doing it," she said. Once the four meisters were connected, she smiled brightly. "Yes!" she called, somewhat surprised. This didn't take as long as she - along with the others - had thought it would. "Now we just have to show Professor Stein and we'll be done." He would probably be able to sense their connected souls with his Soul Perception and thus, would come to see if they were done.
Kid smiled, "Nice!" he said, glad to see that the group had set aside their differences and got the job done. "Looks like it wasn't as hard as we were making it out to be," he said, quietly. Well, it looked like they were going to be the first ones finished, unless some other teamed had managed to do it before them. He doubted it though, even with the arguing, they still managed to finish reasonably fast.
Black Star smirked. "YAHOO! We did it! PROFESSOR STEIN! PROFESSOR STEIN!" he shouted loudly, hoping the professor would hear them. "PRO-" His shout was cut off by a hand that suddenly covered his mouth. "Mfd fmbd!"
"Please, please don't shout. You're going to give me a headache. Remember, we're still resonated, when you yell your wavelength gets even more annoying," Kid said, letting the boy go. He smirked. "You can express you happiness some other way."

Soul appeared in the reflection of his blade. "Don't worry about it Maka, I'm not angry." he thought to her, relaxing in her grip, resting against her shoulder. Sighing, he felt something moving toward them. When connected with Maka, he was able to sense souls as if seeing through her.
Liz sighed. "Does that mean we're done for the day? Persephone's secret is having a sale on eye shadow, and I want to grab some before all of the good ones are taken." Begin connected with Kidd and Maka, she suddenly got this uneasy feeling, as something rather rapidly approached them. "What's that?"
Patti's face appeared in the reflection of the gun. "Kidd? Do you sense that too?"
Lightning ripped apart the ground they were standing on and knocked over a few trees. Stein emerged from them, a crazed smile on his face. In his right hand, he was holding Spirit in his Death Sycthe mode, and in the other, the transformed Marie hammer. "You're the first group to succeed." he complimented, resting Spirit on his shoulder. "However, in order to pass, you have to work together and either defeat us, or bring us to a stand still." that said, He threw Marie in the air and swung Spirit around in an impressive manner before catchign Marie and slamming her into the ground, cracking it apart.

Maka turned around suddenly, surprised by the soul that was approaching them. What the...That was Professor Stein, but why was he so - she stumbled, catching herself before she fell as the ground was torn apart by a wave of lightning. Out of the foliage he finally arrived, carrying both her father and Marie in his hands. Her eyes widened, seeing the crazed look in his eyes.
“Watch it, don’t crush my baby!” Spirit yelled, voice carrying outside of the weapon.
He wants to fight? Kid thought, gold eyes shocked from the abrupt entrance. He looked back at his teammate. “Quick!” he called to them, jumping into the air, flipping backward and landing on his feet. ”We need a plan, if we all attack at once it’ll be a mess. We do it the way we defeated Mosquito, resonate with your partners within team resonance. When it’s your turn, the others will work as back up.”
”We’ll start, then Kid, Black Star, and finally, Regina.” Maka said, moving Soul from her shoulder until they were in an offensive stance. She looked back at Stein before she smiled. “Ready, Soul?” she asked, lifting the scythe. Using her hands, she spun it over her shoulders. “Resonate!” There was a spark as the two souls connected, forming together to become something greater. Maka lifted the scythe further up so that the blade was behind her.
“Witch Hunter!” As the words were uttered, the blade of the Death Scythe grew more than twice it’s size, both ends curving in as the weapon suddenly was overtaken by a glowing aura. Pushing her feet forward, Maka started to run toward their mentor, swinging the scythe until it hit him. However, she knew that it wasn’t going to be that easy.
In the background, Kid decided it was time for them to resonate as well. Once Maka’s attack was over, they needed to head in. “Liz, Patti, time to resonate.” With this, the three merged souls, gaining power from each other. Kid’s body was lifted into the air, his soul growing immensely. Two cannons formed around his hands, his body dropping to the ground. He landed on his feet, the weight of the cannons pushing him down to a kneel.

Stein rolled his eyes at Spirit's desire for him to watch out for Maka. "I won't kill her, Spirit. She has the most promise of any meister I've ever seen, and she's already made a Death Scythe. But that doesn't mean I will go easier on her. Resting Spirit on his shoulder, he started to twist the screw in his head, focusing on what he was doing, not letting the flickering wavelengths of the others distract him. Once he finished, they had formulated a team and Maka was moving toward him with witch hunter. He spun Spirit, managing to slam the two shafts of the Death Scythes together, changing his soul wavelength (as well as Spirits) to match Maka and Souls, therefore making their attack invalid. However, it took a good deal of effort for him to do so. Sliding away frmo Maka, he grinned, picking up Marie and sending Lightning at Kidd and his pistols, but sent the lightning slightly to the left in such a way that it was clearly not symmetrical. Well, that and the fact he was wielding two weapons that had nothing in common.
Liz and Patti both resonated with Kidd and transformed into large cannons, their weight drastically increasing, forcing Kidd to his knees. As their power started to stablize and Liz took a deep breath, waiting for their power to build to a level that they'd be able to take a much larger part than normal and fire it. "Resonance stable, Noise at 0.3 percent." Liz informed.
"Black needle soul wavelength fully charged." Patti continued.
"Preparing to fire, Feedback in four seconds. Three..."
"Two.."
"One."
"Firing now!" Patti exclaimed happily.

Maka pushed the scythe further, hoping to at least do something that would benefit them. Then again, the last time they had used Witch Hunter - granted, at that time they hadn’t exactly mastered it - Stein had managed to shatter it with ease, his glasses being the only things that had taken any damage. Shutting her eyes, she was abruptly thrown back as the once enlarged blade of her scythe was broken into a million pieces, revealing Soul’s normal blade beneath. Skidding across the ground, she sat up, watching as Kid attacked next.
Kid's brightly colored eyes locked onto Stein and he smirked, cockily. "Death Cannon," he stated. Two bright balls of condensed soul wavelength shot out of the two cannons and headed toward Stein. There was a fairly loud explosion to signal that the large attack had hit and an enormous cloud of smoke rose up around the area where the Professor had been positioned. Kid watched intently as the smoke cleared, hoping he had hit him. When he finally spotted the Professor, he turned to Black Star. “Black Star, your turn,” he said, simply.
Black Star smirked. “YES! Come on Tsubaki, SOUL RESONANCE!” he shouted with a laugh. Once the two of them were resonated, he looked toward Stein. “Shadow Star, Tsubaki!” The weapon in his hand was morphed into a large throwing star and the young, ignorant boy made a run for it, screaming as he did so. Clearly, he wasn’t that great of an assassin...

An explosion of smoke caused Stein to tense, and in a last ditch effort to avoid Kidd's attack, he jumped above it, but lost his jacket in the process. The attack was a straight forward attack and Kidd had no control over it's direction after it was fired. Pulling off his ripped lab coat, he tossed the ruined garment aside, letting it slide across the grass, moving with the smoke in the breeze. He was breathing a little more heavily then before, having used more effort to avoid that attack. They were doing it all wrong attacking separately. They needed to strategically attack together as a team in order to stand a chance against him (and, by extension, Asura).
Tsubaki sighed as he resonated souls with Black Star. Afterward, when he yelled, she sighed again, this time more heavily. "Black star, you shouldn't yell when you..." She stated simply.
Stein threw Spirit into the air, not bothering to listen to his excuses about being thrown around in such a way. Then, he slammed Marie into Black Star's stomach and chest, sending a powerful burst of electricity and then fired his soul wavelength through Black Star's head to knock him unconscious, much like he did in their first battle. Grabbing Spirit as he fell back down, he spun him around and chuckled. "Anyone have a problem with that?" he asked, looking at the other meisters. "Didn't think so." Then he started to spin Spirit around before blocking Regina's attack with ease, knocking her onto her back, sliding away from him.
"Don't tell me you're the first team to figure it out and the one to give the most pathetic fight." Stein muttered, spitting out his cigarette and stopping it out in the grass.
Standing, Regina glared. "Alright, we need to resonate again as a group, without Black Star!" She yelled. The loss of one of their members caused their group resonance to shatter. "Let's try again, this time Kidd should lead, instead of Maka! It's obvious he's more powerful!"

Maka watched as Black Star was taken out with such ease, biting her lip. This was the same thing that had happened the last time they fought Stein; he had been too loud and gave Stein the time to charge his attack. Either way, they were down a teammate now, one of their most valuable ones too. Despite how annoying he could be sometimes, Black Star was very strong and his Enchanted Sword mode would have helped them out a lot. She tilted her head back to look at the her other teammates, deciding it was best to go with what Regina had said, even though it did sound something like an insult. “Okay, let’s do it,” she said.
Kid didn’t exactly care who led at this point, he just knew they had to defeat Stein. “Got it,” he muttered, lifting his weapons. “Let’s go.” Slowly, the wind picked up around the trio and their soul wavelengths became clear. Kid let his extend out toward Maka’s, attaching. The two of them then propelled theirs to Regina and allowed for her to enter as well. Once they were resonated, he looked at them. “It’s seems that our chain attack is much too slow. Everyone get ready, we’re going to head in at once. As soon as one person hits, the other will follow immediately. Do not give him a chance process what’s going on,” he said, quietly so that only the trio could hear.
Maka nodded. "Alright. You first, Kid."
Kid smirked. "On it," he stated. This time, he decided to use a close range move. The group moved in on Stein. "Shinigami Martial Art: Stance of Crime," he muttered quietly. His body twisted in an asymmetrical position, one arm up and one down. He swung his leg around, kicking Stein in the stomach, flipping him. He then positioned both pistols at the man's back when it was facing him, shooting. "Maka!" he shouted, giving her a signal to attack.
Once again, the blade of the Scythe grew. She decided to try Witch Hunter again, the blade growing back to it's previous size. She swung it again, making sure she did it quickly like they had discussed. They couldn't allow him to take any time to get ready for their attacks. As she attacked, she glanced back. "Your turn, Regina, make it good!"

Stein smiled. Good, they were getting the point of the lesson. Maybe hearing about the battle afterward, Black Star would be able to work in a team better and faster. So far though, this is what he had expected from Maka and Kidd. However, the attack put forth by Kidd took too much to avoid completely. He was using Marie to knock or redirect hem with Lightning, but he had taken two rather painful shots to the shoulder. Maka's closely coordinated attack would rid all evil from his body, adn knowing this, Stein could only think of one thing to save the subdued madness within him.
"Spirit, Maka is down!" Following this, he let go of his Death Scythe, which foolishly transformed back into his human form. Witch hunter collided with his body, sending the red head to teh ground. "Congratulations Maka, now you're father is no longer a ladies man!" He congratulated, as Regina came up beside him. he kicked her, only to be shocked when her body disappeared and another tripped him and cut some of his hair, leaving a bleeding cut on the side of his face. Blood dripped from his face to his neck and he used Marie to block the following three attacks from Regina before restraining her.
"I'm impressed." he stated, letting them go. A large bruise was forming on his arm from a few of Kidd's shots. The bleeding on his face had stopped. "You passed." he smiled, taking a cigarette out of his abandoned lab coat, and lighting it. "The winners will be announced tomorrow, posted the same way your grades are." He added, looking at Spirit, who was weeping over the fact he used him in another "experiment" but this time had Maka deliver the blow. In either case, he didn't care all that much. Blowing out a stream of smoke, he relaxed. "But it's safe to say that you'll be in the top three. I doubt anyone would be able to inflict any damage on me."

Walking into school the next day, Maka tugged a lazy and still probably half asleep Soul by the arm down the halls of Shibusen. Once they arrived in front of their homeroom, she merged herself into the crowd that was gathered around the board outside the room. “Come on, we have to see if we won, help me push through,” she said. As soon as they managed to get up front, Maka scanned the board and promptly smiled upon noticing that her team was at the very top. They had won, they were the first to resonate and also the team that took Stein down most effectively.
“We did it,” Maka said, smiling.
Kid appeared beside them a few moments later. “Oh, good morning,” he stated simply before glancing up. “My, it appears that we have.” He gave a smile before he disappeared in the crowd again, making his way over to the bench that Black Star was standing upon. He informed them and the blue haired assassin jumped.
“YAHOO! I knew we’d do it! This means we get the prize! COME ON! Let’s claim it!” He shouted happily, jumping off the bench and onto the ground.
“Hold it, we just need to find Regina. She was on on our team after all,” Kid said, hands in his pocket. Maka and Soul appeared out of the crowd not too long afterward.
“I wonder what the prize is,” Maka mused.
Black Star threw up his hands. “Probably something AWESOME!” he said, loudly.
Kid shrugged. “I tried to ask my father, but he wouldn’t let me know. He said it was a surprise to whichever team won and he didn’t want it ruined. We’ll just have to wait and find out then, I suppose.”

Soul yawned widely. Blair had kept him all night. His delicious fish was so delicious that she needed a fifteenth helping. She was too small as a cat, so she turned human to stomach all of the fish. As they walked, Soul grinned. About time he was first at something! Well... besides being a death scythe, right? He put his hands behind his head as they walked toward the classroom. "Even your dad wouldn't tell you, huh?" Well that did make sense, but it was a huge pain in the ass.
Once in the classroom, Regina ran over to them and jumped onto Soul's back, her breasts pressed against the back of his head. "We did it!" She exclaimed, very, very loudly. "We won! We won!" She jumped off of Soul and then hugged Kidd in much the same way. "I can't wait to leave! I'm going to start packing as soon as we leave!"
"Packing?" Liz questioned, crossing her arms. "What's that supposed to mean?
Regina paused. "For your information, Miss 'I know nothing' the prize for winning as a week long, ALL expense paid vacation to California! We're going to California! AND we're excused from classes for our job well done!" She stated, a confident look on her face. "Think of all the hot boys that will be there..." She ran her hand down Soul's chest, touching part of his scar. "Of course, a death scythe will be there." She winked and then walked off toward her seat.
Patti's eyes widened. "C-California..." she repeated, slowly, and then jumped up into the air. Her arms found their way around Kidd's neck. "Kidd! Kidd!' She yelled, loudly. "We HAVE to go to the zoo! The zoo! The zoo! We can see giraffes!" She exclaimed, loudly. "Pleeeease?!"
Liz chuckled softly. "That sounds like a fitting reward for you Patti. I'll bring you."

Maka’s eye twitched when Regina appeared, throwing herself onto Soul. Was it just her, or did she seem a little more clingy than yesterday? Leaving some space between the two of them, she crossed her arms and ignored it. When Regina mentioned packing and California, she was suddenly interested again. “C-California?” she asked, surprised. A week?! She was unsure of how to deal with this situation. Vacation was something they needed, but she also worried about leaving Shibusen during Asura’s return. Then again, California was right beside Nevada, they could return fast enough if something happened, right?
Still, she was turned off by the idea of spending a week in California with Miley Cyrus and the Olson twins.
Kid was still for a moment, gold eyes wide as the girl jumped on him. Then he screamed, loudly. “NO! Release me at this instance!” he shouted, flailing and throwing her off of him. He turned around and pointed at her chest. “Your breasts, they’re asymmetrical! Do not bring them close to me again!” he shouted, backing up to hide between Liz and Patti, shaking. “I don’t want to go on this trip anymore!”
Black Star made a face. “Hey! What about me? Aren’t you gonna jump on me all sexy too?!” He asked, annoyed that she had forgotten about Black Star, THE Black Star. He was supposed to be the first to get boobs in his face, not those two. After all, he was the man who was going to surpass god!
“Yes, please attack him instead!” Kid shouted, pointing at Black Star.
