"I haven't seen them in a while either." He said honestly. "We haven't been able to do this festival for a while. I asked if they were doing it, and they said yes, otherwise climbing into the tree would have been a waste of time." This was the truth. Seeing the lights explode and send variety's of colors across her face, he found himself smiling, content with her in that moment. Okay, so maybe not all fire benders were evil and he didn't have to watch her so she wouldn't stab him in his sleep or gut him like a big before frying him. As strange as it was to think... fire benders weren't immoral and inhuman beings.
They... where human.
As the fireworks continued to explode, to came up in the air, forming two characters, su, in a fight red and orange, followed by yin, in a bright green. Jet leaned forward. That was weird? Why had they done that? His eyes widened, realizing that he'd mentioned her name, but soon faded before she noticed. Damn it...

Suyin glanced over at him for a mere second before her eyes snapped back to the fireworks as they continued to rage in a way that was almost otherworldly. Flashes of orange, red, blue, green, and almost any other color imaginable shot through the air and lit up the sky. It was exhilarating, far more amazing than any of the fire bending shows she had ever seen. She clearly remembered the last time she had seen fireworks back at home, lifted up on her father's shoulder's, feeling as though she was running her fingers through the clouds. Back then, she had been so small and everything had amazed and captivated her. Though, here she was, age nineteen and sitting in a tree, feeling nothing but absolutely giddy as the colors exploded in front of her eyes. It seemed that not much had changed after all.
She moved the ice cone toward her face to take another taste, but her name appeared in the sky and the portion of the ice cone slipped from her mouth and landed in her shirt, causing a similar reaction to both: a weird girly sound that smina cannot explain in just words so she shall depend on sarah's telepathy to understand. "My name!" she cried out, nearly falling off the tree when she went to sit up further. "How is that..!" she was awestruck and secretly wondering if it could possibly have been for her. Suyin could have been an extremely common name in the Earth Kingdom, right? No one else knew her name here besides Jet. "Did you see that?!" she asked, turning to him and waving her hand around in the sky in front of them where her name had just faded.

Jet watched the ice fall onto her, and in a swift motion, grabbed her stop her from falling out of the tree. He'd pulled her close to him to keep her from certain death, letting out a sigh. "Sorry." he whispered, letting her go. Seeing the ice, he flicked it off her clothes before it could stain them and watched it fall from the tree to the ground with a small splosh, which was muted by the sound of more fireworks. Watching them continue to explode, he wondered if it was the best idea to tell her the truth. Was it a good idea? A smile appeared on his lips and he leaned forward. "relax."
Should he tell her? "I guess..." He trailed off, thinking it over. "It's my way of welcoming you here, you know?" He asked, shrugging. "Giving you a reason to like it here means you won't try to restart the war or report things you hear back to that crazy shit you got tied up in. They didn't tell me everything about it, and to be honest, I don't give a shit anymore. Everyone makes mistakes. I've made dozens of them. I don't have to tell you, and you don't have to fell me. From this point on, I want to give Smellerbee and Longshot what I promised them four years ago, even if that means I have to take care of a firebender."

Suyin grabbed onto his side when he pulled her over before she had time to react completely. "Thanks," she muttered, letting him go and straightening herself so that she wasn't at risk of falling again. She looked back at the sky, now silent and empty aside from the stars and the moon and a smile creeped up onto her face. Her eyes drifted down to the top part of her dress, where the piece of ice had slid in and onto the bare chest beneath the fabric. It was now just water, that slid awkwardly down her her chest. She ignored it for the moment, knowing it wasn't noticeable to anyone besides herself.
Watching him, she couldn't help but smile. Moving her body around so that she was facing him, she looked up at him. "Thank you..." she whispered, hoping her voice would come out louder than it actually had. "I used to...think you were just...well, some rebel boy who disagreed with me on everything and only made me mad. But you're not that bad, you're actually pretty easy to get along with." She moved the cone full of now melted ice until she was drinking the last of it. She brought her hand up to wipe away any of the liquid that was left over off on her mouth. "I'm going to start over too, for myself and for my dad," she said, looking down at the empty cone in her hands. "And for Angel too." She smiled. She didn't know how many times she would have died by now had it it not been for her friend.

Jet looked down at her, his eyes drifting awya from the smoke filled sky. "I used to think that the fire nation was evil because of the way they thought and the things they did. For me to consider that they were like the rest of us wasn't something I wanted to believe. Because, then someone like me could mercilessly kill all those around them. But, with what I've done in the past, that's not far from the truth. To see someone like you, a girl, nonetheless, that wanted to restart the war... it made me want to kill you." He stated honestly. "Yet, you don't want to restart it and you only did it because you had to. You want to start over too, and you haven't tried to kill me or my friends." He paused, his eyes drifting away from her, his eyes watching the sky, starting to clear.
"I dunno... I want to try again and bring that to the freedom fighters. You need to start again. I am a rebel, but my cause was the war. At the moment, I have nothing and neither will my freedom fighters. I have to find something for them that gives their life meaning. Without it, they'll become just as lost as I am."

Suyin allowed her gold eyes to rest on his face, mainly his eyes which were so dark they almost appeared black under the velvet night sky. She found herself absorbed in what he was saying, realizing that the way he had felt about her in the beginning had been exactly how she'd felt too. ''You still are a rebel, rebel,'' she teased, a laugh staining her easy voice. ''But it's okay because I guess I'm one too now. It's not a terrible feeling though, it makes me feel kind of like a badass.'' Snickering, she grabbed the branch they were sitting on and allowed herself to drop backwards, landing on the branch beneath. From there, she jumped to the ground and fixed her posture.
''Also,'' she looked up at him still in the tree,''I don't think you should worry about your friends too much. They seem to be happy as long as you are. I think all they want for you to do is let go of your past and start to move forward again,'' she answered, crumpling up the paper gone and dropping into the bag he'd dropped for them to pick up later.

Jet was surprised and turned to stare into her golden eyes. He still was a rebel? Well... that was true. As she continued, he started to laugh. "I gotta say, being a rebel is badass. If you want to learn the ins and outs, stay close to me. I can teach you." He teased, a grin coming to his face. When she jumped out of the tree, he shifted and jumped straight down onto the ground. He was showing off, but who cares? This was Jet and it was what he did. Picking up the bag and tossing his paper cone, he found a trash to toss it in and then started to walk at her side.
"Come on. We should get back to the hotel before Aang wakes up, with his bleeding heart, he'll think I strangled you and are trying to hide the body. Or visa versa." He said as they made their way toward the hotel. He slowed for a moment and stopped. This part of down was deserted. "Hey..." He muttered, watching her. "Truce?" He held out his hand for her to take, as if to solidify that whatever happened from this point on, they weren't enemies.

Suyin laughed and waited until he caught up before she started walking, dusting tree bark off the back of her clothing. "I'll keep that in mind," she replied, smirking. They started to walk back to the hotel, her eyes wandering around the streets. There were still people out and about, clearly not caring that the festival was over. Some had gone home, because even though there were people here, it seemed like a lot less than earlier. She yawned, cupping a hand over her mouth. Everyone else seemed wide awake, but she couldn't wait to get back and fall into the cozy bed.
She stopped when he did, looking down at his hand as he extended it out to her. For a moment, she just stared at it, but then she smiled and brought her hand up to his, shaking. "Truce," she recited in a voice that came out firm and clear.

For a minute, it was almost like Suyin wasn't going to shake hands with him. When she took his hand though, his hand closed around hers and he shook in. Letting her hand go, the two resumed walking back to the hotel. Once they got the the entrance, the front desk was closing up. A woman raised a hand to her face to cover her yawn, and waved to them. It was understood they were returning from the festival. "Have a good night." She said, smiling at them while taking off the tight part of her uniform around her waist as she went to her own room.
Jet led her up to the suite they were staying in and opened the door. He let her walk in first. The room was silent, of course, and he went inside with her, looking around. No one was up. Good. He went into the room that he was sharing with her, knowing she was following him. In a strange way, since they were back in the same room - the trip felt a lot like a date... But he ignored it, removing his armor, tossing it on the ground. Then, he pulled his shirt from his body and removed his shoes, walking over to the bed. He needed to get some sleep.

Sneaking back into the hotel room, she quietly shut the door behind them and lit a small fire in her hand so they could see where they were going. When they made it back to the room, she fell onto the bed without changing. She was tired and didn't have enough motivation to undress into something more comfortable. "Thanks, by the way," she mumbled into her pillow, "for showing me around." Pulling the blanket up and over her head, she curled up in the center of her side and yawned.
"G'night..."

The bender fell onto the bed and laid there, moving only to gain comfort in her position. The fighter watched and shrugged, laying down on the bed, rather than the floor. He'd forgotten the reason he was even sleeping there. (He forgot damn it!) Closing his eyes, he pulled the blanket around his body and let his mind slowly drift away until it was replaced with a false world that held the hopes of his return to the freedom fighters-happiness, rather than regret and mistrust.
Jet woke up to a rather loud bang in the other room, making him groan, twisting in the sheets. Seconds later, he heard Toph's voice and he curled up closer to the center of the bed, feeling warmth beside him. "Fucking chick." He muttered, then hearing Smellerbee laughing. "Ugh..."
Toph leaned against one of the walls, arms crossed. "That's not fair. You're not allowed to cheat." She moved her arm to bend something into Aang's face. "You can't put meat on my plate because I can't see it! If you try that again then you automatically forfeit and I win. Got it?" Good thing she'd smelled it before she ate it.

Aang rubbed his nose as a piece of rock hit his face. "You never said that was against the rules!" he whined, ducking as she bended something else. "Actually, we never established anything. Therefore I am allowed to do whatever I want, even if that means sneaking meat into your diet, HAHA!" he laughed loudly, his voice traveling throughout the entire hotel suite. He reached onto the table where there was a casual, nothing fancy, breakfast set up and picked up an orange. He started to peel it, dropping the peels onto a plate on the table reserved for the peels before he began eating it.
Smellerbee snorted. "I feel like you're going to end up a bloody pulp by the time this is over, Aang," she commented. Looking over at Longshot, she smirked. "Time to wake up grouchy-pants. If he cries, he's your responsibility," she said, heading down the hallway. She swung open the room where Jet was still in bed and threw something at his head. "Wake up, or else you won't have anything to eat later," she threatened before she cannon-balled into the bed, surprised when she landed beside Suyin as well. "You're usually up by now."
"Long night..."
"What did you guys do?" she asked.

Toph glared at him and slid the table away from him, making out of the plates knock the orange out of his hand. She caught the peeled fruit and took out a slice. "No rules huh?" She asked, grinning at him. "Oh well. Guess that means I just won't eat until I win the bet. You forget, I could go two days, or a week. As long as I go two days, I still win." She boasted, putting another slice of orange into her mouth before chewing and swallowing. "Looks like this is going to be an interesting few days."
Jet shifted as Smellerbee moved off Suyin. "We were up until almost dawn. I'll get up when I feel like it. I'll just make something if I have to." He muttered, shifting away from her. It didn't work because Smellerbee just leaned on him, whereas she wasn't heavy, she was good at concentrating her weight to make it feel that way. Twisting his body, he grabbed her in the blanket that was once around him and trapped her inside of it, his arms against her arms so she couldn't punch him. "Find something else to do beside bothering me." He dropped the Smellerbee filled blanket onto the floor. "Let us sleep a while longer."

Aang smirked. "Yeah, but we settled on a week. And you're going to have to eat or you won't have any energy to bend well enough. Besides, I don't think you could handle being around food and not eating it. Just wait until we have another feast with all kinda of food, especially meat. This is the one time I will encourage it at the table," He said, tearing off an orange slice and eating it, licking a droplet of juice off his lips.
Smellerbee untangled herself from the blanket and folded it, hitting him on the head with it. "No, you're going to mess up your sleep schedule if you sleep through today. So get up, and I'm not taking no for an answer," she said, sitting on him again. "It's your own fault that you guys were up so late," she stated, getting up and pulling the blanket off of them. "I'll start pulling you off the bed and I'll get Longshot to help."

Toph glared at him, but did it out of playfulness. This was going to be interesting. He was right, but she could just steal what he was eating. After all, he wouldn't eat meat, right? "You're an asshole." She said, walking over to him. "Does this mean that we're going to have a fight everyday to prove that I'm better than you?" She teased.
Jet groaned, feeling her sit on his back. "Fine..." He muttered, rolling over, grabbing Smellerbee. "Come on." He put her down on her feet as he stood up, running his hand through his hair. "Sometimes I wonder why you came with me and didn't become the leader of the freedom fighters." He grinned at her, running his hair. Looking around, he found his shirt and picked it up, starting to redress himself. "You'd have made a good leader." He added, his shirt falling around his waist. "What did you make? I'm hungry." Glancing at the bed, he debating letting Suyin sleep. But, she was sitting up, so he shrugged. "Do you want to get up or sleep more?"
