“There probably some way that I could use airbending in order to allow me to feed it and not hurt it”, Aang said with a shrug. “After all air is the best element”, he said jokingly since Toph would obviously argue that earth was above and beyond air. Aang blinked at Toph’s statement though. “Wow, Sokka told you to drive an airship? I suppose that is something that he would do, you know Sokka”, he said as he laughed at the sheer image of it. It was like asking Toph to join them in that drill……..at least before she could metal bend.
Aang only gave a small laugh and nodded at Toph’s statement. “Yeah, I’m sure that they are only all too common in towns like this”, he said as they continued along. “How’s the bird doing?”

"Are you willing to take that risk?" she asked, tilting her head to the side as they walked. "You're too timid with your actions, twinkle toes. If we have to take care of it, we will, but considering you're too neurotic to be a parent right now and I have no interest, giving it to someone else is the best option." This was a very firm decision and not just because she had no desire to feel all mushy and motherly for something. It was also the fact that if it died, it would be her fault in any case. She put them inside that rock, where they hatched, then held it, causing it to bond to her and it's mother ditch it. Even though she never showed some emotions, she didn't want to feel that way.
"Yeah, I bet i could have taken out the airships faster." She added with a grin. "But Suki ended up doing it. I just bended some metal." She shrugged her shoulders. Looking down, she shifted her hand, feeling it's hear beat. It was small, but strong. However, it just begged more. "I... think it'll die if it doesn't eat very soon." She told him honestly, knowing that babies needed sustenance soon after birth. It stands to reason something from an egg would need more faster.

“I am only bringing it up for a very worst case scenario. Most of my airbending goes to hitting people around and even cutting things down, there’s no way that I would risk trying something a ton smaller than I’m used to on a baby bird”, Aang said seriously. “But if I’m the only hope that it was I would definitely risk that versus anything else”, he said with another smile as he watched Toph holding it. “Yeah I know that would be best, but we can’t depend on it, we can only hope at this point”, he said as they continued. “Any idea how long till we get to the village anyways?”
“Well that is what you are best at”, Aang said with a large grin. “Has anyone else even been able to do it since you realized that you could?”, he asked curiously. Earth still wasn’t really for him, so it would be quite some time if ever for him to bend metal. “Well, I’m not sure what to do Toph”, he remarked as she expressed her concern for the chick. “I just wish I knew more”

"Worst case scenarios only work when you face that fact that the worst case isn't that we keep it. It's if it dies." She told him in a bitterly honest fashion. After all, how could there be a worse outcome than that? Maybe if it had died in the rock, but that wasn't really possible at this point in time. As they walked, she thought. "A few minutes, the village is just beyond those rocks." She pointed not far from them. Once they walked up them the village came into view, and in a few minutes they were already inside. As they walked through the town, a few people noticed them, as if trying to figure out if he was actually the avatar or not.
Since the defeat of the firelord, some people painted arrows on themselves in order to get free stuff and the perks of the avatar. This town had been hit twice by two different 'avatars', so they were cautious. People were always trying to cheat the system and not get a job. As they went through the town, Toph seemed to pick a direction and stick with it. Walking through the town, they came close to a small home with a woman outside. There was a bird on her shoulder, which made Toph smile confidently. It was amazing how much better she saw compared to the average person. It took them forever to convince her to take the baby in, but she did.
As they walked off, she felt better. "Told you there was one crazy." The ground shook a bit under her, making her shift her weight as she walked. Looking over her shoulder,s he arched a brow. Then, sighed. "Hey twinkle toes, don't hit your head on anything, ok?" She asked. The earth under them jerked upwards and Toph just landed a few feet away in a standing position. Taking her praying mantis stance, she shot a rock outwards at the ground of earth benders who weren't far from them. Apparently she didn't look like a bender.

Aang blinked as Toph pointed out the blunt and obvious truth. A part of him obviously knew that was the right choice of worst case, but a part of him just didn’t want to acknowledge it as a possibility. They would both be directly responsible for what had happened to this life, it would pass to the spirit world much sooner than it was supposed to. “wow we’re that close already huh?”, Aang asked surprised as the town was apparently only a little bit away. Well, that would be a pleasant surprise. “Yeah, let’s go”, he said with a smile as they made their way to the inner part of the town.
It didn’t take long for people to start whispering and pointing at the two as they made their way through. Aang just followed Toph, who apparently knew where they were heading next. With some luck she sensed some people with an animal heart beat, someone that would hopefully take a small and helpless bird and help it when its own mother wouldn’t. Aang didn’t blame people for being cautious, although he couldn’t help but wonder if people recognized him yet. He had heard about the copycats, those who would pretend to be him in order to use his savior status and get free stuff. He just sighed as they found the perfect woman to help them. It took a bit of convincing but they got it!
They left happy and proud, or at least with a bit less guilt on their conscience. Aang raised an eyebrow as Toph spoke. “My head?”, he questioned before suddenly feeling himself leave the ground and go flying. He performed a flip in midair and turned like Toph to face the earth benders. They hadn’t even done anything wrong! Aang didn’t like to fight if it was possible, but he wasn’t going to let some bullies get away.

Toph was ready to fight then and had no doubt she'd win. There was two not far behind them, out of sight for Aang, but she knew they were there. Truthfully, she figured she could beat them on her own, but if Aang used fire bending that might work too. You never know... There was a chance he could do something useful. Maybe... If he tried hard enough?
Looking around at them, she moved her hair because she was starting to sweat, and even though she couldn't see, it bothered her when sweat dripped down her forehead. Ready to fight, she didn't even think they had a chance. True they were huge, bulky, and 'strong', but so was Xin Fu and the Boulder. One of those behind them ran forward and threw a rock at them. Turning around, Toph's ears moved towards the sound. Spinning around she grabbed it, pulled up a pillar to encase him and threw the rock, hiding him square in his uncovered chest. It knocked the wind out of him, causing him to cough, fall over, holding his chest. Turning to face the others, Toph prepared another stance. "Is there a particular reason you attack people for existing? Because I can play that game too. About ten times better, I might add."

Aang got into a ready stance, wanting to fight to protect themselves if necessary. Aang would rather avoid fighting any day, but guys like this sometimes just had to get knocked down. However, it wasn’t long till Toph beat him to it, completely beating the crap out of someone that was coming up from behind. Aang just winced as the boulder straight out hit the man in the chest. That had to hurt. “I know that they are being really mean Toph but that might have been a bit overboard”, he said casually.
One of the other men stepped forward. He looked even stronger physically than the boulder, even had a thicker beard than him. “We are tired of your kind coming here, always trying to cheat us out of food and money because you’re the avatar”, he said in a sarcastic tone. “We don’t care anymore and we are sick of it, we’ll make you leave”, he said as he lifted up a rather large boulder.
“WAIT! I AM the Avatar”, Aang insisted, “No one else can do this now can they?”, he asked before suddenly hovering on an orb of air and letting it twirl beneath his feet. Aang only frowned, seeing the looks on the men’s face.
“My god! It IS the Avatar”, the large man said to his companion. “And that must mean….”, he stopped as he just looked at Toph, his heart practically turning into twenty knots. “Toph, the greatest earth bender in the world”, he said as he just stared. “I have been trying to metal bend EVER since I have heard of you”, he said as he moved closer, although afraid she’d hit him. “Forgive me for my assumption, these people have so little…….but let me make up for it! I am willing to buy you all drinks and a night of amusement and rest on me”, he said with a large grin.
“Thanks but I don’t really-“, but Aang got cut off.

"They shouldn't start fights if they can't dish it out twinkle toes. Get over it." She pointed out, looking bored that he wanted to complain that she hit someone with a rock. He was an earth bender... he could have stopped it, or at least tried to take off the hold she put on his body that stopped him from moving. Looks like everyone could bend these days..
If Aang hadn't have said he was the avatar, she would have shoved a boulder down this guy's throat to shut him up. Hearing their reactions, she rolled her eyes, standing up straight, crossing her arms, not bored that she couldn't fight. However, his reaction to her made a confident grin cross her face. Twisting her hand, metal literally jumped off the side of a house and wrapped around her entire arm, forming a type of armor. "Impressed?" She questioned, then he continued to talk.
She was about to blow it off, telling him not to worry about it, but he then said that he would buy them drinks and entertain them for the night. Punching Aang in the arm, she cut him off. "That sounds like a good way to make it up to us. Come on Twinkle toes. We saved a life today, let's celebrate the fact that the baby Badger-Dove is going to live." She walked over to the other earth bender, metal bending her arm guard off and back over to the house. The meteor bracelet was still wrapped around her upper arm and she started walking off. "Let's go twinkle toes!"

“Well still you have to at least give them credit for their reason, people have been pretending to be me and practically been stealing from these people, I can’t say that I like it either”, Aang admitted as he looked at the wounded earth bender. Apparently that guy wasn’t too used to fighting, at least he could have lifted up something to protect himself. Aang just shrugged, perhaps that guy deserved to get hurt.
The man at first held a frown as the Great Toph seemed like she was going to refuse his offer to make up for his rude actions. However, within a moment she had twisted metal on her arm in a proud display. “amazing! Simply amazing! I always knew it was true but to see something like that with my own eyes, I can’t believe it”, he said as he practically giggled from pure excitement. “I can’t believe that I’m going to buy drinks for THE Toph”, he said excitedly to himself. The man quickly made his way after Toph, completely forgetting that his friend probably had several broken ribs from that last hit.
Aang jumped slightly as Toph punched him in the arm, only rubbing it when she wasn’t looking out of habit. He always forgot that Toph was blind, because she definitely didn’t act like it at all. “But Toph you know I don-“. But he was once again cut off as Toph made her way with the leader of the group. Aang just signed. “Well, better make sure that she’s okay”

As they walked, Toph was wallowing in bliss. When people worshiping her like this, it was right up her alley. It made her feel confident and even more cocky than she normally would. Which, in retrospect, was her greatest weakness. Her pride was the main reason she never asked for help, and because they were going to a bar, yeah... this would be a fantastic night. For anyone around her, especially Aang, her self designated chaperon. Tonight end would be quite interesting, especially for him. Stopping for her from earth bending, while drunk.
Best luck to him.
However, because he was there, she was much more comfortable getting shit faced because there was someone there that would bring her somewhere to sleep it off without the need or desire to remove all her clothes and see her inner bending...
Going into the bar, she sat with him. Looking over her shoulder. "Come on Avatar, you should have a drink!" She called out. "Celebrate the fact that you saved the world and are liberating this town. Now they know what you look like!" She smirked, hearing the bartender walk over. "Get me a tequila Pink." She was going to start off strong, because there was no way she was going to leave here with them doubting her skill as a bender and a drinker.

While Toph was enjoying all the praise that she was getting, it was a completely different story for Aang. There were earthbenders here, and so far none of them had tried proposing to her or offering her riches and a life without work. That was the one thing that she truly hated after all, more than anything. Toph was always independent and just didn’t want that sort of thing. Aang was different though, these women would just throw themselves at him and expect for him to be happy and just accept any of them. Sometimes it felt like he had the choice of everyone, and yet no one at the same time.
As they sat down at the bar Aang looked around, trying to find something that he could do at all in order to pass the time. It wasn’t long till Toph was already trying to get him to drink though. “You know the stuff’s never been for me Toph, I get sick just smelling it from here”, he muttered as he looked at all the partiers that were around the room. “I don’t mind having dinner or something bought for us, but this just really isn’t my thing……….you’re ordering a what now?”, he asked as he heard something about pink. Lemonade for him perhaps? He doubted it.

Toph glanced at him with a skeptical look on her face. Even though she was unable to see, she still used facial expressions, including glaring, to her advantage. "You know Twinkle toes... maybe if you just relaxed a little, calmed down and let loose, you'd have more fun." As he drink arrived, she picked it up, holding it out to him. "Tequila is one of the world's strongest alcohols. You should try this one. It's sweeter than what it would normally be like. I have a feeling it's up your alley."
Turning to face the earth bending who was sitting on her other side, a grin came to her face. "So tell me, attacking strangers one of your hobbies, or, is it a job? Either way, you're fucking because you suck at it." Leaning forward slightly towards him, a sly grin passed her lips. Taking the drink because she knew Aang wouldn't drink it, she downed the entire thing in one gulp, putting it on the table. "Whatever you have." She answered the bartender as his mouth opened to ask her what now. It seemed that like she was good with gambling, this was another male oriented activity she was quite skilled with.
A woman stood nervously after much encouragement from her friends and walked towards them. Toph, slid out of her seat as the male was talking and headed her off. This, of course, bothered her, but even though she was taller than the earth bender, she couldn't get around her. "You're in my way..." She said angrily, trying not to let it show on her 'delicate' features.
Toph shook the earth, making her fall backwards. Standing over her, Toph bent down so she and this other woman were face to face. "Listen here Sweetie, you and you're whoring friends are loud, obnoxious and I have no interest in allowing you to drug and drag off my pupil for the gratification of becoming 'Miss Avatar' or whatever illusions you had thereafter. If I see you again, I promise you that you won't have to worry about ever finding a husband, because none will want or need you, k?" She asked, slamming the ground with her heel which made the earth jerk under the woman, throwing her out of the bar. Her head jerked to the side to look at the woman's friends, who ran out without further encouragement.
"There you go Twinkles. You can lighten up now." A smile returned to her face, but because of the way she'd been standing and had bended, her eyes were more visible through her bangs then they normally where. She seemed carefree and quite proud of her accomplishment.
