“Yeah this is awesome Toph!”, Aang shouted as he continued to slide down the canyon at a decent speed. He was wanting to go faster, wondering if he could move as fast with earthbending as he did with air. That would be so cool! Of course Aang picked the worst time to try this little stunt, not yet realizing that Toph was stopping right at the edge of a canyon. “Woah Toph look out”, he said before suddenly slamming right into her.
That hurt! Aang never had the wind knocked out of him like that! Toph only skidded back a few feet while Aang fell backwards but was able to keep his balance as Toph pushed him away from her body. “Yeah, stopping would have been a good thing to mention”, he said with a bit of trouble breathing. He took in a deep breath and shook his head. “Wow, you took that like nothing”

Toph sighed, feeling him fall backwards onto the ground. "Well... you're control is a little off, but I'll take that over you cant bend at all." She said, putting the board down on the ground. Rubbing her shoulder, she sat down. It was boiling out. Just bending was making her all sweaty, she could feel it on the back of her neck. Now, her entire body was starting to get a little tired. It had been almost two weeks since she had been able to bend completely and freely. The capture, and the flying. Ugh...
Closing her eyes, she shifted her weight, laying down on the ground. Putting her hands behind her head, shifting to get more comfortable. "I'm hot." She muttered, looking over at him. "You can airbend now."

Aang slowly pressed himself upwards after falling down, he still felt a bit dizzy though so he moved as if he just had his first bottle of wine. Aang wasn’t feeling too good right there, but he didn’t say anything. Aang took several deep breaths, trying his best to regain his head and focus. That fall and crash had taken him out of it, he had never thought that Toph could be that strong. Aang moved over and saw that Toph was now lying down and she looked hot or something, heat wise that is. The young monk’s eyes widened as she told him that he could airbend. “What? But what about the training? Are we done?”

Toph slid her leg out under his, catching it sharply, making him fall to the ground beside her. "I meant cool me off stupid..." She muttered, closing her eyes tiredly. Shaking her head, she didn't seem too interested in getting up. "I never said YOU were done." She added, opening an eye needlessly to 'look' in his direction. "You're going to keep earth bending whether you like it or not. Shrugging her shoulders, she pushed herself up into a half sitting position, leaning back, resting his weight on her arms.
"I want you to work on moving things without breaking anything." Kicking the ground, the area shook, causing something to fall out of a tree. After a pause, Toph looked upwards, focusing closely and caught a bird's nest. Putting the nest on the ground, she enclosed it a hallow rock. "If you break those eggs, you're killing the babies of these parents that worked really hard to create."

“Doh!”, Aang muttered as he fell flat on the ground after Toph blindsided(lol) him. He definitely hadn’t seen that one coming. He rubbed the back of his head as Toph remarked that he was supposed to cool her off. Oh, that did make much more sense now that he thought about it. He lifted a hand to his mouth and blew a steady stream, practically giving Toph an entire wind to herself as she sat there. He did it for about a minute till he was certain that she had cooled off for the time being. It was clear that they needed to get back to training after all, they weren’t done yet.
Aang watched as Toph got the bird’s nest and put the entire thing inside a hallowed out rock for him. Okay, this had just gotten strange. Was she really asking him to do what he thought she was asking? He looked at the rock and the life that was stored in it. “So what do you want me to do than?”, he asked curiously.

Toph hit the ground with her hand and the rock disappeared inside the ground. Kicking with her heel, the hollow rock reappeared. Catching it, she grinned. Sitting up, she kicked the ground, creating something like an opsticle course. "Alright twinkle toes..." She said, putting the rock on the ground, it sucked half of it inside. "I want you to move the rock and make sure not to make the rock any bigger, or crushing inside. If you do, the eggs with shatter, killing what's inside. However, if you put too much pressure or try to hard, it'll collapse, of you'll fill the inside, making it rocky." She shrugged and sat up to watch him. "Let's see how well you can do."

Aang watched as Toph set up a giant obstacle course for him to do. His eyes widened as he realized what the cost of failure would be, the life of complete innocents. She was hitting his sensitive area, Aang never liked to kill anything after all. He wouldn’t even kill the fire lord when he had the chance! Why would he put these birds at risk? Their mother would miss them. Aang gulped nervously, knowing what refusing would get him; probably another beating on the head if he had to guess. He took a deep breath and looked at Toph. “How quickly should I move the rock?”

Toph forced her body up into a sitting position, then a standing. Adjusting her stance into an Earth bending one, she punched her fist forward, her legs in a wider stance. The hollow rock shot forward, turned around and came back. "Twinkle toes, it all depends on your skill. I can make it go however fast or slow I want it. You better not take all day, but pace yourself. Once you collapse the inside, you can't take it back. Work with that in mind." She cautioned, stretching her arms, making sure the rock was in front of him once more. "I suggest a moderate pace considering you're history with Earth Bending. Or... lack there of."

Aang watched with interest as Toph took her stance and shot the rock forward with ease before pulling at it to come back. This was nerve racking to Aang. HE had never taken life of any kind, not even the Fire Lord. He would have to just stay calm and have the courage to move forward. “Alright Toph, time to give this a try”, he said as he took the same stance that she did, pushing his hand forward, trying to cause the rock to go at about half speed that Toph had shot it.

Toph tilted her head to the side so it was half facing him; it really didn't matter at all which direction her head faced considering she was unable to see with her eyes. A sonic wave went out as the rock moved, and a grin spread across her face. "Not bad Twinkle toes." She was able to see inside the egg, nothing as broken yet. Leaning back, she made a curved boulder come from the ground so she had something to lean against while watching him. "Let's not take forever with it Twinkle toes, you're not a murderer, what do you say we keep it that way!" She said, holding up an arm as if to cheer him on. She was never one for phrase, and this was one of the only times she was going to say something and not scream at him to do better; but considering the circumstances, it was most likely best to do this a little more delicately. That meant he was less likely to screw up and end up moping around for days.

Aang casually kept moving the rock forward, doing his best to not anger Toph while at the same time making sure that he was maintaining control enough to not break the eggs that were inside. He had to make sure that they were okay. And then something strange happened, at first making Aang believe that he had misheard what was said. Was that praise coming from Toph? That couldn’t be right, she never handed something like that out so easily. The words echoed in his mind though. He was the Avatar, protecting life was what he was all about. If he constantly lived in fear than he wouldn’t have been able to stop Ozai. He just needed to summon that courage and take the step forward. “HYA!”, he shouted and shot his arm forward, trying to move the rock at the exact same speed that Toph had.

Toph put her arms behind her head and crossed her ankles, her legs were stretched out in front of her. Not bad. She nodded, but said nothing that would show graditude. Wow... That worked? Was Katara serious when she said that Aang responded well to praise? It seems that he did, and this was proof of it. Oh, the amazing things she could do when being nice to him. Think of how far he could get in such a short amount of time by just praising him.
Psh... Yeah right; like she'd ever do something like that. A smile spread across her lips as she leaned backwards a little, trying to get a little more comfortable. Eyes closed, she waited for him to return the rock to her. Now that he had the confidence to get this done, she wasn't going to say anything else. More praise would be over kill, and yelling at him would scare him into breaking them.
As long as it got done and she didn't fall asleep from boredom, then she was ok with it taking a bit of time.

Aang kept his breathing steady as he continued to work with the rock. He was not moving forward with blind rage, just going forward with the courage of a warrior and knowing that he wouldn’t fail these eggs. He wouldn’t let anyone down, Toph, Sokka, Suki, Katara, or these eggs. He was the Avatar, and he finally understood what Toph was trying to show him. He had faced much worse conditions and circumstances than Toph’s test. He could do this and he knew that he would. Aang continued forward, not holding back or having any sense of doubt, trying to complete Toph’s course as quickly as he could. He wasn’t as fast as Toph, despite his own skill and new found ability she was still the greatest in the world, and it was the only thing she used her entire life. About thirty seconds later and Aang had finished the entire course. “Done Toph”

Toph stood up and walked over to the rock he'd returned. Kicking the ground, it popped out of the ground and into the air. Catch it, she inspected it. "Well, you didn't make it much bigger. Maybe an inch or so on the outside. Better than the inside." Hitting the rock with the side of her hand, a small piece broke off. Reaching inside, her fingers touched something that she didn't expect. Not at all.
"Oh... shit..." She muttered, pulling the hand from the rock, opening it slowly, a cracked and broken shell was in her hand. There had been three eggs inside of the rock, so... only one was dead. Or... at least that's all she'd felt so far. Putting her small hand back inside, it slid into the rock. She dropped a few more egg shells on the ground before her hand returned a third time, making her almost, very slightly, but completely noticeably jump.

Aang just gave a small shrug and laugh as she mentioned that it wasn’t much bigger. “Well, I guess that’s why I’m still trying to learn more and more each day right?”, he asked with another stupid grin on his face. “If I knew everything you wouldn’t have much fun teaching me now would you?”, he asked as Toph began to inspect the inside of the egg. What she said she tries to mumble, but Aang was smart enough to tell when something was up.
“Toph, is everything okay?”, he asked as he took a few steps forward. HE was getting nervous, why did Toph act like……the eggs had broken. Aang’s eyes went wide as she started to grabs several different pieces and remove them, discarding them. Aang just hung his head in shame, not knowing what to say. That is right up until Toph jumped in surprise. “Hey, you okay?”
