L watched the mortal eat and truly savor his food. He too started eating, but did so much more slowly. One of the men at the other table were watching them, and mumbled something about how odd it was for two men to be out and about this early, especially dressed as they were. L sighed and started eating, ignoring what Light was likely unable to hear.
"I suppose you have a point." He pealed open the crepe with his fork and started to eat the fruit and whipped cream filling from inside. And, he didn't struggle or choke when the food hit his tongue. "You staring at me like that may confirm their suspicious that we're indeed sleeping with one another." he was only partially teasing, but Light looked fascinated.

Light almost spat out his pancake. The delicious, sweet pancake that honestly, made standing the entire night worth it. He may be able to change his feet, but he couldn't make them not hurt. "Rude." he muttered, choking down some of the fine lemon water the establishment had provided. "First of all, most would assume we're roommates, or business partners." He answered. However, he did shift, very, very sublty his looks so that he looked more similar to the man across from him. Perhaps now they would look again and think, oh brothers.
"And if you're so worried, we could have gone somewhere else to eat." he muttered, looking towards the waitress, as if to check for the bill.

L chuckled, "I find you attractive too, but I'm sure it is your desire that I do so," He pointed to him with his fork. "But I am intrigued my the mind and not the body. And you should not shift so publicly. That is more likely to get us killed." The man insisted as he himself drank some of the coffee Light had ordered them. L didn't drink water. Some places replaced real water with holy water to injure vampires and other super natural beings. It was always a danger to them, the fear and desire of mortals to show their superior strength. Well, supposed strength.
"I can hear them speaking of it," The male placed his mug down and eating his fruit and cream. "However, we should not concern ourselves with that. I admire the looks you give." Another tease, of course, since they were being watched. But now that they looked like brothers, it looked like an older brother teasing the younger.

"If I shift sublty enough, no one even notices. And when they do, they think it's a trick of their eyes. Do you know how often people ignore me entirely? If I wanted to, I could make them look away from us, simply by appearing ordinary enough." He answered, raising a moue to the 'teasing'. Something about the form he was wearing now seemed... very familiar. He wasn't sure what.
"And of course you find me attractive. I'm something new, something you've never seen before. That's attractive to any vampire."

"I have seen many things before, and sadly, you are nothing new. A human shifter, yes, but... I'm sure there are more interesting people," Now L's teasing morphed just slightly to be a little aggressive, but he soon let his fade. Once he finished eating, he sighed and looked a little pained. "What is attractive to me is the way you think, my friend, not your body. I choose those I let close to me carefully. Surely from Mello and NEar you can see my tastes." soon followed a shrug.
Once the waitress returned, L paid the tab for them both and left her a tip equal to said bill before walking out with the shifter. He inhaled again as they walked down the street. "So my friend, where would you like to venture to now?"

Light was more than happy to let the ages old vampire pay for his tab. Fuck yes, free food. He wasn't so rich as to not care if food was free or not. "Considering your tip just now, I'm sincerely debating going shopping and making you pick up the bill." He teased, "For now, however, I should probably get your geriatric self home, before Mello worries that I've killed you and taken your place."
Across the city, a man awoke, showered, and prayed. He got ready for the day by making pancakes. While he did so, a laptop on his counter was used to update his will and testament, to include care for the boy he'd just adopted. After all, he couldn't leave Near homeless and in the care of vampires, the way Near's family had.

L chuckled at this, "If you wish to go shopping, that sounds much more entertaining than going home and doing nothing." He insisted. "As I mentioned more, I do not sleep. Besides, the fashion here has changed since the last I visited. Perhaps you could help me blend in better. I am often told I dress too comfortably." The two men continued to walk. "Would you like me to return your shifting self to your car? You know, since I am so old, and therefore, old fashioned?"

"My car would be preferable to walking any more. these shoes are lovely for a picnic in the graveyard, or even for a party at a vampire club, but walking around all night is a bit much." he answered, heading back in the direction of the bar. The road was filled with people now, cars and trucks going back and forth on their daily commute, horns honking. People walked up and down the streets along with them, London busy, even in this district.
When Gevanni had a large stack of pancakes, he set aside a plate for Near, and put them in the microwave. Sitting, he finished looking over the will, and then pulled up the document with his instructions. At three today, he would be going over to another brother's house, to pick up the vest. They'd check that it fit, and then tomorrow, he'd blow the place sky high. Taking that blonde vampire and everyone along with it.

L came up behind Light as the man walked with a pop in his hip to draw attention. He put his hand on Light's shoulder. "Make it so you are invisible." He whispered, cool breath on his new human's ear. "I am planning something and it will be easy. Disappear." Once the human did as instructed, L lifted him from the ground with one hand. It was only by an inch, but that was enough. After that, a rapid blur occurred and L moved them to Light's car, a walk that had taken nearly an hour, in less than four seconds on Light's shiny watch.
Placing the human down, he grinned a bit at him and let Light straighten his clothes. "So then, where would you like to go?"

Light's way of making himself invisible wasn't quite what L had thought it would be, surely, for his way of being invisible is merely to adopt the most middling traits of everyone he'd ever met, and then adopt a very non-descript body language. This did not really help with the sudden high-speed flinging, but it certainly helped with his clamped jaw, as this particular form had nice teeth. When he was finally on his feet again, he gasped, "NEVER. AGAIN."
Fumbling with the keys of his car, he unlocked it, and rolled down the windows in the same thumbing of the keyfob. "Just... Just get in. Mother of god." he muttered to himself.

Never again. well, that was new. Some people vomited. L felt accomplished, glad he could still shock and horrify humans. Well, this human, anyway. So, he just walked to the car and got in. "This is a nice car..." He said, looking over the interior of the Cadillac. Nice. LEather inferior. He nodded with his lips out. He approved of this. Leaning back, he adjusted his seat to accommodate his long legs. He was ready to go where ever the other wished to take him, but he wasn't entirely sure where that was.
Still, not knowing the destination you were headed was the best part of some trips, many that L had taken in the past,in fact.

The car pulled out of the parking lot, just as classical music filled the cab. An old tchaikovsky melody, Light had always found relaxing. Streets passed by them, as he drove them towards some of the closer fashion stores he knew. A good Neman Marcus was only about fourty five minutes by car, and he hoped to show L the joys of a good, fitted suit.
"Thank you. I died four times to be able to afford this car." he stated, proud of that. He lived a good life, thanks to his dealings, and had many identities in more than a few countries. He wasn't about to be trapped. He hated the feeling of being trapped. Perhaps that was why he faced it every day he worked.

L glanced to the other man. "How exactly do you die? You assume a life and then give it up with a bang?" He teased. He was curious on how long this man could die for, and if he could die at all for that matter. The drive was interesting. Without cars, the world would be strange. He remember when they invented the machines. So much easier now, but so hard to fix and so easy to damage, especially with his strength. Still, he did enjoy a ride, although it was not preferred to moving around with another vampire. He missed the runs he once went on with Mello and Near, especially when they were young, gaining strength and wisdom. It was a great time.
"Tell me a story of your life. Perhaps we could trade stories on the drive? That seems a fair way to pass time."

Light supposed that was a fair trade. "Alright. To answer your question, I can die for exactly thirteen hours. I do not know why, I've tried excersising it, and it doesn't seem to be a muscle of any sort. i started at thirteen hours, and I now end at thirteen. How I do it, is I stop my heart. Then, once the doctors are done slicing me open and filling me with chemicals, I start one up somewhere around my foot area. Then, after I'm buried, I purge my body of the chemicals, recreate the necessary organs, and wait until I can dig my way out."
He paused, and then smiled, "There. Your turn to tell a story."

L tilted his head back and forth in thought. He wondered how exactly he could impress this human. Or if there was a point in impressing this mortal at all. Ultimately, he supposed it didn't matter. "Mortals were quite barbaric back in the day. they often sacrificed other humans to god in order to prove their live and their worth. Some they burned alive, drowned, some they cut apart, others they removed their heart, or they bled them dry like pigs tot their congregations drink their blood. It's a strange thing, you humans. I am impressed you can appear dead for that long. It is quite an amazing skill, and one I will not forget. I remember many skills and attributes which can be used later."
As L sat in the car, he thought over what he had told Light, "I tell you this story because it reoccurs every few hundred years. The religious ones get the same ideas, to start killing and maiming their own, as if we are really that different. We all crave blood, just in different ways."
